BTW - anyone headed out to the Bank Atlantic Center tonight? 7-0 Canes hoops ranked 30th in both polls take on Minnesota in the ACC / Big Ten Challenge. Should be a good game. Minnesota was ranked #16 before dropping their last two. Game will be on ESPNU if you have it.

If we're able to beat Minnesota and win our first ACC game @BC this week, then we'll surely crack the top 25 on Monday. Huge progress for a team that lost its best player and was given no chance in the preseason projections. We're one of only two unbeaten teams left in the ACC.

Aside from Dwayne Collins and James Dews who we're all familiar with, we've got some nice young talent to floor -- Malcolm Grant and Durand Scott have been awesome.

There's a rumor going on right now that says Mark Whipple is a candidate for UVA's job and its said that he would go there in a "heartbeat" if offered.

That would be a tough blow for the Hurricanes.

UVA would be stupid not to get Al Golden.

And I sincerely doubt Whipple would go to UVA "in a heartbeat" with his kids being in SoFla and a program on the rise that can springboard him to something better in the next several years. Not saying he wouldn't consider it though.

He's only been at Miami one year, hopefully he'll look at what he's done as a work in progress to see how well our team can be next year.

Alen - not sure where you got that. I'm seeing that while he may be in the top 4 - and top 3 will get interviews - there are no indications he would leave in a heartbeat.

ACC is all but confirmed aside from Miami:

Gator = Florida State
Chick-Fil-A = Virginia Tech
**Champs Sports = ACC vs. Wisconsin
Music City = Clemson
Car Care = North Carolina
Emerald = Boston College

Miami is the only remaining ACC bowl team and only Champs Sports isn't confirmed. Nice! This is exactly what I wanted after the FSU / Gator Bowl crap panned out, but thought we'd be screwed out of it in favor of Clemson. I'm traveling up to Orlando for this... ROAD TRIP!!!!! I have two cousins and a ton of friends at UCF so definitely a place to stay.

This is a random question, but how much do Canes games usually run as far as tickets. I wanna go to one next season.

BTW - We jumped from #17 to #14 in the latest AP poll.

So we're a lock for the top 10 in the final poll if we can beat Wisconsin!

Where do you want to sit? 400 level you can find some really cheap tickets.

I usually sit with my friends around the student section although I absolutely love the upper level at our stadium; I'll never move my Dolphins seats.

I'd definitely recommend Virginia Tech and Florida State next year! USF game should have a crazy atmosphere, too.

I'll probably skip on FAMU and Maryland... well, actually since FAMU is the opener maybe. I may as well get season tickets.

Definitely... the student atmosphere is crazy. You'll enjoy it. I usually hang with a couple of my friends who to Miami at the games. I don't know that many people at the U, though. Most of my friends are with me at FAU... or FAMU, UCF, FIU, etc.

I know what you mean, though. The majority of my friends are Florida State or Florida fans. I don't get it.

Whoopee, the Champs Sports Bowl. I was hoping for the Olive Garden Bowl, or the Best Buy Bowl, but it didn't work out. If it's not the Rose, Sugar, Fiesta or Orange, in no particular order, then it's kinda pointless. The rest are just $ for the school and an extra game so nobody feels left out. And the fans with $ can go to a 'Bowl' game. I guess we gotta make the best of it. Good luck Canes.:theu:

At least it's in-state against a ranked opponent. I'm relatively happy with it.

Should be good watching this young defensive front against that overpowering offensive line. They are very good. I think this is the game where Forston should show his real talent and why he was rated so highly coming out. I'll be looking forward to see our young ends against the Wisconsin bookends, especially Gabe Carimi who is very good.

I don't feel that way, regarding the "pointless" statement. I can't remember the last time I actually got the opportunity to travel to a Canes bowl game, and better yet, the game is against a ranked opponent. We're a young team. From 5-7 to 7-6 to a possible 10 win season in the Shannon era. Steady improvement. A lot to be excited for about this bowl game.

Good lesson to be learned for this team. I feel like we gave away the Clemson game and Jacory pretty much threw away the North Carolina game, which is understandable for his level of experience. This team has to be feeling like a BCS team that simply threw it away. It's OK. They're young. We'll be in the Orange Bowl next year at the very least. The ACC is ours. We are the best team in the ACC right now and we're better positioned for the future than anyone else. Ask Georgia Tech. I don't care what anyone says. We'll prove it next year.

Winning a bowl game... any bowl game, especially against a ranked opponent... will play a huge rule in the momentum these youngsters carry into next season.

My hopes were a little too high this season, it just takes awhile for the disappointment to go away. I guess any bowl game is better than none at all. I hope you guys that are down in FL can make it too the game. Make that stadium ALL orange and green. :theu:
