Can't wait to see the bidding war for AJ Pierzynski between the Yankees and Dodgers.

I like the deal for the Pirates.....AJ liked him, and know Karsteans has a good backstop to throw the ball too... :shifty:

It's not a bad deal at all for the Pirates. I'm just surprised the Yankees didn't even make an offer. That's a decent hole they need to fill now.

It's on Twitter. All I've read so far is Zachary Lee would be in the deal.

That wouldn't make sense for the Dodgers. The idea is to have both.

What makes no sense to me is the Dodgers have no big time prospects for Hernandez. You need more than Zach Lee.

I'm calling BS on that Twitter rumor. Unless Kershaw and/or Kemp is involved the Dodgers don't have enough prospects to make that happen, nor do I think Seattle would ever trade Felix.

EDIT: Just went on Twitter, haven't seen anything about this rumor.

    David Wiess @WiessD

Sources: @Dodgers & Mariners are talking about a trade that would bring Felix Hernandez to LA; Zach Lee would be included in the deal.

That tweet was 3 hours ago. None of the usual writers (Olney, Heyman, Rosenthaul, Gammons etc) have tweeted anything about it. The guy either has a super secret great source or is trying to get Twitter hits. Just find it strange no one else is even mentioning it. Plus it just doesn't pass the smell test to me, there are a bunch of teams that could offer Seattle a better package of prospects than the Dodgers could.

Wright resigned with the Mets. 8/138, the largest contract in Mets history.

Holy ****, could you imagine a 1-2 punch of Kershaw and Hernandez?

I would think that more than Zachary Lee would be needed. Kemp and Kershaw are out of the equation. Ethier cold be shippe and perhaps Puig, but that would be with L.A. eating a big chunk of their contracts. L.A. Has a ton of starting pitchers right now. Clearly someone like Capuano, Harang or Lilly would have to be moved as well. Either in this deal or a separate one.

For now though, I will envision a rotation of Kershaw, Hernandez and a freshly signed Greinke leading the rotation.

There is no way this is anything more then an attention seeking rumor from twitter. The Dodgers dont have anything close to what it would take to land Felix. Even if they emptied the farm they would be looking at having to extend Kershaw and Felix..... no way they could pull off both.

Yeah completely made up by the tweeter. None of the big gun writers have commented on it. It's been 12 hours since his tweet, surely if it had legs someone else would have spoken up about it.

Yeah me too. It's ok for bad teams to have good players. I like it when a great player stays with the same club for his whole career or when bad teams are still able to keep those players.

I agree generally, but how depressing would it be to never see him in the playoffs? A guy like that and fans for that matter deserve to see him twirl in October you know?

Was very happy with this. Takes him through his age 37 season. Unless hes dealt he will be one of the few mets to be home grown and spend more then 10 years with the club. The Mets are now looking at moving Dickey or Niese for a bat since Zach Wheeler should be ready sooner then later.

Supposedly Nats are shopping Michael Morse...

Angels get Tommy Hanson...not sure about the full return yet but looks like Jordan Walden was involved: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/...tml?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

Tommy Hanson got traded to the Angels. Kind of a bummer. Thought he was gonna be an elite pitcher. He's struggled with velocity and command the last couple years.

Don't like the trade for the Braves.

Kind of crazy how the future looked so bright with Jair Jurrjens and Tommy Hanson a few seasons ago and now they both are gone. You just never know what will happen.

I actually kind of like this deal for the Braves. They get back an interesting bullpen arm for an extremely risky SPer in terms of him being able to hold up due to his delivery. Braves obviously know more about Hanson and his medicals than we do, they must be worried about him staying healthy. I know its easy to look at this deal and kill the Braves for it but Hanson hasn't been Hanson hasn't been the same pitcher since 2011. I wouldn't trust him to stay healthy either.

Don't like this deal, Hanson is young enough to bounce back and bullpen arms are not that difficult to find.

Suspect this has more to do with the Braves feeling they have enough pitching to move him for a bullpen arm that is cheap.

It looks like a salary dump. You're right though, it's definitely about his health. They have Delgado and Teheran ready. No need to keep Tommy around when you can throw those guys in and clear 4 million, which hopefully will be used on a LF.

And Hanson was going to enter arbitration for the first time, I believe. This saves them about 3.5 million, which can be used to acquire another bat. Maybe another OF like Swisher?

Trading him might be the right move but you have to get more back for him than an interesting reliever. Maybe a couple B prospects with an elite tool, and a Bonifacio type. This is pretty bad as currently constructed.

A lot of people are thinking Swisher or Victorino. The Braves have ~13 Million left to spend. The optimist in me hopes there can be a deal made for Justin Upton.

Wren seems to have a plan most of the time. It honestly wouldn't surprise me if he acquired Walden just to flip him in a package for a LF.

I don't know enough about the Braves payroll situation but I really think this has to do with health concerns. He's always been labeled as a big health risk due to his delivery, I just think the Braves either know something we don't about his arm/shoulder/elbow or figure now is the only time they'll be able to trade him for any value. You normally don't trade a good 26 year old starting pitcher with 3 years of control left because of payroll.

Yeah you have a good point but perhaps other teams passed on him because of his medicals. Maybe this was the best deal they could do. I've always been a Walden fan though and have really worried about Hanson for awhile too. This kind of reminds me of the Rays/Angels Scott Kazmir deal where everyone was surprised Kazmir not only got traded but the return wasn't that great. Who knows.
