Of course Big Red comes through for us. That's a pretty big win. Even if we lose the rubber game we can go into the ASB feeling pretty good only 3 1/2 back. Best case we're knocking on the door back 1 1/2. I wonder how Freddie plans to cut down Venters' workload down the stretch? I'd like to see him not continue having the most relief innings in the NL.

Well, the put Chipper on the DL for MCL surgery, I'd suspect that means Prado and maybe Conrad see some time at 3rd.

His last save against the Rockies broke it at 27. He's just padding it now. Let's hope he makes it 29 tomorrow.

I'd guess Prado. It seems like they're expecting him back after the break.

Well, can't blame them m979, they kicked our butts and took 2 of 3, they sold everything they had to assemble this team so let them enjoy it.

Don't know if you guys saw but I just found out. Not looking good for Medlen coming back which is a shame. We could use him. Maybe in September but I don't think he'll make his august deadline.

That really sucks but not a huge surprise. It took Huddy almost an entire season of rehab. That seems to mostly be the standard. We'll probably see him work a few innnings in September or something. It could help if Moylan could at least come back. Any news on his status?

That was a wild one today. The Nats always make them earn it. JJ had a rough outing just like Tommy yesterday. I hope they've gotten rid of the all-star break cobwebs now.

Wow..Bourne for Schaffer and 4 minor leaguers...Braves are serious this yr, that is our best lead off hitter since Kenny Lofton.

I thought it was three minor leaguers.

Great trade either way. It will be great to have a real lead off man that our good hitters can drive in. I don't think I can stand watching alex gonzales and the bottom of the order fail to get a man in from third with less than two outs too many more times.

Somebody tell the Atlanta Braves that they didn't clinch a playoff spot at the All-Star break. Damn it I'm getting tired of watching this sad excuse for offensive baseball. And while we're at it bring back the real Jair Jurrjens.

I too noticed JJ has been having a hard time as of late. The funny thing about the offense is I think uggla's been doing better lol

Freeman and Uggla get hits at will and then are stranded by everybody else. The bottom of the order has been downright awful at getting runs over, even with less than two outs. JJ seems to be leaving pitches up a lot, he's had five homers hit off of him since the break, definitely not typical.

I'm starting to get worried about the last two months of the season. This has turned into an extended slump for the team as a whole.

Derek Lowe cost us a ballgame tonight. Complete garbage. This team is too talented to be falling behind in the wild card which is going to happen soon with this sorry excuse for baseball being played every night.

The Grind is in full effect right now, game after game in the summer heat, not sure if Freddi has had to deal with this before.

This is making me sick and what the hell is Freddi going to do about it? Nothing but garbage since the All-Star break. How about actually caring about winning a game and pulling Lowe when it's clear that he can't keep his pitches down? A grand slam isn't enough, we need to wait until he gives up a two run shot on top of it. Rest that bullpen Freddi... they'll get plenty of rest in October at this rate. This is the most talented Braves team in years and they're flushing it down the toilet.

What's funny is I ****ing knew Ankiel was going to hit a slam and I was going to have to listen to these Nats broadcasters verbally felate him some more. Damn MLB extra innings for blacking out the Braves broadcast in favor of these local guys. I could at least suffer with friendly broadcasters...

He needs to pull his head out of his fourth point of contact. If he would have pulled Derek Lowe at the right time it would be a manageable game. Newsflash Freddi, it's 90+ outside and the guy you have on the mound is 38.

Oh don't look now, another gNats homer.

He crushed that thing. A no doubter to the deepest part of Citi Field. It's great to get out of that place with a series win and head down south to play a team we've done much better against this season. I can't believe how many homers were hit in this series in that stadium.

The ball carries better there during the summer months for some reason. It's happened that way the last couple of years

I'm more concerned about Reyes exiting personally.

That's bad news. As good as he can be the injuries he constantly gets are going to have to hurt his value some in free agency. I just wonder how much.

I'm still stunned that the Mets are 4 back in the Wildcard...and were sellers at the trade deadline...wow...that is messing with my sense of reality, toss in Santana is out and double wow.

As for Reyes, imo the Beltran debacle should speak loudly, injured players are not good bets B14, not with that much money on the line, this is one of the reasons why Pujlos should get the big payday..the man is a tank and likely to play everyday no ifs ands or buts

We just destroyed Carlos Zambrano, five homers in 4+ innings. Of course his reaction is to throw at Chipper and get himself ejected. God that guy is a joke and a disease to baseball. I suppose he expects the Atlanta hitters to just stand there while he throws pitches over the middle of the plate.

I believe it's spelled Constanza. Yeah his performance has far exceeded even probably the most optimistic expectations when he was called up. I wouldn't have thought he would have played well enough to steal time from even a slumping Jason Heyward. He is a man with no intention of going back to AAA ball.
