Just saw on NBC that today's monster offensive output is the most yards the Dolphins have gotten since 1995, when Toy Story 1 was in theaters, it was still Joe Robbie Stadium and I was 7. If not for that Vernon Carey holding call, it probably would've been 40-17. That is a positive sign going forward in their return to Sun Life stadium, a place of horrors since November 2009. The question is can they continue this offensive output against the Browns, Jets, and after? And when are they going to extend Ricky for a year? My theory is they aren't sure what to do with Ronnie, so extending Ricky during the season is not going to happen.
Browns are 22nd against the pass and the run, with a solid scoring defense. They can be beat, especially if Hills is shut down.
Really? I mean we didn't even get 500 total yards today so when was the last time we did that? EDIT: Found it, the first week in 1994: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/199409040mia.htm
It's not often I'm shocked at a statistic... surprised, yes..... shocked, no... 15 years... .over 200 games... "only" 471 yards...
Raiders had the 3rd ranked Passing Defense and 2nd ranked Rushing offense before today, so that's what surprises me. The Raiders did nothing on the ground and rarely stopped the Dolphins passing game, and without Brandon Marshall. Maybe they'll use Marshall in a new way...but to be honest Bess runs the routes better than Marshall.
Ravens, Jets, Pitts, Bears, these teams have very good D's. Green Bay, Minnesota, did have very good D's. Not to trash the Raiders D but the teams we have had to deal with have been exceptional defensive teams making a tough road to score points. Nice to get a win with over 30 points scored for a change. So nice.
You mean to tell me that a Jay Fiedler/Ray Lucas/Brian Griese/AJ Feeley/Daunte Culpepper/Joey Harrington/Cleo Lemon/Sage Rosenfels/Trent Green/Gus Frerotte/Tyler Thigpen/Chad Pennington led team never got more than 471 yards in a game? Bullocks!
And we went very conservative when we shouldn't have. We could have had and should have had 500 plus yards
Many a dollar bill has passed to many g-strings since 1995. I kept up my end of the bargain all those years glad to see the O finally step up.
I know. But it actually makes sense when you think about it. Pre-Marino it was a different era. Post-Marino he's the only guy besides Fiedler to start more than one season. And even Fiedler's era didn't quite have the pass defense rules we have today. - sent from my Android via Tapatalk -
Henne definitely has a strong arm. Now if he can just improve his accuracy and decision making just a little and Henning and Sparano learn how to best use his talents, we will have our franchise QB. At least no one is saying he needs to improve his mechanics, throwing motion or release.
I remember thinking to myself how relaxed Henne looked right before he threw an interception near the goal line. Still though, he's definitely our best bet through next year regardless of who we draft. I think that will bode well for his maturation. BTW-Samphin your elaborate joke demeans us all...
Before Marino it was a run first and punishing defense league. Now all these recent super bowl teams like the Patriots and Colts and Saints can thank Marino for leading the way. If our offense could do this more often, we'd be amazing. Defense is currently ranked 6th in the NFL after today's game. And that's after facing the Jets, Steelers, Patriots, Ravens, Packers.
Second in team history in 300 yard passing games in what, 23 starts? Running an offense that can be ultra conservative with a confusing, sometimes non existent philosophy? With limited weapons and coaching that is sometimes extremely questionable? Yup....bench him and give up on him, he has no future.
man when moore took off i was extatic!! we NEVER have huge plays like that and it was soemthing just great to see!!
I've been saying this all season long...I've been beating the drum for the rush and look at what we do yesterday. 49 rushing attempts for 186 yards. It's not the yardage on the ground that I'm happy with, it's the fact that we made a committment to RUN the ball and what happened when we made that kind of committment? Henne has a monster game. I hope that Dan Henning has FINALLY learned his lesson here and this game wasn't a fluke in his game calling...commit to the run, take pressure off of your quarterback and keep the defense guessing...are they going to run, or are they going to pass and look at the results you get!!! An offensive juggernaught!! I was ESTATIC over yesterday's game. I was the only one in the famiy whose team won....Cowboys, Eagles, Colts all lost. LOVE being able to walk around with a grin on my face.
