Classic Tbum....getting rid of picks when we have a lot of needs. For our deepest position too.

Judging a draft on the day it happens is about as useful as a flashlight is to a blind man.

True but that shouldn't stop us from noticing that we gave up three picks for a player we really didn't need imo.

800 yards and 10 touchdowns in 8 games.. That's pretty impressive. I may have saw his stat line before and thought it was for a full season. That's why I'm not a scout. Sumlit, where are you getting 3rd rounder for next year? Only saw conditional 4th.

You had to get another WR. Have to somehow replace Matthews' production and Parker's route-running still unknown (but it will be better).

Everyone is reporting it. 6th this year, and 3rd and condt 4th next year.

However strictly speaking, the cost was only a 6th and the condt 4th, because the 3rd round pick was used this year instead of next.

Dolphins also likely getting compensatory picks in 3rd and 5th round next year, hence why they likely felt comfortable making this trade.

Wr is a position you cannot ever have enough talent at. Competition will give us a better group.

I knew they would pick WR, I didn't think it was gonna be in the 3rd round. I thought it might be first round BPA (obviously didn't happen) or late. Seems they really like Carroo.

The whole point of letting OV & Miller walk was to be rewarded. To take advantage of the draft picks windfall next year. If the F.O. wanted to target a special player they should have used those picks to trade up in the early second round. Now it'll just seem like a trade off imo.

Carroo is my second favorite draft pick behind Tunsil. He's a stud. Wish he was a bit taller since ideally he'll be on the outside with Jarvis in the slot but I like the offense he comes from and what he can do with the ball. Parker, Carroo, and Landry could be a strength of ours in the future.

am i the only one that thinks Carroo is a Jarvis Landry clone? similar size, a lot of toughness, solid hands, makes plays after the catch...I'm disappointed we didn't address LB at all this draft and I'm really not a fan of the Drake pick...but, I am not opposed to watching two Jarvis Landrys running around on the field together. hopefully dude can stay out of

Whos gonna be next bench warmer? Stills or Carroo? ***** please...

He's projected as a 2nd or 3rd rounder. We traded up to 23. Steelers have a Bryant suspension problem and sat at 26. Patriots were at 29. Leonte Carroo's visits according to walterfootball:

    Leonte Carroo, WR, Rutgers

    49ers^ (WOR, SR)
    Dolphins (PRI)
    Eagles (COM)
    Giants (LOC)
    Jets (LOC)
    Patriots (PRI)
    Saints (PRI)
    Texans (PRI)

If the kid turns out to be a stud, just imagine what Brady was going to do with him in the next two years. If the FO wanted him (and obviously they did) the trade was a no brainer.

No one knows who would've been "there"...I guarantee if the Giants had traded up to get Apple or the Raiders to get Joseph, people would make the same points.

Bottom line...we have one of the best players at great value in the draft, at a huge position of need. We have a a CB to add to Maxwell, McCain, Taylor, and Lippett. And a new DC that knows how to develop DBs. We have a running back that is electric with the ball in his hands and can play STs. And we replaced Rashad Matthews at a fraction of the cost with a younger (faster) player.

There are some reasons to be optimistic. There are always reasons to complain.

I loved the drafting of Tunsil. I admit I really don't know much about any of the players drafted in the second and third rounds.
Hopefully they will work out, but I was hoping this would be a draft where defensive players were the priority.

I went into this draft feeling the Dolphins are at least two and possibly three years away from being a legitimate playoff contender. While the offense should be better with Gase calling the plays and the addition of Tunsil on the line. I still believe the Dolphins will be a bottom ten defense in 2016.

So hopefully they will be able to add impact defensive players in the 2017 draft and they can become a factor by 2018, instead of 2019, as I have predicted for quite some time.

This still looks like a team roster which will be lucky to finish 6-10 in 2016, but I always saw this coming season as the beginning of another rebuilding process. So as long as they improving as the year goes along, that will at least give me some hope for the future.

I think the strategy may have changed after unexpectedly landing Tunsil, where the thinking switched to become more offensive since the team has young tackles under control for at least the next 3 years. Gase is also under control so it may make sense to develop an identity as an offensive team. As for the defense, they've brought in a number of veterans plus there are a few more that may sign. Since Miami is considered a stepping stone for Vance Joseph career, it may make sense to provide him with lots of veterans that he can 'coach up' before moving on as another team's head coach.

So basically it isn't about building a defense for the future by drafting young talented players. Instead according to you, it is all about advancing the career of Vance Joseph.

I do hope you realize how ridiculous this would be for the Dolphins organization if there were actually any truth to it.

He also took 4 years to get into the WR rotation to make regular contributions. The Steelers hit on a 7th round WR, but that hasn't altered their strategy of using valuable picks to draft WR and allowing most of them to move on after their initial contract.

The Dolphins have had success with finding DBs (Jones, Carroll, and McCain) on the last day of the draft so this may balance out potentially over-drafting offensive skill players.

I didn't mean it as that. My intention was to highlight that this draft may provide Gase with 3 years of core offensive players to incorporate into a new system, while the strategy for the defense is short term. It's mutually beneficially for the Dolphins and Joseph for the defense to out-perform and many have found success by favoring veterans over development. In other words, the front office is supplying the defense with Isa Abdul-Quddus's and not using draft picks and playing time for Walt Aitken's type of player.
