Found that interesting, and about right, Odie is going to be the passrushing DE/DT on the nickel line, he has the mobility to do it, now if DL Coach rodgers can convince Nolan to let them run stunts, slants and x games, Odie and Wake could do some real damage in that situation.

We already have a very good DL. If Odie actually becomes better then everyone on our DL we have a future pro bowl stud then because Langford and Soliai already play at a pro bowl level and Starks is darn close especially as a 3-4 rush end. If Odie and Misi make the jump...good luck to the rest of the AFC, you will need it.

 

When you watch him, he has that sort of extra speed on the field, when he moves it looks like the Olinemen is a step slower then he is.

 

I agree with the expectation that Odrick will be our best D-lineman by the end of the season. And that's saying something b/c I think Starks, Langford and Soliai are all very good to great.

 

Exactly and that combination speed/power game is what separates the elite 3-4 rush ends. Aaron Smith, Richard Seymour, Trevor Pryce have built or extended careers on that. It's one of the hardest positions to fill. DE's are at enough of a premium by try fndng a good 3-4 rush end. Needle meet haystack.

 

This is an awful lot of hype for a guy who's played only three quarters of NFL ball.

Guy could very well turn out to be our best defensive lineman, but he could also be our worst. Let's see how many times he eats Tom Brady.

 

While I certainly appreciate that Kimbo has good knowledge of the Dolphins. I think his view that Odrick will be the Dolphins best player on the defensive line by the end of this season is quite an assumption. Especially for a player who has never played but a few plays in the NFL regular season. There is a reason Odrick was not selected until very late in the 2010 draft. He has a chance of being a good player for the Dolphins, but I don't see him being better than Soliai or Langford. In fact I think before the season is over, Soliai will prove to be not only the best defensive lineman on the Dolphins but one of the best in the NFL.

 

Odrick was taken in the first round. How is that 'very late in the 2010 draft'?

You are correct. I meant to write, very late in the first round. So I stand corrected on that part of my statement. As far as the rest of my statement goes, I still think Odrick has a lot to prove before he can be considered a good NFL defensive lineman, much less the best DL on the Dolphins.

 

He does have a lot to prove, but being selected "very late in the first round" isn't an indictment as you appear to claim.

 

If he has a few more moves like this up his sleeve and can stay healthy, he'll create plenty of havoc for sure.

We have to remember how big this man is..probabaly at 292 right not, quick, active, jumpin in the air to block the pass after abusing the guy with his hands at the LOS shows that athleticism for a large man.

Our dline from top to bottom is pure prototype sh^%, all 6 guys right around 300..

 

Bo knows the DL and Lbers. I would value his opinion. That said, it might be a stretch to say that Odrick will be the best of a very good group by the end of the season. I hope he's right. That bodes well for this team. What I'd just as much like to see is Soliai play like he's worth that $12M again. Knowing that it takes 3-6 yrs for a 3/4 NT to really develop, I wasn't down on him like many were until last season, when he had his breakthrough season. Now, back it up Paul and make like an All Pro....

But any way you look at it, we have enough depth and enough good players. I don't see Odrick or McD as non-starters. They'd both start for quite a few teams in the league...

 

I do happen to value Bo's opinion of the defensive line. I would just like to see Odrick play in a few regular season games before there is talk that he will be the best player on the defensive line. So far he has done nothing to conclude he will exceed the play of Soliai, Starks, or Langford. I hope Bo is right in his assessment of Odrick. I happen to like the defensive line and I have stated numerous times that the defense is certainly the strength of this team. Of all the units on the defense, I feel the defensive line is the best and deepest unit on the entire team.

 

Hand positioning is no small thing when it comes to DL effectiveness. You can have every physical gift but if you dont use your hands well you will never achieve success in the NFL. Just ask Vernon Gholston. :lol:

Wouldn't surprise me. He looked damn good last camp, and he's looked damn good this one.

Beyond that, on a line full of 2-way players, he is flashing the best pass rush skills.

 

I really hope so, I want success for everyone on our team. At his point who can tell? He's played a little more than 2 quarters of 1 game. To be honest right now I'll be happy if he isn't made of glass. After he gets some games under his belt we'll see if that praise from Kimbo is warranted.

Dez Bryant is talented, but he's also a head case. Not disappointed that we passed on him.

Exactly, as the stat from FO showed, they plan on using him in that role, vs the Pats if Odie is as advertised Nolan can run the coverage schemes he wants to run, and JT/Odie/McD/Wake or whichever combination can pressure him.

Starks is good, but imo he just does not have Odie's skillset to rush the passer the same way that Odie can.

 

Jared Odrick is going to be a good one. He may be the best one we have. As Muck mentioned, he's showed the best pass rushing skills of the bunch, with Randy Starks in second.

 

If anything Starks is our best pass rusher if not second best. What I would love to see against New England though is Miami taking advantage of Odrick playing on the nickel line at LE, stunting with Starks next to him. Those two next to each other could give Brady fits especially since Solder's strength is against speed. One of the two may demand a double team and if that's the case then a huge part of the battle has been won. Miami can cover 4 guys with seven.

 

I'd say that Langford looks to be primed. People forget how quick and fast he is. He's like a bigger Lorenzo Bromell.

 

He had cramps all game (as did Revis)
