Agreed! C.C. is a very nice pitcher, but he is no longer an ace. He simply isnt reliable enough. He also has some serious playoff issues.
Agreed. I don't get why people are so down on Sabathia. He's been one of the best pitchers in baseball since 2007. I'm gladly take him on my team. If he's not an ace, which 5 AL pitchers are better than he is? Obviously Felix Hernandez and Justin Verlander but then who? David Price? Last year he gave the Yankees 237 innings, K'ed 230 men, a 3.00 ERA, had an ERA+ of 147 while pitching in the AL East. If that's not an ace I don't know what an ace is.
He'd be even better if Joe Girardi didn't over think things and make him walk the Sean Rodriguez's of the world...
Yea, C.C Sabathia is definitely an ace. Looking at his numbers from 2006 through 2012, you'll see just that.
yeah exactly the guy is in the top 5 best pitchers in baseball, eats innings and wins 20 every year. the only 2 pitchers i would take over him are the 2 you mentioned.
I would take Lester, and Weaver over him too....he is probably the 5th best right now in the AL.... he has won 20 games once in 11 years....
Only 4 games have been played, we havent even gone through the entire rotation once.....wow, reactions are hysterical (literally and figuratively)....
Jeter for MVP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just call Nova.....Cy Nova..... ehhhhhhhh you know me BDH.....talk to me in October...thats when that money being paid out is really earned
Looks like Burnett hasnt truly left the Yanks, he passed the wild pitch torch onto Garcia for tonight....
my bad but i mean hes won 19,21,19 in the last 3 seasons with eras of just over 3. lester has never won 20 neither has weaver, although weaver is a nasty pitcher lester is only 3 years younger and weaver is only 2 years younger. plus lester never comes close to the amount of innings cc throws year after year.
That's the biggie right there. Pitcher wins are meaningless but innings pitched is a pretty big deal.
yeah i mean cc innings sinc 2007 241.0 253.0 230.0 237.1 237.2 lester 63.0 210.1 203.1 208.0 196.0 not crapping on lester i like him alot actually its just to pitch as many innings as he does and he still goes out their is just mind blowing, look what the brewers did in 2008 the guy never complained and asked for it.
I agree, it's kind of crazy that a guy that size can throw that many innings year in and out. That could be a reason why he doesn't have the post season success that someone like him should. Perhaps he just throws too much during the season and is shot when the post season comes around.
yeah i have been saying that, just with 230+ innings and another 20+ in the postseason i think he just gets exhausted it sometimes looks like it IMO thats why hes been trying to lose weight to help
CC is an ace in that he eats innings, is a bulldog and will take the ball on 2 days rest in a emergency situation as needed.... He however is not a shut down ace he just isnt, and the numbers show it.... All I am saying is don't be shocked and scratch your head if at the end of the year if NY makes the playoffs, that the numbers reflect last years...same with Tex, Swisher and A-Rod....I have been saying the samething now for a while... I hope it changes....cuz you know they get paid like it should...
Yanks get swept by Rays, then sweep Os. so be it....lets get to the Stadium and really kick the season off....
right on.... Waldman was saying Posada is throwing the first pitch out tomorrow to Rivera..... that they asked Jeter to do it, but he didnt want to because it is too emotional (catch Posada's pitch)...
He wasnt a throw in, he was the required body in return for Noesi.....Pineda and Montero swapped....and yes, I stated earlier with the Pineda whinning over his DL stint, that Campos has been solid all spring and into the farm season. A great arm to go with our B-boys in the future. did you see this PGammons tweet a few days past:
Whether it was Campos or another player, he was tacked on....much like Noesi could have been one of the B's...they werent the main piece.... I didnt mean it as a scrub throw in....but the add on.. havent been on twitter much since Manning signed....it is all a bunch of Dolphin incompetence right now...
I just dont get the warm and fuzzies before he pitches. He seems to struggle a lot, he never goes out there and just blows people away. Dont getme wrong, in all senses of the word he is an ace, but i dont feel comfortable like say when Andy or moose took the mound.
I'm really not worried about the pitching staff. The middle of the order worries me. The Yankees had no idea Mark Teixeira would revert to what he has. They knew A-Rod would age, maybe not as quickly, but the Tex downward spiral has hurt the offense. At this point. Rodriguez, Teixeira, and Swisher (all expected RBI guys) are the soft spot for this team. That's really evident against the best pitching in the playoffs, where Teixeira and Swisher have come up very small.
Yeah, of course except for the Title delivered in 2009 (only 2 seasons removed) Moose? Of all the names you could have listed, frankly he and Mattingly walk down the bridesmaid aisle in my book (player or coach)....names that mean more when spoken then the reality of what had to be some voodoo curse to never bring home the bacon! shame! Seriously, if Moose ever rejoined the Yanks as coach I would guarantee no rings till he left, just like Donnie Baseball (crossing myself as I say his name) - Love him, but darn its spooky!
He is not a shut down pitcher....people disagree thats fine... I dont care about the regular season, most times when you need a big time game from him whether in the regular and certainly in the playoffs AS A YANKEE, he comes up very small.... for the price tag, he needs to be a shut down guy, dominant in all facets he isnt....
This...finally some common sense.... they have 63 million dollars tied up in 3 players that dont come up in big stages... Especially Tex, everytime I see that dude I say to myself.... "This guy just isnt good" I have absolutely no confidence in him....his approach at the plate is so ****-eyed....
They flipped A-Rod and Cano in the batting order apparently... A-Rod batting 3rd, and Cano batting 4th....
34 years ago today (April 13th 1978) I was at Yankee Stadium with Dad and brother and handed a "Reggie Bar" upon entering, and watched as Reggie Jackson rips a first pitch HR (in essence his 4th straight 1st pitch HR for the 4th consectutive at bat dating back to prior 1977 WS Game 6 clinching Victory)....and all those Reggie Bars rained down on the field....I didnt throw mine as I had already eaten it by the time we took our seats...hahahaha. what a day to remember as a young boy!!!
