This morning the Herald has the game "off the books" as do they have the Dolphins. Could it be injuries causing this ?

If we can win this one and get a decent bowl game you have to consider this season a success. We can only get better with another good recruiting class and offseason of training for our young guys.

I think its because NC State beat NC and we lost to NC.

Van Dyke and Harris are starting on Saturday. :woot:

They really want us to see us make some plays on the ball and tackle guys and get them on the ground. I think we play faster when you know what an offense is doing before you lineup. I think early in the season we were just trying to play off athletic ability."

Both Harris and Van Dyke said they've spent a lot of time in the film room, learning how to play in Young's zone-based coverage defense. Van Dyke said adjusting from man to zone is what caused him to struggle this season. "I think this right here is my stepping stone for next year," Van Dyke said. "I really want to get back to doing what I was supposed to do."

Ugh watching Marve makes me think the days of Berlin and Freeman were amazing. He's so terrible. What happened to the guy we saw the first few games?

Aldarius Johnson is out because of a team violation. He didn't make the trip.

pathetic...Miami should never ever lose to NC State...completely unacceptable. When Larry Coker was here, the team never looked lost. This team is lost...pathetic.

I don't think its that bad, Lab. Young team and sitting at a 7-5 record is good IMO. They'll be better next year with a extra year of experience. I still think we have to get rid of Nix.

What's most disappointing I think is the way Bill Young's defense collapsed the last two games. He was brought in here to win games like these with defense, and he choked in both games, and I don't have much hope for the bowl game.

We can only hope they are hungry next year. However next year's schedule is a killer -- VaTech, UNC and FSU all on the road, and Oklahoma at Dolphin Stadium. We could lose at least 4 if not 5 again next year.

Honestly, we came close to beating UNC and FSU while we did beat VaTech so I don't see it as a big deal. Oklahoma may be rescheduled because of the Marlins. Bill Young has to stop running that damn zone defense, it doesn't work. When is he going to get it in his head. In my opinion, these losses came from either bad coaching or too young of players. Our upperclassmen are suppose to be the ones who are better but they are outplayed by the young guys. We can't expect to win nine or ten games with the freshmen doing all the work. We lost Colin McCarthy earlier this season and he was one of our leaders. Sean Spence is a great freshmen but he doesn't have the size for full time yet. We had Romeo Davis playing along Glenn Cook. Davis can't stay healthy and hit the right gaps while Cook is the definition of inconsistency. In the secondary, we had Bruce Johnson make mistakes, Lavon Ponder isn't a good tackler, Anthony Reddick hasn't looked the same after the knee surgeries, and Randy Phillips, arguably our best Safety, got injured and was done for the year. He'll likely be granted a medical redshirt and be back next year. Marve won't be the starter next year IMO. Harris has great feel for the game, decent accuracy and knows what he's doing out there. Doesn't force it. He has great chemistry with the WR's and then next year, Tommy Streeter will be playing. Streeter has good hands, speed and is a possession receiver. He was Harris' teammate at NW, starting opposite of Aldarius Johnson.

Alen I commend your optimism, but even if the Oklahoma game is stricken from the schedule (PLEASE !), I still don't feel this team will have the coaching needed to make it to the next level. I am very disappointed in the fact that almost every big game under Randy Shannon, the team plays very flat. The exceptions being the two Texas A & M games, the VaTech game in 2008 and the Wake Forest game in 2008. Other than that, its been very uninspiring.

I'm not that big on Shannon either Kevin. I hate the fact that he's so loyal to Nix. He stood up for him after Nix got criticized last game. Bill Young has had the defense play well but he's done questionable things. Shannon may not be the answer but I think he sticks because of Shalala's obsession with him as well as the communities obsession with Shannon. I'm not sure how far this team can go with Shannon and the current coaching staff to be honest. I think there has to be changes though and they start at the OC spot. I'd love to see a guy like Gus Malzahn be brought in. He runs the same offense as Nix does but much more effectively. I know their near the top statistically this year in offense (7th pass & rush; 2nd points scored) with Malzahn running the show in Tulsa and last year they had the top offense, the 3rd best passing offense and the 4th best passing efficiency.

That game is as interesting as my mom's grocery shopping list lol. I don't follow UM in college basketball. You guys got any good players?

Yeah not a college basketball fan, though I do hope the Canes win.

And so what if we lost? We're a young team and **** happens. We've won some big ones and lost others, even Georgia go scorched against Georgia Tech today. We're building and we will get there.

I was really disappointed with what I saw today. It seemed that no matter the play, I could find some hurricane loafing and that seems to be a theme to me. Randy is fielding an uninspired team most of the time, lesser talent has nothing to do with lesser hustle.
