GO KINGS! Best team I have seen in the postseason in a long time. Dominate. Only 2 loses in a Stanley cup so far, unbelievable
Gotta tip my hat to the kings. Doubted them in the first rd and doubted them in the finals. Very good defense and timely offense. Its their year.
Fun hockey as well, this is not the sort of check/check..power play..penalty kill hockey it is more touch passes across the ice and then a give and go with the puck. Brodeur crying a bit last night, if he had controlled the puck, they would have blown the whistle he just never found the handle on it,.
a #8 seed has never won the cup right? It's just crazy how quickly this team has come together, with the new coach. I suppose exceptional goal tending will make up for it.
honest question..would i be considered "bandwagon fan" because im rooting for my home team? i havent attended a game in years, dont own any Kings gear(wont even if/when they win the cup), havent watched hockey since the strike untill the start of this years playoff
That is how it kind of goes with hockey. I like the Hurricanes and Sabres, both teams were bad this yr, but I'm still enjoying the cup.
Have you ever rooted for the Kings before? I used to be a pretty big fan back during the Gretzky era. Never went to one of those games, but watched a lot on tv, not just playoffs. I maybe watched a handful of regular season games this year. But like you, didn't watch religiously until the start of the playoffs. I've gone to one Kings game and that was about 7 years ago. No Kings gear here either. Like Padre says, I generally don't show much interest in hockey until the playoffs. But I do miss watching Bob Miller and Jim Fox locally. The NBC guys are okay, but generally have been biased against the Kings. Emrick is good. He's like an Ian Eagle. Really puts some emotion into it. He was exceptional when US played Canada last Olympics. He makes the sport fun for the casual or first time watcher. But to me, there's nothing like an OT game in the playoffs. So friggin nerve racking.
Knew the devils were going to win at least once, probably twice. 1-1 heading into the 3rd thought it would be one of those OT deals.
Yeah, not too worried as the resident Kings homer. Devils played really, really well last night and aside from the empty netter, they earned their goals (as opposed to the golas earlier this finals that were flukes and cheap). But they now have the unenviable task of trying to stop the Kings from winning...on the road...where they are undefeated. Good luck. A small part of me wants them to force a game 6 so that I can hop a plane and attend, but the fan in me wants the Kings to stomp on their necks come Saturday and just fly down for the parade.
Nope, no 8 seed has won the cup. Getting Carter and Richards was exactly what that team needed. More firepower up front to take the pressure off their D. Yes. Because you seem like the bandwagon type agreed but i doubt its happening. If you get G5 be proud they made it that close. But Parise's dad was on the 75 Islanders that came back and won a series that they were down 3-0 in and then tied up another series in 75 after being down 3-0.
Kings deserve more credit then a 8th seed... There were 1 or 2 points away from the #3 seed Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
awesome 1st two periods so far. Devils had two great goals and the kings capitalize yet again on a devils mistake. 3rd period will be nuts
The Devils show how difficult it is to eliminate a team in the playoffs. Kings better be careful. Devils are starting to find the net
Still doubting? LA is feeling the pressure, to see that all you have to do is watch Sutter's presser, very testy.
Kings outplayed them yesterday. Two very unfortunate... sloppy... lucky... flukey goals. Again off Voynov into the net? Lets not forget that the first goal (which has decided every game so far) was set up by a bad decision for a penalty. Kings were really trying to get that first goal... first five minutes were balls to the wall. And they hit the post three times? The "luck" vs "unluck" has to be at least even now (The Devils were unlucky back in game 1 to not win it in regulation... even though the Kings outplayed them then too). Time for the Kings to end this. Game 6 it is!! Lets hope the refs don't help decide this one either. Who knew that you could punch a player in the face as he's entering your zone with the puck and get away with it?
You really need to give the Devils ALOT more credit. Seems Kings fans have a hard time doing this for some odd reason.
EPIC!! Best team won. I give Jersey credit for not rolling over and putting up a strong fight. But the Kings were just too much. Great all around team. Listening to a Bob Miller interview this morning on the local news. Shame that he couldn't call the game. They did record a play by play that will be released with a DVD later. Congrats to him and Jim Fox and the rest of the Kings organization. So many players... 45 years.... If the Kings can win this... hell maybe the Dolphins can win a SB in my lifetime.
I am not sure it has sunk in yet. I am planning on heading to the rally tomorrow, which means I need to book my flight. As a long suffering Kings fan (as well as hockey in general) this more than make sup for any woes my other pro teams have given me. The best trophy in sports now belongs to L.A. Awesome. And the best part is, after they sign Quick...they don't really have too many holes they need to fill. Penner and Stoll are the two primary free agents and if Gagne can come back for a final season (he has already alluding to playing out his contract and retiring), then you can simply let Penner walk, replace him with an amazing scoring threat in Gagne, re-sign Stoll for the lower lines and still have money to go after someone like, oh I don't know...PARISE. I really think L.A. is in a nice position to become a Western Conference power for awhile. Young, talented and under contract and already knowing how to win on the big stage. They have a shot to do something special for a few years.
Congrats Sam... My Oilers almost pulled off what the Kings did as the 8th seed a few years back...must be a good feeling...
We actually have one of your guys on our team from the Edmonton team. And yes, it's awesome living in Sharks country and being able to gloat like this.
I was thinking of Jarrett Stoll, I don't think PEnner was on the Stanley Cup Finals Oilers team. Also, I think Matt Greene was on that team too, come to think of it. Jeex, we really borrowed from Edmonton and Philly for this run.
The Boss, Don Cherry picked the Kings to win. Why? Good job Kings. Knocked off 1, 2, and 3rd seed in the West. Played outstanding hockey!
Final puck is missing... http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-p...kings-missing-stanley-cup-205159621--nhl.html
Psyched Edmonton got Nail Yakapov.....First time ever in NHL history that the first line will be all #1 picks.... Now if they could find a goaltender, they would be scary, especially in a few years...
Finally Edmonton is addressing their blue line signing Justin Schultz....BIG signing.....they just keep acquiring talent, man they are going to be good in a few years...
They re-signed Ryan Smyth too. I consider him to be a little *****, but he is Mr. Canada so good for him and them...I guess. Bernier is going to be traded by L.A. Just so people know how good of a goaltender is can be, Jonathan Quick was supposed to be our bridge to Bernier. He is ready to be a top goalie for any team that needs one, imo.
he is a body that stands in front of the net though, something they dont have much of....they right now are all speed, and need to be a little bigger.... and yes Edmonton needs a goalie BAD......
