I make a to do list around the house on notepad. I'd like to find a way for this to show up on my desktop without having to open the file.

Is there any free open source software that makes this possible?

There used to be something called Samurize, and now there's something called Rainmeter, but I just want something lightweight. Just the text, nothing fancy.

    Thanks!

There are several ways to do it, but perhaps the easiest is to grab a sitcky notes program that gives you somewhere to type whatever you need on the desktop. It's a standard feature in Windows 7, or you can download this version for XP and Vista-

There's some other programs out there as well that do the same thing, but this one is pretty basic and should make you happy.

Ubuntu has had a built-in note thing for years which is actually a lot better than 7's

I've got that set up just fine I can get around on linux a lot better than windows.
