You can't completely fix a bad team in one offseason and one draft. If the three offensive draft picks can help our offense score more, get more first downs, eat up more clock then you make your defense better and give your team a better chance to win.

This draft has me nervous but such potential. We took a risk on Tunsil everyone knows it but the upside is so huge how could we not. Howard is the physical corner we wanted, yes he needs more coaching but at this point of the draft which CB didn't. Drake is a Gase RB, that is a Darren Sproles type player who can catch and block. I think Carroo is Gase's pick. There was a tweet by Josh Norris about a recently Hired HC putting his star on Carroo. He drew plenty of attention due to his chunk plays.

Yes you can. New Orleans Saints 2006. Atlanta Falcons, 2008. Partially the Dolphins in 2008.

What you see is a bunch of teams that got good to stellar QB play turn around their team in one year. If we have the QB, it shouldn't be hard at all if Gase is a good coach and the FO made the right moves.

Drake is actually not a great pass catcher. He often drops, muffs, or double catches balls thrown to him. I'm worried he may be a guy that we have to be creative with getting the ball in his hands. I'll do a full draft write up on all our players once the draft is over.

I don't think anyone is touting him as the next Jerry Rice. He is not a "great" pass catcher, however, he is a RB who can and has lined up in the slot and beat the defense badly with his play. Drake, playing against the best defenses in college (SEC) averaged 6 yards per touch. He's faster than any linebacker in the NFL (the position that will be covering him most of the time) and he's not a huge guy, but he's bigger than most DB's. Not to mention that he came from a RB by committee team in Alabama so he knows how to turn it on when not fully warmed up.

Also, he doesn't go down as easily as Miller does.

I think the NFL is going to change that, he's a skinny RB.

I do think he can be a very good receiver out of the back field, he's shown that ability, but UCF Finatic is right when he points out that Drake has a problem with "focus" drops.

So we just traded out of the fifth round in exchange for the Patriots' two sixths and one of their seventh.

Apparently there is no conviction on the remaining players .

IMO they have several UDFAs they are interested in and they want to make sure they get them before other teams do .Ergo the need for all of those late round picks.

****ing Denver. They screw up the offseason, get a quality Qb prospect and a good value RB in Booker, **** that team. Oh well if they have Butt Fumble starting for them their season is in the toilet.

Pats make Fins look like idiots, we trade 5th rounder to Pats for 2 6ths and a 7th, Pats promptly trade same pick for a 4th next year and 7th this year.

    Fins just got used.

I'd take flyers on Jakeem Grant and Laquan McGowan.

Hickey made hay in the 5th last year. Maybe Grier can spin some magic in the 6th and 7th.

Fins have 5 picks in these last two rounds, greatly increasing their chance to hit on someone.

We literally lost the value standpoint on the trade value chart. Committed a cardinal sin in trading the pick well before we were on the clock too. I just don't get it. It wasn't like the deal was too good to say "no" to. Such piss poor management of the draft. This has been worse than I could have imagined.

    So to recap

TRADE: Dolphins trade their No. 147 pick to Patriots for their Nos. 196, 204 and 250 picks

Pats trade same pick for a 4th next year and up 18 spots in later round.

I'd rather have what the pats got for our pick

That 4th could have replaced the 4th we lost in our trade yesterday. And yes I know about our comp picks for next year. We could have had a 1,2,3,3,4,4,4 if we didn't make the receiver trade and traded with saints

Imagine what we could have done next year when the draft class won't be this weak

    That's the Miami Dolphins spirit!

But what more can the organization expect from us after not attending the playoffs since 2008 and not winning a playoff game since 2000. Nothing isn't really that serious.

You should watch more college football.

Howard, whom I watched every single Baylor game he played in, will fit in nicely.

Drake, as I've mentioned before, is a game changer.

Every player in every draft carries the possibility of boom, average, or bust. Hell, Tunsil could turnout to be a bust. If the Pats had taken Drake most people here would be threatening suicide because they think BB is a god and Drake would be running over us 2 x's every season. Hell, if you want to see bad drafts look at the Pats drafts over the past decade.

I can assure you that I watch more than enough college football. I watch multiple games of every player and come to my own conclusions about said player.

I'm going to do a full write up about each player sharing my thoughts on each guy after the draft.

Drake cannot run up the middle and looks to break everything outside. Yes, he has game changing speed but when he's in the game you'd just have to have the DEs play contain and he's done for. Poor pass catcher too. Will have to manufacture touches specifically for him.

A 4th from next year is much more likely to start contributing sooner than any 6th or 7th this year.

This flawed logic is why we have teetered in mediocrity for a decade. We are not one or two moves away for contending for a super bowl, yet we always operate like we are one piece away.

In a sense think of it like investing. If I said would you rather have a $1,000 today or $5,000 tomorrow which would you take?

A 4th has a much higher chance of making an impact than a 5th. If you have to wait a year to make that selection it's rough, but the value is still there. Also I try to think about this from 5 years in the future; if today was 2021 would you have rather had a 5th in 2016 or a 4th in 2017. It makes the answer quite simple then.

He dropped 5 out of 44 passes thrown his way. Like I mentioned, he's not great, but he's a threat catching the ball and he will command coverage no matter where he is on the field.

I remember reading that same comment numerous times after the 2013 draft. Unfortunately in hindsight the 2013 draft ended up being one of the worst in Dolphin history.

Other than Tunsil, who should be a great player for the Dolphins if he comes in and plays to his ability. I have no idea whether the other players drafted will be effective in the NFL or not.

I am not saying this is a good or bad draft for the Dolphins at this time. Because I have learned over the years that you really can't judge a draft until a few years after these players have been in the league.

So I hope in a few years I can look back on this draft and say it was one of the better drafts the Dolphins had in years. Right now, I just don't know.

And how many of those catches did he double clutch and muff? He's not a natural pass catcher at all. Also look at how many times he caught the ball in motion; he stops to catch the ball. A LB can easily cover him based on how he caught the ball at Alabama despite his 4.4 speed.

I agree. None of us truly will know what this draft class was for 2-4 years. However, on paper, this looks to be a good draft. And most definitely not a "worse than I could have ever imagined" draft.
