I'm almost hoarse right now from talking to haters on my cell phone. And I'm glad for it. I've got people running their mouth calling me back from 20 years ago. But **** 'em.! We are the University of Miami! We got the job done! I'm so proud of this team I can't even talk. Words can't even express it. To beat GA Tech after 4 years like that was precious. The team was on fire, they had the drive, the motivation, and the know-how to get it taken care of. Man, it's great to be a Miami Hurricane. That is all. Good night, and all the best to my fellow Canes fans. We're back.
So how does everyone feel about Va Tech? I'm not worried about the crowd. I'm not convinced it is going to be worse than 80k Seminole fans in a rivalry game, with the lead. I honestly believe we are a better team than they are, but I hope they don't prove me wrong.
I never feel good about playing in Blacksburg. Back in 2000, we went in there with the greatest collection of talent college football has ever seen and it took a drop by Ernest Wilford in the endzone for us to come out with a victory.
Ol flubberneck always get his boys to play us tough.. no givens in this game except that it will be hard fought.
Not to take them too lightly, but we should win the VT game. GT is better than VT IMO... Our weakness right now is the secondary, and VT isn't going to threaten that. Only way I can see VT winning is via special teams. Our kicking game was god awful last night, needs to be addressed.
Jakhari Gore was present at last night's game. He's expected to be part of next years recruiting class. Also, this from a Canes board:
Pick J-12's nickname: Orange Jesus Hurricane Moses Jacory UUUUUUUnitas Ghetto Tebow Tan Marino Jay Heezy One tweezy
Thats from the play where he hit the fullback down the sideline right? He was shrugging like "He was the only one open" with a big smile. Anyone else just like listening to Jacory talk? One of the first things he does at his press conference? Name all his offensive lineman and say he couldnt have done it without them. The kid just knows what is going on.
After FSU everyone was calling him "Ice" and "Iceman" for how cool he was under pressure. We gonna change his name every week?
Man I'm watching a video of Jacory last season, wondering why he wasn't the full time starter then. It was pretty obvious to most of us that he was the superior QB. Though he is worlds ahead of where he was last year. Like I said before, playing at VA Tech doesn't scare me. It can't be all that much worse than playing at FSU in this rivalry. Even if it is a bit worse, it can't be so much worse that it intimidates us. Our players really believe we can win every game. We have enough weapons to score against them, and I don't think their offense is really that good. For your viewing pleasure. From another board, not my work. http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/4356/futch2.gif
I'll boil VT down for you all.... Pretty good defense...Great Special teams...and one of the worst Quarterbacks in the history of College Football. If we score 3 touchdowns...we win the game.
Don't know that their QB is worse than the years of Brock Berlin and company, but I agree pretty much with that. In my opinion the only way they can win is if we are careless with the ball.
Tan Marino. VT in Blacksburg is ALWAYS going to be tough...I only hope The plays them like they did GT. If they do, they'll win.
FUTCH IT!!! Alex, something is awry with the way the QBs are being handled; when you lose 4 QBs to transfers in 3 years (2 in one day this year), you have to believe something is wrong. Marve...well, I think he was a spoiled little *****, to be honest. He couldn't take the pressure of having a guy as talented as Harris behind/alongside him. But the rest? Every team loses players, QBs in particular. But 4 in 3 years is a trend, not an instance.
Make no Mistake..Frank Costa was pretty bad..but you can;t ignore his winning record and his big win against Florida State. Robert Marve did.....what exactly?
There's a solid argument to be made there. Brock...well, he was bad, but he had some brilliant games, the blowout in The Swamp comes to mind. Marve never even got close. He was just BAD.
I'll Rank'em off the top of my head: 1. Kosar 2. Dorsey 3. Kelly 4. Walsh 5. Testeverde 6. Toretta 7. HARRIS 8. Erickson 9. Clement 10. Wright 11. Costa 12. Collins 13. Kelly 14. Covington 15. Berlin 16. Freeman 17. Marve Did I miss anybody?
he is in there. I was doing the list and moving him above Toretta... you caught a half done post. LOL
Fran Curci was my first one, George Mira was a favorite... Mira played for the Dolphins too, and his son for the too.
yep. when I was 8 years old..I jumped right on that baby. first memory of UM football for me was of Jim Kelly and I remember that it was a big deal when he beat Penn State. don;t remember much else. I remember Kosars tenure vividly... favorite Canes of alltime for me: Maurice Crum Alonzo Highsmith Melvin Bratton Charles Pharms Bubba McDowell Jerome Brown
Ugh, Kyle Wright. I had actually blocked him out...Mr. High Throw. I would struggle with the top of your list; Kosar or Dorsey at #1? Kosar took the torch from Kelly, the guy who began the modern era for us, and won our first championship. But Dorsey, man...I don't know that I've ever seen a technician quite like him. Regardless, I'd have Testaverde at 3, though. He was just amazing.
Testeverde hurts himself on my list due to him single handedly losing to Penn State with the best College Team of all-time.
Wow...Bubba McDowell, now there is a name. I liked: Danny Stubbs Greg Hawkins George Mira Jr Melvin Bratton Randall "thrill" Hill Greg Rackozy I can still recall Thrill running all the way up the tunnel in the game beat Texas A&M for the national title As for Jacory.."juice".
I'd personally have a hard time putting Dorsey over Kelly and maybe even a few other names just because of the immense talent that those Miami teams had. I just never came away that impressed by Ken. I know he wouldn't lose the game for you, but I never felt like he could win it alone for you either. But maybe my memories of him have faded a bit over the past couple years.
