http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/story/_/id/9975464/new-york-jets-deal-ed-reed Color me unimpressed, but I am not surprised given the ties between him and Ryan. I am not sure how much help he is going to be, considering he could barely get on the field in Houston. I am a little surprised the GM signed off on this. Not exactly a long term move.
Well, I wouldn't get too excited about that. I highly doubt that will be what keeps the Jets from the playoffs. And I can't really say it will stunt the development of their young players. Look at how many they have actually starting. Their current starting free safety was a 7th round pick in the 2012 draft. Maybe Reed can perform a mentoring type role with the Jets and then maybe move into coaching on Rex's staff.
I'm sure that's probably what they're thinking, and I don't think he'll be what keeps you guys from the playoffs.. if you are kept from the playoffs, but right now he's taking cap space and a roster spot and is not quite the Ed Reed he once was, and that makes me happy.
It is a comfortable situation for both and a fit. I think Ed does ok . Do think Rex stays on as coach playoffs or not
