Ken's time is up. He is really fighting against father time. He should retire from active competition and move on to training and color commentary. One thing I would like to see, if it hasn't happened already, is to have a MMA Hall of Fame. Has anyone started that yet? I would love to see an opening class of Ken Shamrock, Royce Gracie, MarK Coleman, Dan Severen and maybe, Sakuraba or something like that. I think it is a natural next step for the sport and would add some prestige to everything.
There is a UFC hall of fame... Randy Couture is in it I know. I don't believe Shamrock is in it yet, but I think Royce may be in it as well.
With the amount of different MMA organizations now out there, it would be nice to have an independant MMA Hall of Fame as some of these guys have accomplished a lot outside of UFC. Thanks for the info.
No, thats HDnet Fights or something like that. Adrenaline, formerly known as M-1 Global, is a new promotion that Fedor recently fought with for like one show.
Tonight's show should be awesome, not alot of huge names but some really good matchups IMO. UFC FIGHT NIGHT 13: APRIL 2, 2008 ON SPIKE TV venue: Broomfield Event Center in Broomfield, Colorado Main Card Bouts: -Kenny Florian vs. Joe Lauzon -Karo Parisyan (#6 Welterweight in the World)* vs. Thiago Alves -Matt Hamill vs. Tim Boetsch -Kurt Pellegrino vs. Nate Diaz -Houston Alexander vs. James Irvin -Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard** Preliminary Bouts: -Din Thomas vs. Josh Neer -Marcus Aurelio vs. Ryan Roberts -Manny Gamburyan vs. Jeff Cox -Clay Guida vs. Samy Schiavo -George Sotiropoulos vs. Roman Mitichyan -Tommy Speer vs. Anthony Johnson Main card airs live on Spike TV starting at 7:00 PM (ET/PT) on Wednesday, April 2 as a lead-in to the premiere of The Ultimate Fighter 7
Good shows tonight. I couldn't believe how fast Houston Alexander got rocked. Anthony Johnson impressed the crap out of me. I mean, you knock a guy out who is KNOWN for his ability to take a punch that fast, thats something. I dont like Florain, I dont know why, I just cant bring myself to cheer him. The show was good. I kind of wished it could have been a longer show though.
I agree with pretty much everything. Houston Alexander once looked like a title contender and now he's just another guy. Johnson was VERY impressive last night, guy is lightning quick. Glad to see Gray Maynard get a good win, I like him. Never been a fan of Florian either, was really hoping to see him go down. Haven't watched TUF yet, DVR'd to watch it tonight. Looks awesome though.
Its amazing how fast other fighters can adjust to your fighting skills. I think fighters that have actually been able to train for Houston watching film, etc. Have been able to handle his aggressiveness and counter it. The superman punch right out of the gate was prob. the smartest idea I have ever seen Sandman ever do.
My Best Friend is fighting in the next one again.. Go Chainsaw http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=eventDetail.FightCard&eid=1082 Charles McCarthy Vs. Michael Bisping
Yeah I thought about you when I saw that I'll definitely be rooting for him, this would be a huge win for him.
yeah. They were supposed to fight last month in England but the whole thing got cancled. and Moved to Canada.. He is happioer witht hat cause its less of a TIme Change and Less Jet Lag.
More time for him to prepare also. Plus GSP in Canada is going to be awesome. I think he is absolutely going to destrot Serra.
Yeah that definitely helps. Its amazing how much that stuff affects people. You could tell the altitude in Denver was affecting them last night.
Fastest knockout raises controversy http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/blog/mm...-finish-ever-brings-controversy?urn=mma,74886
Didn't know they existed. Also, totally forgot to mention one of my favorite underrated fighters, Thiago "The Pitbull" Alves looked good last night too!
Finally watched the first episode of TUF. Looks awesome. Rampage and Forrest are both hilarious. Should be a good season.
I'm pretty sure he will too. Which is too bad because I think GSP is a prick, a talented one but still a prick. I hope Serra pulls off another huge upset and keeps the title in NY.
It wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that your a new yorker would it?? I dont think he's ever came across as anything but respectful. Even when he was disrespected, I thought he was a class act.
i second that... even when Matt Hughes was being a jerk toward him on TUF, GSP acted like a gentleman. and i''m a big Hughes fan who hated seeing my guy get destroyed by GSP. GSP has always seemed like a class act to me. now Serra on the other hand? i liked him as a competitor on the TUF. respected him alot for the way he handled himself in the house with all those nut jobs. i was even glad he beat GSP initially, but then it seemed like it went to his head instantly.
i hope he hands Bisping his *** Warp... Matt Hamill got robbed against Bisping, and so hopefully he takes a shot in the head and goes crashing down against your boy McCarthy.
Liddell talks smack about Kimbo Slice: http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/news?slug=mmajunkie-Liddell_irked_by_Kimbo&prov=mmajunkie&type=lgns
i know it sux losing and all... but Rogan nailed it on the replay of Houston Alexander's fight; after that last shot Alexander went limp. it was brief, but it happened, and the last thing UFC needs is for some guy to get brain damage right now.
I really think it would be a KO by Liddell, say the end of the first after Kimbo wears down from the constant counter punches he gets hit with while swinging wildly at Chuck.
Fedor vs. Timmy in July is close to happening. http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=6047&zoneid=2 Bad matchup for Fedor, but I'm still guessing Fedor by armbar off his back in round 2, as usual for him.
that'll be interesting to see in light of what we all knwo Randy Couture did to Sylvia, and the anticipation for a fight between Randy and Fedor. i definitely seeing Fedor winning as well if he fights Sylvia.
It'll be a big moment for Tim and I think he will be caught up in the moment. Fedor will allow Tim to take him to the ground and the armbar will commence when Timmy tries to g'n'p him. kind of like Mir v. Sylvia. I guess an upset could happen with it being Fedor's first fight in the cage, it has gotten the best of of some of pride's fighters. More then likely not though.
That was bad...I thought maybe he broke his jaw and that was why he was moaning. that was just crazy.
yeah that guy looked like lionidous (rampage's quote haha) he was moaning like crazy....it was insane
the kid had it coming...he's trying to be a pro-fighter, and he comes out of his corner with his MOUTH WIDE OPEN AND HIS HANDS DOWN! I mean, thats fighting 101 bro. mouth closed hands up. He had no excuse, he was coming off a rest, he wasnt tired. that guy fought the whole fight with his mouth wide open, it was a miracle he didnt get ko'd in the first. He didn't respect the kid he was fighting and paid dearly for it. it was a scary and embarrassing moment, one of those things that will probably haunt him. the kid said he thought he was one of the best grapplers in the country, but its obvious that not all grapplers pan out to be great fighters.
