Thats true. Although, winning it all on their turf would be sweet also. Shut those arrogant Phillie fans up. But,I feel the series will be coming back to the Bronx. Last night was HUGE. We need Tex to heat up also,he`s swinging at a lot of bad pitches.

C`mon C.C., get the job done tonight. If we go up 3 games to 1, gotta feel its ours.

I hope all the Yankee fans that are discussing what day to have the victory parade get really overconfident, just like in 2004 when they got ahead 3-0 on the Red Sox. The Phillies have Lee going for Game 5, and they can easily win this game. Then it would not be impossible to win two in NYC. It's going to be tough for the Phillies, but celebrating too soon may come back to bite you.

I mean to be honest, why not have confident in your team? I mean the Yankees are playing great Baseball right now, and personally i think they will win this series... Lasts night game was Huge and the fact that we came back after giving up a tying home run was big. Yesterdays game, it looked like the Phillies would come back and win... 2 outs in the 9th, it looked like the game would go to the Bottom of the 9th 4-4... I did not expect Damon to get a hit and make such a heads up play, but it worked out and we won the game. I personally would like to win tomorrow just so we win the series... I don't care where we do it.. Also we are not the 2004 yankees, we are better than that, and no offense, but the Phillies are not the 2004 Red Sox... I am not saying the Phillies have no chance to win the world series, because they do... If they do. As Yogi once said, its not over, till its over... But at the same time, there no way to i should think, as a yankee fan, that the Yankees will lose this series... You guys would be saying the same too if you were in the same situation, and knew that you still had two games in Phillie. And speaking of "celebrating too soon may come back to bite you" talk to Jimmy Rollins who said you guys would win in 5, six if your nice... At least give us more credit than saying we would only win 1 game... If you guys do win, it will be in 7.

    Edit:
btw i am so sick of the "2004 yankees blew a 3-0 lead" i hope we win the world series so we can stop hearing about that... The phillies are 1-6 in the World Series, and they Lost in 1993... what does that have to do with this world series? NOTHING, just like the 2004 Yankees...

Well this statement is just insane to begin with (yes I'm being sarcastic). If people thought like that (writers and the media especially) they'd have nothing to ever write/talk about. I mean it's the 2009 Cubs fault they didn't win the WS because they're cursed by a goat. Or the White Sox from 1920 to 2004 were cursed because of the gambling that happened in 1919. Or that the Angels couldn't beat the Red Sox because they lost to them in 86, 04, 07 and 08. Or that the Yankees couldn't beat the Angels because they had a losing record against them since 1995. See it makes for very boring writing that way as they have to come up with an angle on their own.

The Yankees and fans will always hear about 2004 when they're close to an elimination game. Why? Because there wouldn't be a story without it and it's easy writing. Much like people making a big deal with Sabathia or Arod not doing well in October until this year or every time the Red Sox did something bad before 2004 they'd show a clip of Babe Ruth. Or everytime Jeter makes an usual but obvious play they praise the guy for being so smart yet don't say a peep when he doesn't hit, makes an error or does something boneheaded. It's funny because if Arod was having Teixeira's October this year he would be getting buried right now by the media and fans.

Anyway the Yankees are clearly the better team here. The only way the Phillies would ahve had a shot is if Hamels pitched well in Game 3 and it didn't happen. Phillies might win tonight with Lee going but I wouldn't like their chances in NY against Pettite or CC, especially since Ryan Howard can't hit an off speed pitch from a LHP and everyone but Utley and Werth forgot how to hit.

Well just think, some people in a 3rd world country will be very confused when they go to pick up their 2009 Phillies World Series Back to Back Champions t-shirt, wearing a 2008 World Series Champion Tampa Bay Ray shirt.

Its over. The Phillies are shot emotionally. We're up 1-0 in the first. Philly will never overcome such a devastating lead. Insurmountable. ALL HAIL THE YANKEES!!!!! THE GREATEST SPORTS FRANCHISE IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD!!!!

need to make Cliff Lee throw another 20 pitch inning. The Phillies pitching him into the 9th will come back to haunt them

    :pity:
Yeah its impossible to score 6 runs off AJ, This game is over! Yankees Win! THE YANKEES WIN!!!

    back to reality...

Most likely we lost this game. The only thing that worries me is these pitchers have been pitching a lot and its going to catch up with them... No reason why we needed to start Aj today... You want to win, and your best chance to win is not Aj on 3 days rest... But its going to go back to the bronx so lets see how Andy does on 3 days rest

One thing i hate is when people celebrate way to early... 1-0 in the first is NOTHING...Game is 9 innings btw... its only the 1st inning and the Phillies have not even batted yet... This series is far from over, it all depends how Andy and CC pitch on 3 days rest after pitching so much in the playoffs... I am worried that both are going to be worn out...

According to Jon Heyman's column either today or yesterday Pettite admitted to teammates he had nothing on the ball for Game 3. Makes you wonder if he'll be able to go on 3 days IF there's a Game 6. Remember he had to be shut down in late August/early September for a tired shoulder.

so do we have our 6 run rally in the 8th or do we save it for the 9th and give the game a more dramatic flair. Personally I would split it into two innings. Too much risk to count on 6 runs in the 9th. Never know if someone slips or something.

Man the Yanks are just making this too dramatic. It's going to be too dramatic to comeback now. 6 runs down? We need to keep it reasonable so people dont suspect

two on zero outs bottom 8th arod up  you know its coming :shifty: can you deny destiny? can you alter fate? no,

8 to 4 buahahahahhahaha i think we stop at 8-7 after 8 to make the comeback more dramatic and memorable. perhaps a 2 run blast in the top of the 9th

alright 8-5. do we just win it in the 9th or do we merely tie it up and prolong the game? Personally I would vote for winning it in the 9th. It seems cruel to make them suffer through extra innings. I like the Phillies. Lots of class. I say we make the death as painless as possible. They deserve an honarable death

    first batter posada...... double

    second batter Matsui........single

3rd batter Jeter...........................bounces into double play/ posada scores

    damn 8-6/ 2 outs /noone on base

    johnny damon.............................single

If Andy does pitch Game 6, and pitches an amazing performance, and wins, he should Retire, it would be a fitting way to go out.

I AGREE. We have a few players we have to ease out. Matsui is probably gone next year. Damon and Posada probably are gone in 2011. Pettite would be on that list especially if he wins the ring this year. Hopefully Wang is back in full force next year

edit: BTW your boy Cano has to get his act in gear. Need him to have a good game finally
