The one's who voted for Saban as most overrated are the ones not getting dufflebags of cash, or aren't landing jobs for their girlfriends in Alabama's athletic department, like Landon Collins.
The Howard flip was disappointing but it was not a position of dire need However the Gators get a flip in their favor Dante Fowler flips from FSU to Florida http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=espn:7526927 http://www.onlygators.com/02/01/2012/de-dante-fowler-makes-the-big-switch-to-florida/
Had not heard about Fowler! Kind of assumed when I saw an article the other day how he said it was cool to wear a UF jersey and his 'brothers' were totally excited about it. Just kind of felt right.
Fowler is a goof. He handled this recruiting process worse then maybe I've ever seen. I'm glad he flipped at this point
Come on Nappy, that just sounds like sour grapes. I understand the disappointment, but can you elaborate on why he handled it "worst than you have ever seen"??
Fowler wanted to go to Florida the whole time. His family wanted him to go to FSU. Fowler made 7 unofficial visits to Florida. That's an incredible number.
Looks like UF might have a chance with Josh Harvey-Clemons still. Not a good thing for UF though if he does though since his heart isn't in it. What a douche his grandfather is.
He already has his paperwork. His grandfather won't sign it because he doesn't want him to go to UGA.
Yeah that is not cool. If he doesn't want to go there, don't make him. Great player, would love to have him, but only if he wants to be there.
We'll see. Could mean trouble for Florida though. After all, Muschamp did show up at this guys church and leave a healthy donation in the collection plate SMH.
Seriously though, it amazes me that doing that is somehow legal. The Cam Newton rule. Or that somehow Saban giving an internship to the girlfriend of a recruit is legal. The NCAA never ceases to amaze me.
Sour grapes that I'm glad he flipped? Not at all. Would love to have his talent, but I'm just not a fan of the kids head, from this and interviews. We have two better End commits anyways. But, its one thing to flip, its much worse to flip signing day, then to go through out the entire process and swear up and down many times your commit to the school is solid. Even going as far as telling the Noles to NOT sign any more DEs because your 100% going there. So we left a pretty good DE Leonard Williams out there. He wanted to be a Nole and we passed because Fowler swore up and down he was a Nole.
If this part is true then it's probably just a sign of him growing up and learning to cut the strings.
Seriously, who knows. Honestly, unless you were there, the story could be blown out of proportion too. As a fan, it does sound a bit suspicious. IF it is legal, something tells me parents of other top recruits are going to start becoming more involved in churches. LOL. However, it also could be just as made up to try to do some negative recruiting or just try to put some negative press out there to soil his name. I am not trying to say he did not do it. I was not there, he very well may have. Just saying all we read is just speculation. Unless it is the University or NCAA coming out and saying something, it is just hearsay. Fun to talk about, but who knows if true.
I honestly don't think he was ever going to flip until his parents told him he didn't have to FSU and that they would support any choice he made. After that he still didn't know where he wanted to go. I don't think FSU would have got Leonard Williams anyway.
He is in love with USC and thats where his coach told him would be best for him because of playing time. He sure wasnt going to get that at FSU. They have a lot of great players on the Dline
Florida is absolutely on fire for the 2013 class!!! Just going to give a quick rundown. Position - Name - Star Prediction (just imo) - Comment RB - Adam Lane - 4* - 1st commit of the 2013 class and is going to be one of the more highly touted RB's in the country. He broke his Fibula as a Jr. He is a lot in the form of Maurice Jones Drew because he is small yet very powerful. Height 5'7 Weight 205. There will almost certainly be another RB recruit in this class and could even be 2. Kelvin Taylor who is Fred Taylor's son is out there this year. DT - Caleb Brantley - 5* - 2nd Commit is a very athletic Defensive Lineman with quick feet and good motor. Height 6'3 Weight 285. Muschamp has always talked about winning both sides of the line scrimmage and this certainly is a good way to go. LB - Daniel McMillian - 4* - The 3rd Commit has strength, size, and speed. Height 6'3 Weight 220. He could probably play any LB position at Florida but he will probably end up playing Outside LB. LB - James Hearns - 4* - The 4th commit is another LB who could probably play any LB position needed. He currently plays inside and his team runs a 3-4. Height 6'3 Weight 230
Any word on Diggs? I know he wanted to wait bc he wanted to do another school visit this past weekend. Just curious if we can land him...
It's pretty much Florida vs Ohio State for his services with Maryland on the outside looking in. Meyer giving him the your going to be the next Percy Harvin speech. We all know how that turned out with Thompson and Debose. I do think Florida has the upper hand tho.
We only have to wait to Friday at the latest to find out. His high school coach won't be there so he wanted him to pick thursday. Still Friday I think. The more and more I think about it I think it is going to be Maryland.
Make new friends, DAMMIT! LOL. No I get it, but I hope that changes. IF he does leave, then there is another recruit WM lost. He has been a Gator commit for a while now and starting to doubt WM's "closing" ability which rumor had it was real strong.
Florida lost a lot of guys on signing day. Better you than us. I'm used to the Canes getting spurned. Everytime I hear the words "Miami is my dream school" I cringe because I know it's going to end in disaster. Diggs was one of those guys too.
Yes we did. Granted, it was still a great class. However, if we end up losing both WR targets we had... Then I am going to be a little disappointed in the class, even though it is still really good.
Good Counsel star WR-DB Stefon Diggs expected to commit to Maryland http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...and-on-friday/2012/02/09/gIQAgpSR2Q_blog.html If true this really sucks. Florida really struggled on offense last year and other than OL it doesn't look like it will get much better unless one of the young QB's step up there game soon.
or unless JUJU story or whatever his name was (the wr we redshirted last year) shows up this year. Sad, but with the track record... almost expected.
Still having a hard time understanding why Maryland. The team won TWO games last year. TWO, in the relatively weak ACC. Plus, now there are rumors their QB is transferring. Yes, I get his best friend is there, and yes I get it is close to home. However, if you are that good of an athlete, don't you want to win and showcase your talents for the next level? http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/quarterback-danny-obrien-seriously-considering-departure-from-maryland/2012/02/08/gIQAcRzhzQ_story_1.html
Steon Diggs woke up last night to make this Tweet... Just had a dream I was in the swamp time to go back to sleep
Kelvin Taylor (Fred Taylor's son) will commit next weekend. Here is a hint to where he will be going. He is committing next weekend and he will be in Gainesville for there Jr day.
