Doesn't mention Porter with any votes. Big let down.

Why are you surprised ?
Joey didn't record a single sack in the last 3 games. You can't disappear like that and expect to win awards.Ronnie Bass, Fin D, Crappy Tipper and 1 other person like this. -
Porter was extremely overrated this season. He showed up on 18 plays. The rest of the time, you could swear he wasn't even on the field.

No, not really. -
He deserved at least one vote.

Porter had a good year, but his numbers v.s. Harrison and Ware are not even comparable. I may be biased but Ed Reed would have gotten my vote (though he was fighting injury early and wasn't a huge factor until about week6)11 INT's he scored 4 TD's, he Forced, Rovered, and scored with a fumble.
-
Harrison, Ware and Reed all could have won it. Was a really strong year for the award.
The thing about "Joey should have gotten at least one vote", that means somebody would have had to believe he deserved it more than the three guys mentioned above, plus Polamalu. There are no 2nd/3rd place votes. Only votes for who wins.
Nobody believes Porter was better than Harrison, Ware and Reed, right?
Non-issue IMO.PMZQ likes this. -

Porter seemed to have a great season to us compared to what he did last season, which we all know was a huge let down. He did play extremely well this year, but he didn't finish strong and there were times even games where he was invisible.
I didn't expect him to win the award, yes he could have got at least one first place vote but i'm not suprised he didn't considering how many other talented defensive players the league has.
Not getting a vote doesn't take anything away from porter this season, he played great for us and was a great mentor and leader for our team. He's going to hawaii (if that counts for much these days) but more importantly he led our young defense back to a winning record and helped develop a lot of our young defensive players the right way, with the right attitude. -
Joey did deserve at last one vote IMO. Harrison plays on an already excellent defense, as does Ed Reed. Im sure those guys will tell you they benefit from other superior talent around them.
If you replace Harrison with Joey Porter he wins the DPOY. -

Porter was double-teamed for most of the year and teams admitted to game planning for him.
To answer your question, no I don think Harrison puts up the numbers if he plays here and yes Joey puts up those numbers in Pitt.
Players always benefit from the talent around them. Adalius Thomas is finding that out the hard way in New England... -

You guys are hating on Porter badly. Our best player on defense should be cut, only showed up on 18 plays etc.
The dropoff from Porter to the next player is so bad, that when double teamed, that was it. Other teams, someone gets doubled, someone else steps up. It's a synergistic relationship. On our team, not so much.
You think we had no pressure? Take out Joey. Then you'll see how bad it'll get. And you think we're smart, opposing teams know that as well, and it's evident during the games.
Porter did make that behind the LOS tackle on the goal line that helped hold them to 3 points on Sunday, btw.HardKoreXXX likes this. -
Methinks Harrison doesn't SNIFF this award had he played for Houston or Detroit. -
If Porter played for Detroit, he wouldn't have had 17.5 sacks either and you wouldn't be lobbying for his recognition. -
Porter put up those kind of numbers in Pittsburgh and he never had as many around him as Harrison does. As I have said Numerous times, I think Ed Reed should have won the award, but I would put Ware, Polamalu, Porter, Haynesworth, Ray Lewis and maybe even Nick Collins ahead of him.
