Not really. Thomas had no chance to catch it. It was underthrow, and too close to the sidelines. He had man coverage. Beat his man. No need for that ball to be that close to being out of bounds (if it was in bounds as you say). Thomas slows up, and has to adjust to the ball which takes him out of bounds. It was a terrible throw more than anything.
That being said, Thomas still could have had it, but I think the poor throw, really threw him off guard, and he's not good enough anymore physically to make that play.
