With the 194[SUP]th[/SUP] pick in the 2015 GML draft, the New York Jets select:

    Jean Sifrin, TE – Massachusetts

    Height:
6’5” Weight: 245 lbs. Experience: Junior

We feel our Tight End group is underrated but still has great potential. Virgil Green is an athletic H-Back who can block and catch passes short, having played with Peyton before while Chase Ford is an underutilized diamond in the rough. To round out our group we like the potential of Jean Sifrin, someone who is older than the typical rookie but has huge mitts and good athleticism. While he still needs work as an in-line blocker, we think he can contribute right away as our third TE and as a move player, playing out Wide and being a force in the Red Zone.

    STRENGTHS:
Huge hands, 11’. Carries his pads well. Aligns a lot inside at the No. 2/No. 3 slot positions, but has also been used outside in their empty formations. They use him on seams, drive-dig and smash-7 combinations from those spots. With his hand in the dirt, he runs boots to the field and corner patterns (Indy Drives) to the trips side of the formation. Capable of going up tall to make traffic, contested body control grabs. He will run the nod route in the Red Zone; where he has shown tremendous catching radius. When he catches shallow crossers in stride, he can eat up yardage due to long strides. Makes subtle one-step cuts and has some a little bit of stop-and-start quickness with the ball in his hands. Flashes potential on backside blocking assignments in terms of getting extension and locking out.

    WEAKNESSES:
Age. Already 27 years old. Wasn’t a full-time player and still has to figure out the finer points of the position as a hand-in the ground blocker. Not heavily involved as a run blocker. Leggy in a lot of his movements. There’s nothing sudden in-and-out of breaks. Takes him awhile to navigate his courses as a route runner. Raises up immediately out of his three-point stance and can be banged around by LBs.

    COMPARES TO:
Larry Donnell, Giants – Like the big TE coming out of Grambling State, Sifrin is very raw and unrefined and needs a lot of work blocking. However both TEs have shown a penchant for being athletic beasts, high pointing the ball and snagging it and being nearly unstoppable in the Red Zone. He might not be much more than a no. 3 TE or a situational player in year one but with some proper coaching, he can be special.

With the 207[SUP]th[/SUP] pick in the 2015 GML draft, the New York Jets select:

    Antwan Goodley, WR – Baylor

    Height:
5’10” Weight: 209 lbs. Experience: Senior

Throughout this offseason our biggest objective has been adding talent to a roster devoid of it, especially on the offensive side of the board. We combine that opportunity with a steal here in selecting Antwan Goodley, someone we believe could be selected three or four rounds earlier in the NFL Draft. Having already selected a WR, two Backs, and a TE, Goodley will not need to step in right away but can be a valuable role player. Our favorite thing about the young man is his size and versatility. He’ll line up outside, inside, and even in the back field. Although he does not possess Percy Harvin speed, he will be used in similar ways.

    STRENGTHS:
Built like a brick. Accelerates into voided areas vs. zone coverage. When on the move, he does catch it away from his frame (as opposed to when he comes back down the stem to the football) and is able to immediately find his bearings on the field. Has low grab capability. Strong in the upper body and contains lower body strength as a runner. Uses a strong shimmy, arm-over to beat CBs on his inside speed releases. Drops his shoulder on DBs with the ball in his hands like he’s a fullback. Outruns the angles of inside-out defenders. Even though he’s inconsistent as a blocker, he does impress blocking down the field on breakout runs. Stood out down the stretch of his senior year. Big game player.

    WEAKNESSES:
Weight can be both a positive and negative. Lighter in the 2015 postseason. Missed two games in 2011 due to injury. Suffered a quad injury in the first game of the 2014 season (SMU) and missed the team’s next two contests. Struggled to separate and create space vs. Oklahoma’s Aaron Colvin on the perimeter in 2013. Wide splits limit his route-tree variance. Dropped three passes against Kansas State in 2013. Too often allows the football to get into his frame. Observes the action at times as a blocker. Fails to come back down the stem consistently on these types of routes.

    COMPARES TO:
Jermaine Kearse, Seahawks – Kearse has a few inches on Goodley but the latter has much better vertical speed to get deep and threaten a defense. Like Kearse, Goodley might languish in the background of a passing attack for a year or two before coming to the forefront. He will be used in situation sets to maximize his ability and give Peyton Manning another weapon at his disposable.

With the 209[SUP]th[/SUP] pick of the GML Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select:

Imoan Claiborne, defensive back out of Northwestern State

This was the last guy that truly got us excited on our draft board, so we wanted to make a play to ensure we'd get him. Claiborne (5-11, 187) intrigued us because of his ability to play any position in the secondary. He’s very instinctive (seven forced turnovers in 2014) and aggressive in press coverage. Garnered rave reviews at the Senior Bowl:

"The feisty, small-school corner played tough, smart football and shut down the talented rivals he faced on a number of occasions. He stayed with opponents out of breaks, quickly located the pass and showed a burst to the ball."
    --Tony Pauline

Another plus: He is extremely active on special teams, so our hope is that he contributes there early in his career.

Houston Texans select with the 210th pick in the 2015 Draft:

    Greg Mancz, OC/OG - Toledo

    School: Toledo | Position: OC/OG |Experience: Senior | Height: 6-4 | Weight: 301lbs

Overview: Mancz was the first offensive lineman in the33-year history of the MAC to win league MVP honors in 2014, and that awardcame despite missing the final three regular-season games due to a knee injury.A three-time All-MAC selection, Mancz wasalso named a permanent team captain while also picking up second-teamAll-America accolades.
"Greg is our captain, a young man who has been an impressive young man in ourprogram," said Toledo coach Matt Campbell. "He's a first-class youngman, a 3.7 student in the classroom who is working on his Master’sdegree."
In January,Mancz underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum suffered during Shrine Gamepractices. "Mancz will be limited during OTAs, but is expected back tofull health by the time camp opens up. Mancz draws a wide variety of opinions fromthe scouting community. While CBS Sports sees him as merely Round 7 fodder,ESPN's Mel Kiper believes he'll be a long-time starter available on Day 3, and TonyPauline previously tabbed Mancz a potential top 110 pick.

    Strengths:
Technician, proper hand placement in pass protectionand as a run blocker, uses his understanding of positioning, angles andleverage to open running lanes. Allows defenders to run themselves into thewrong gap, rarely out of position and has plus balance at impact. Displays verylittle wasted motion, breaks down in space and finds target when pulling orclimbing to second level. Plays with great confidence and composure, can sinkhips and drop anchor against bull-rush, well-schooled with excellent footballintelligence. Team leader, has played tackle, guard and center and isproficient snapping from shotgun.

Weaknesses: Doesn't play with desired power, needs more bulk and strength in lower body. Usually gets movement on nosetackle with help from a double team. Questionable hand strength to latch on andcontain defender won't stay glued to second-level block as consistently asexpected, didn't face size and power in the MAC that he will see in NFL.

    NFL Comparison: J.C. Tretter

Bottom Line: He needs a year in the weightroom, but Mancz is ahead of the game in terms of his understanding ofoffensive-line play. After playing all three positions, Mancz offers the typeof versatility that teams covet, but his average play strength could be adraft-day counter to his versatility. Based on Mancz's tape and history, onewould have to expect that he will find a way to succeed in the league.

RPG’s Notes: We like the flexibility Mancz offers with his experience up and down the offensiveline, he shows excellent football intelligence to handle calling blockingassignments, very cerebral young man that we feel will develop into a starting center. He will learn under veteran Chris Myers this coming season and look to competefor the starting role in 2016.

Wow, 3 players taken off our list in the last 8 picks... good stuff guys. Anyway, with pick 211... the Packers select:

    CB from Auburn, Nick Marshall

Watched him at the Senior Bowl in some one on one stuff against wide receivers and he looked fairly decent. He's got the size you like in a press corner. I think he could also play safety at some point. But you watch him shadow receivers and he's got the skills to do it. Natural feet, good hip rotation in and out of his breaks. He can drop and cut pretty well. Natural ability there. He's a former corner so he has played it before. He's not really converting from quarterback to a brand new position. But it's going to take time at the pro level, no doubt. And with the corners we have already on the team, he's probably not going to see the field anytime soon, unless it's special teams. But he's going to learn from Charles Tillman, who we signed from the Bears. Charles has very similar features physically... 6 2 about 200 pounds. IMO a great guy to learn behind.

    Overview

It was about 2:00 a.m. when my phone rang last night. “VO” said the voice on the other end of the line “It’s me, Chip.” Once again, my coach was calling me in the middle of the night. “Coach,” I said, “You’re wreaking havoc on my marriage. And you’re cutting into my drinking and pillaging time.” After partially sobering up, he and I had a lengthy conversation, some about boundaries (and respecting them), but mostly it was about a player.

Which player, you ask? The answer to that is Cody Fajardo. Chip and I spent the evening (morning?) talking about the backup QB situation, as we felt it was unsettled at best. While we had Matt Barkley as our clear #2, and while we recently signed Josh Freeman to a one-year minimum deal, we wanted to have some sort of contingency in place. After all, Freeman could theoretically resuscitate his NFL career, provided he can “stay off the nose candy” as Chip put it, buckle down, and do the work that is needed to be a solid NFL QB. The problem is, I’m not sure that Freeman has that ability or drive, something that goes back to personal experience with him at college – where my wife worked with him on a group project, and by worked with him, I mean did it for him. And before you ask, no I’m not bitter.

But this isn’t about Josh Freeman. It’s about Cody Fajardo. Look, I’m not going to tell you that he’s the second coming of Christ (or, if you’re Viking, Odin), because he’s not. But we aren’t going to ask him to be. We don’t need him to step in and be a starting quarterback right away. That’s why we took Mariota at #1 overall. What we do expect him to do is run the scout team for us in practice, and learn the Kelly system with Mariota this season. That’s probably his biggest asset in the NFL, aside from his athletic ability – the guy just wants to learn how to be a better player. Should something happen to Mariota, then we’ve got a guy on the roster who should eventually be able to step in and hopefully not screw up too bad. In a perfect world I’d be able to flip either Fajardo or Freeman at the end of training camp – but we can’t really do that here so I’ll be picking between them when it comes times to final rosters. Here’s Chip with more, mostly because he’s bored, I guess.

    Strengths / Weaknesses

    Courtesy of NFL.com.

STRENGTHS: Dangerous with his legs. Effective zone-scheme runner and scrambler. Good pre-snap recognition of blitz and finds hot read. Shows some pocket awareness and will slide to create space. Uses his eyes to move safety. Will take shots over the top against press-man, single-high safety coverage. Accurate, confident thrower on the move. Adequate accuracy to boundary and utilizes back-shoulder throws when necessary. Looked to slide to finish runs rather than allow contact in 2014 after playing hurt in 2013. Two-time team captain. One of only two players in FBS history (Colin Kaepernick) to throw for 9,000 yards and rush for 3,000 yards during career. Wants to be better as a passer. Attended Manning Passing Academy three years in a row.

WEAKNESSES: Below-average build for running quarterback. Was banged up for most of 2013. Shuffles to edge of pocket to find clear passing lane to perimeter. Takes extra step into throws at times and is late delivering to receivers. Crowds targets against sideline or leads them into big hits. Spotty footwork in pocket. Inconsistent resetting feet and often off-balance when making quick throws. Confidence shaken by consistent pressure over last two seasons. Rushed reads and defaulted to short, quick throws. Missed receivers running wide open downfield. Anticipation lacking to compensate for below-average arm strength. Noticeable accuracy issues throwing to middle third. Very average reading defender on zone read.

    NFL COMPARISON: Ryan Fitzpatrick

BOTTOM LINE: Productive run-pass quarterback who was forced to carry a substantial percentage of the offensive success on his shoulders. His confidence and accuracy dipped in 2014 and he lacks the poise and arm to become a starter in the league. He's a willing learner and has a chance to be a third quarterback with "package" potential thanks to his toughness as a runner.

With Pick COC.... :shifty: of the 7th round of the 2015 GML Draft, The Green Bay Packers select:

From Washington State, Quarterback, Connor Halliday!!

He's coming off the injury that ended his college career, broke two bones in his leg. Had it not been for the injury, he likely would have set most if not all single season college passing records last year. Some will say he's a system quarterback that has benefit from Mike Leach's passing game up there. I actually see something more than that, so we're going to draft him here late to be our third quarterback behind Aaron Rodgers and Matt Flynn. To develop, and maybe in a few years, who knows? I think he's supremely accurate on deep throws and intermediate stuff. He's not afraid to zip a pass into coverage, so he plays with a good deal of confidence as well. He'll need to get stronger, surely. But this kid has IT. He can be successful in the pro game some day and I'm curious to see if the Redskins in the NFL draft him as they have looked at him in great detail.

With the 7COF pick in the 2015 GML Draft, the New York Jets select:

Jerry Lovelocke, QB – Prairie View A&M

    Height:
6’4” Weight: 248 lbs. Experience: Senior

Our final need is a developmental QB to have behind Peyton for the eventual future. Jerry Lovelocke is that Quarterback. He has outstanding size and strength and the type of leadership abilities that we desire. We recognize that he might not even be drafted but he is one of my favorite QB prospects regardless. He is as raw as can be and the fact that there is no tape on him available online makes him difficult to scout for myself but his potential is exciting. We look forward to the young man coming in, ready to learn behind one of the greatest QBs ever.

    STRENGTHS:
Big quarterback with strong hands and above-average arm strength. Gets good depth in his drops and sets up quickly. Won't rattle easily in pocket and keeps eyes upfield, searching for a play to make. Able to shake off would-*be sacks with pure lower-body strength. Short-yardage and goal-line finisher as rusher. Shows leg drive and falls forward behind his burly frame. Scored 19 rushing touchdowns. Has every tool a team could want. Team leader with positive personality.

    WEAKNESSES:
Has tendency to launch himself upward when transferring weight forward rather than sitting down and driving ball with his lower body. Needs coaching and game experience to learn to get through his progressions rather than locking in prematurely. Gives away intentions with his eyes, bringing safeties to the party. Babies too many throws rather than sitting down and ripping them. Has issues with easy throws sailing on him. Lacks elusiveness outside of pocket.

    COMPARES TO:
Brock Osweiler, Broncos – Like Peyton’s former understudy, Lovelocke has the size that scouts drool over. While Lovelocke does not have an arm as strong as Osweiler, he does possess better decision making and timing. Both are huge Passers that possess surprisingly nimble feet to be enough of a threat outside the pocket. We love the potential of Jerry Lovelocke, even if he is a multi-year project.
