Great win by Yankees today. Hughes pitched amazing, gave up 5 hits in 8 innings and gave up 0 runs... I wished they left him in to pitch the 9th... Great way to start off the series. BTW MLB i stupid in the fact that the yankees wore red hats... I know its memorial day but i have a simple solution, Home teams wear the red hats, cause Red looks better with white, and away teams wear the navy blue hats with the american flag... It would have looked a lot better with teams with gray jerseys or if they have red in their jerseys... Teams like the reds, cardinals, rangers, ect look great with the red hats, teams like the Yankees, A's. Rays ect do not
Been a while actually....lets improve our record vs. AL East and stay here. They are playing well, starting pitching and bullpen to closer have had positive innings. Lets keep it going and get into a consistent pattern of roles and responsibility. The D is playing so much better than I thought (thanks in large part to Tex's glove helping arms in infield). Good to have the offense back and healthy too...lots of options...giving mix and match rest/days-off, etc.
Their D has been amazing...18 games...new record! Joba was solid and on tonight from the word go.....great control and velocity setting up hitters. He made a highlight reel play as well that really helped his cause. Nice to see him go 8 innings and keep his pitch count under control the whole way.
This team is so fun to watch! Great start for a home stand! I am excited to see how we do against Boston!
AL East is the key...we have to take the series vs. TB & BOS and then I will trust that we are on the roll of rolls...we have been beating up the CENT and WEST....time to earn the pinstripes vs. EAST. Its the pitching and bullpen really....the hitting once AROD and POSADA returned has been nice...but prior, the bench guys held their own..the difference has been the SP and deep into the games to allow the PEN to find their comfort spots and jobs to do. The bats are returning to the "work the count", take the walk, and rip the hittable pitches approach we have come to love during their dynasty runs of the past.

Wow, not sure the point of the video...but great comeback yesterday...Wang had his best start to date...http://www.nypost.com/seven/0605200..._pits_ex_aces_past_vs__hughes_futu_172726.htmthe interesting part will be Hughes workload (or lack there of) out of the bullpen, and if its enough to keep him busy or if he goes back to rotation or minors based on Wang. Just classic by Sherman...
To show that the peanuts Melky was eating had more personality then he has? Either way I'm just glad I have a better body than he does.
Sat's loss was hard to watch, but Sun's win made up for it.....the battle in the AL East will be a back and forth tussle it seems.
Taking that series vs. TB was nice.....Mo has been used 3 straight....Sox up next, huge....Yanks have to take this 3 gm series vs. Sox (last one until Aug (then 10 gms remain) to make up for 1st 5 games.....since Arods return only series drop was to PHI (1-2)....starting next weekend Yanks play 9 straight road NL (no DH) games; weird!
Well, nice little hole we have dug ourselves in to start this YTD series with Sox. Dropping 8 straight is crazy....but yet....we are still tied for 1st in AL East...what does that say about both teams? So we now have 10 H2H match ups remaining I can only hope the mojo of this team vs. Sox changes and we grab a fair share...but at this point its hard to imagine based on what my eyes see when these two squads match up. No explanation for it really, but it getting to the point of being a mind-game more than anything else for us when we face them.
In the 48th round Yanks draft WVU QB Pat White (L/L CF)....hahahahaha....maybe the Wildcat is our only option to try to win a game vs Sox. Nice to know if things dont work out with Dolphins the Yanks can have his rights. Interesting.

So far i like what i seen from the yanks today. They are not leaving people on base, Pitching is getting out of jams, not making any errors, jeter makes an amazing play that many short stops would not make...Overall its a great performance by the yankees...It's good that we can win without arod doing much...hes been slumping lately but he will start to get hot
gift is right. It had me thinking, Imagine that was the Cubs, game 7 of the World Series, in Chicago, that person would have his life on the line
agreed...We need to sweep a team like that... also the Steal by Gardner shows the lack of confidence in arod imho... He was lucky that he was safe
watching Mike Francesa today i learned that yankee fans dont know what they are talking about. I feel Joe played the situation very well. First and third with 1 out and Cano up... You can not ask to be in a better situation. If i can do it all over again i would not change anything. We lost, thats it. get over it, and worry about todays game, if it still happens. Also we should not even be in that position, as we should have scored earlier.
What were they expecting or demanding JG do in that situation? 1) I didnt listen, but the only thing I thought about was starting Arod on the 2-2 pitch (thats a gamble). 2) Call Cano back to the bench and say "Hey, idiot, he has thrown you nothing but low and outside pitches, how about staying back and going with the pitch to hit a simple Sac-fly to Left".... other than those two things..nope, its all on Cano's shoulders and he failed. It happens...move on.
i agree, the only thing i would have done was start a-rod on the 2-2 pitch. But then they might have walked cano to pitch to posada, who likes to ground out into double plays, but then you got bases loaded and 1 out, and then the guy needs to throw strikes, who is a wild pitcher.
Either scenario a PROFESSIONAL hitter has to know the only thing they can not do is hit a ground ball double play....thats it.... 1) Line Drive Out..no runner advances..next guy up...check..it happens. 2) FC and 1 out remains...check..it happens 3) K, and 1 out remains..check..it happens 4) Ground ball and beat out the double play, tying run scores, check... 5) Sac-Fly, tie score, check.. 6) Basehit, tie score, rally continues...check 7) Homer, walk off game over...check Nope...he blew it...but it happens
Just wanted to say great game tonight. Two pitchers that can dominate any given night went at it, and my team just barely came out on top.
Johnny Damon should have caught that catch. Also if you are giving A-rod two days off, give him the full two days off...
Thats very true. If we're using excuses though, Uggla should have turned that extremely routine double play. You'd still have lost 1-0. I agree with the A-Rod thing though, or just pinch hit him and take him out if he gets on base.
I say dont even have him pinch hit, you have yesterday off for him, and today and then tomorrow, off day...3 full days for him to rest, and get him hopefully back to old arod
I am wondering if Girardi was doing these "days off" for A-Roids in Miami to fire A-Roids up ? Piss him off, and then get a huge end of June and through July because A-Roids is really driven.
A-ROD asked for these days off... He was hurt and miss the first 20 something games of the season, since hes been back he has not have one day off...So Girardi just granted A-rods request
