Dolphins agreed to terms with first-round DL Jared Odrick on a multi-year contract.


Odrick was a high-motor defensive tackle at Penn State, but he's ticketed for end in the Dolphins' 3-4 scheme. The 2009 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year was thought to be the favorite for the right end job following Phillip Merling's season-ending injury, but the recent acquisitions of veterans Marques Douglas and Charles Grant suggest he won't be rushed into the staring lineup.

I was thinking that since Merling played 3-4 DE as well as 4-3 DE in nickel situations, that two replacements may be needed. Douglas is a decent 3-4 guy but he's no pass rusher. Grant isn't a 5 technique, but he has a ton of experience as a 4-3 end. Seems like a couple of good signings considering the circumstances, but not necessarily a knock on Odrick.

 

Man that is great, I dont think we will have any problem signing any of our draft picks this season. Good to hear we inked Odrick.

 

I dont think it is out of the realm to think they will play some 4-3 this year.......giving the man in charge, and I think he is loading up the front line...

Agreed. I especially want to see some 4-2-5, or 3-3-5, some 2-4-5 even. Get a bunch of fast guys out there, confuse the protection, and wreak havoc. Sounds good to me :up:.
