Here's to ND getting rolled by bama
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2
Yeah. I have no doubt that they will lose by at least 21. Notre Dame IMO has little to no chance.
Their offense is going to get shut down to the point of ineptitude. I expect their defense will put up a fight but the offense will put them in bad positions and Alabama will chip away until they break.
Yeah I agree Alex. Notre Dame has not faced a front 7 like Alabama. Notre Dame has a solid defense. Very solid. However Alabama is a different kind of machine. IMO Alabama will overwhelm them.
I'd argue that ND and Alabama are mirror images of each other, with the slight upper hand going to Alabama on D.
Notre Dame has no QB worth starting and their entire run game is based upon bullying in the trenches which there is absolutely no way they do against Alabama.
Alabama has enough play makers on offense to score on ND. Their secondary is extremely weak and vulnerable. Even when Miami played them we should have exploited them for two easy early TD's over the top but we crapped the bed and dropped passes.
Bottom line is if you can play just an even game with their front seven their defense is extremely weak on the backend. I wouldn't even put ND in the top five teams very honestly. Maybe not top ten.
The stats don't play out what you are saying.
Guess ND got lucky your vote doesn't matter.
ND beat more bowl eligible teams than Bama and Georgia by a large margin. They earned this, sorry they couldnt comvince you lol. and sorry Golson doesn't put up flashy stats for you. He's a redshirt freshman who has gotten better every weak, and stepped up big when they've needed it (ask OU).
I've had questions about the secondary all year. Several injuries to starters early made me think they'd get exposed...still waiting for that to happen.
I think Uf deserves a shot at the title, but they should be upset GA didn't stumble. Georgia played a much easier schedule than UG, but that's not NDs fault. The rest of the top 5/10 has no one to blame but themselves.
ND handled their business. I don't fault them one bit. Mods, could we perhaps break this discussion off into its own thread instead of jamming up the UF thread? TIA
ND isn't a bad team like in years past where they were overrated.
I think they can compete with Bama or Georgia this year. Neither of those teams are special.
My best teams in country...seriously.
5. Ohio State
And Don, I dislike 2 of the above teams much more than ND, this is just my personal feeling.
I have to no problem with that. All those teams had a chance to be ranked higher than ND, and they slipped up. ND needed a couple breaks to be ranked 1, and they got the help they needed. In the current system they earned their rank, and they didn't play a cupcake schedule of d2 teams to get there. Human polls didn't want to rank ND this high, until KSU and Oregon forced them to.
I have a problem when ND is dismissed at this point entirely. I have no idea what will happen when they play the SEC, but I know people have discounted them all year (me included). So, hopefully they can silence the critics one more time (though even that won't shut haters up, they'll find something)
Sorry for hi-jacking the UF thread, my initial point was just that UF should be mad at Georgia's schedule not at ND lol
I'm fine with them being in the NC game. They are undefeated. The point is I'm 100% sure they are going to get beat by at least two TD's regardless of who they play because they flat out aren't very good compared to other top echelon teams. Not that they suck, but they don't even have a punchers chance IMO
This does need its own thread though. As was said earlier playoff system cant come fast enough.
We'll find out in 45 days or so
ND had a great year and deserve to be in the big game.In some ways their success is similar to the Gators success .Great defenses ,young QBs, ugly wins. The big difference is the level of competition .While NDs schedule was respectable and not as easy as the Buckeye schedule for example ,it certainly did not match the difficulty of the Gator schedule .
Considering that I am a biased SEC supporter I really believe there are several SEC teams that would beat ND
Thankfully we wont be having this discussion in the future as the playoff system is implemented.
ND definitely deserve to be there. They played a good schedule and are undefeated.
I agree with Don, uga should not be there. They played two good teams all year. Yes they beat UF, but IMO UF lost, uga did not win. We'll see how they do this weekend...
I can't wait for playoffs.
This could probably be it's own thread, but putting in here since UF fans will relate most closely...
SERIOUSLY? Wow, lost even more respect for the guy. While I kind of see his point, he sure did not complain last season when his team was not in the SEC title game and yet got to play for the National Championship. Ok, Nick if you don't like the rule why don't you just return that trophy from last season? What a scum bag.
Am I late to the party? Why would Florida goto the national title game over an undefeated ND, or the SEC champion. One of wich already beat them?
Saban means the Sugar Bowl. It's likely winner of SEC title plays ND, and UF gets the Sugar. He thinks loser of his game should still get the Sugar Bowl....because he's a douche
Notre Dame is undefeated and Congrats. I think it was some Luck (Stanford not getting that TD and Barkley not playing) and Skill. They had a great year. They beat some good teams. Some real good teams. I just hate that they don't play good teams week in and week out in a conference schedule. Its so difficult to play top teams back to back or week to week in conference. Notre Dame played some teams that everyone thought were going to be much better (Miami, Michigan State, Michigan, USC) but they weren't. That's not their fault tho. I am just so fustrated with how Florida won't be in the game. Really tho good luck to Notre Dame.
I honestly feel like the two worst match ups for Florida and Notre Dame would be Bama tho. Bama does everything that those two teams do but they do it better plus some. Notre Dame is going to lose by at least 14 and i feel like more than 21. Its a terrible match up for them.
One really cool story that I thought you guys might wanna know about. Caleb Brantley a DT recruit who has been committed for almost a year was thought to be be wavering on his commitment. He was being recruited very hard by FSU and one of his really good friends was already at FSU. He had decided to take a visit to FSU got the FSU-Florida game. Well Caleb Brantley showed up to the game dressed head to toe in Gator gear. He was also cheering for the Gators every time they made a big play. The OL coach from FSU called his high school coach called to let him know that his offer was being rescinded. Nice work Caleb
I think you being mad at NDs schedule is you overrating the SEC. Look at who Georgia played, hell look at who Bama played and comeback and say they played a tough conference schedule. To say they played a tough schedule "week in and week out" is beyond laughable. Bama had a 3 week stretch where they played good teams, and UG played 2 good teams over the entire year. They almost played as many D2 teams as ranked teams!...and they got smoked by one of the ranked teams! ND played more bowl eligible teams than either.
People are confusing what they historically see with what actually happened. SEC out of conference schedule consists of D2 teams looking for a payout. UF not withstanding the idea of tough SEC schedule is complete crap this year. Be mad at UG for who they played, and then escaping vs UF to stumble into this spot. ND's schedule was tougher by any standard
One of many articles out there dispelling the SoS argument.
Don you can tell yourself anything you want to make yourself feel better. Notre Dame may have played more bowl eligible teams and that's cool. Lets not make it out to seem like Notre Dame played a tough schedule. You played a bunch of teams who got like 6 wins in the year or just over 6 wins. Notre Dame played two good teams the entire year. Those two teams were Stanford and Oklahoma. Oklahoma was a great win @ Oklahoma good job. Stanford I can't even really give a lot of credit as I don't even think Notre Dame won that game. Clearly on the replay the RB scored a TD IMO yet the game ended. Also Stanford was really struggling until they made a switch at QB and went with Hogan. However Notre Dame did win. Notre Dame didn't play another good team all year. The best team other then that was playing a USC team without its star QB and going with a freshmen. USC is still not a good team even with Barkley. Lets look at the one common Opponent which was Michigan. Alabama smacked that team around like a ****ing rag doll. Notre Dame could barely beat that team.
Going on to the SEC and yes you could say I have some bias. I am a strong supporter of the SEC. However the SEC this year has a lot of great teams. Too many great teams. The way the divisions are set up now and the extra game it's tough. Georgia and Alabama got some easy teams in regards to playing teams in the other division. However Alabama was absolutely dominant in all but 2 games. They didn't just win they destroyed teams. LSU and there defense was able to keep it close. Texas A&M and that offense were able to beat Alabama with that being there only loss. Georgia is a very Jekyll and Hyde. After they beat Florida tho they really started to put it together and be a dominant team. Jarvis Jones >>> any other LB in college.
Lol Alabama plays 2 teams with a pulse and splits close games and they are absolutely dominant. Notre Dame does it and they played a weak schedule. I can't wait for a playoff, then this crap will stop finally.
Each team played 4 ranked teams.
Alabama played 6 bowl eligible teams.
Notre Dame played 8 bowl eligible teams
If you drop the names and just look at the raw numbers, which is the better team?
If you drop the names and just watch the games Alabama is better and it's not even close. If Alabama wins the SEC title they will have played 7 Bowl eligible teams and 3 teams in the Top 10. Watch each team play Michigan.
That isn't the point. We'll find out if that's true in due time perhaps.
The point is you saying you hate NDs schedule despite the facts proving that SEC teams didn't play tougher schedules, especially Georgia! And the idea that either team played good teams week in and week out is laughable. you couldnt have possibly meant that when you typed it; at least not this year.
Use the eye test to dismiss ND if you must lol. The schedule argument is just bugging me
Depends on what your idea of tougher schedule is. I think that an SEC schedule is tougher. I also count the Championship game in that.
Florida got a Commitment from Marcell Harris today! He is one of the best safeties in the Country.
I saw that. Great news. Esp since Elam is probably gone.
Florida now has 3 of the Top Safeties in the country ready to come in next year. However we will miss Elam who may be gone.
The fact that Muschamp is basically the DB position coach helps to attract those top DB recruits .
Since much of the coaching staff has NFL experience and the offense is basically a pro set also helps the recruiting in general.
On the downside the heavy run oriented offense is not helping the recruiting of the top WRs and thats a concern. However I expect we will overcome that by using the TEs more and we are getting some quality recruits in that position thankfully.
So it looks like the Gators will either play one of these four teams. Louisville, Boise State, Oklahoma, or Northern Illinois.
Louisville and Oklahoma are the two most likely.
I hope its Oklahoma .The other opponents are underwhelming and the Gators have proven that their level of play diminishes when they play inferior opponents making for boring games.
It's all set. No. 4 Florida will meet No. 22 Louisville in the Sugar Bowl.
Just so your aware I don't think the Gators play down to the competition. I think the Gators just use a very basic offense and basic plays so they don't show anything. Its happened a lot this year. I have heard Brent Pease and Muschamp say the same.
It will be nice to see Charile Strong again.
Gators by 20+
Florida is going to annihilate Louisville.
I don't know about that. Bridgewater is the type of player who could give the Gators problems. They have a good offense, but yeah our defense isn't too bad.
Joker Phillips hired as Florida wide receivers coach, according to report
Good hire IMO.Kentucky had a good passing game if nothing else. And he will help in recruiting those much needed WR prospects.
