yeah, im so glad that kid won...you know the other dude was gonna be a grumpy annoying baby like mac danzig the whole damn season.
great idea to start the season by Dana... makes much more sense. Rampage and Forrest commentary was pretty funny during the fights too. awesome KO in that one fight, and y'all are right, that last fight was really solid. they've already said someone gets kicked out next week though, and i'll bet they bring back the grumpy, Danzig-like-guy.
Honestly I dont even think Serra could take Hughes, and we see what GSP did against him last time. I think losing to Serra could have been possibly the best thing to have happened to GSP. He's more focused and alot more agressive now.
i agree, and after GSP KO's or submits him, Hughes still wants to have their grudge match. my bet is that after the fight with GSP, Serra retires and concentrates on his gym and training other fighters. as the former UFC champ, long term he can make some big scratch doing that, but if he gets brutalized by GSP, and then by Hughes in a grudge match, everyone will know for certain he was a fluke, and his earning potential goes way down as a trainer, IMHO. as for GSP, i believe the only thing that can stop him right now is his own nerves. in his losses to Hughes and Serra, he came out tentative and overcautious. now he is motivated and PO'd. bad news for the division.
I don't think he'd need another loss to take reputation loss after GSP destroys him. Look what his supposedly 2 top students did on TUF........ First guy who is his right hand man and best friend gets whipped first fight then turns ***** and goes home with his tail between his legs. Then this season another one of his top guys, who says he could be one of the best ground guys in the country gets KTFO and shows horrible form in the process. Serra will get some attention because he's been there but he has already taken a huge hit, rep wise. I agree on the retirement part though, after GSP tears him to pieces he's done.
funny, because both coaches are really nice and cool guys. and funny dudes. there hasnt been a season without animosity since the franklin/hughes season...and whats more odd is that these 2 will eventually fight.
Rampage is the man. He was/is my favorite fighters before this show and I'm sure seeing him on there will just reinforce it. That was really cool of him to go hangout with the guys like that.
I hear that throughout the season(contrived or not0 that some animosity does grow... with Griffin pulling a Bill B. and going to RMPs practices and a few other minor incidents...[note the contrived]
What made it worse is the guy had obviously had them on his neck before, meaning he should have known better.
yeah, i would be pretty PO'd if i had just fought the guy and found out after the fact by him getting booted fro the show. he knew he had it and risked giving it to anybody else he fought. that ain't cool.
So who do you guys have tonight? My calls.. GSP over Serra. Franklin over Lutter(I think it will be a battle) Starnes over Quarry McCarthy over Bisping(praying!) and sadly Danzig over Boeck. Hopefully we get to see the Stout v. Clementi matchup, I think it will be a war and possibly the Doersksen v. Macdonald match-up also.
Yeah I'm not really a fan of GSP actually, but Serra isn't my cup of tea either. Kind of indifferent about the match. Good hype for it though and it should be somewhat exciting either way.
I'm with you with for most of those. Although I could see Frankilin getting upset. I'm hoping Bisping loses. I used to root for the guy but then I found out he was a total jackass.
I will never get over the hamill match and the comments he continues to make to this day about it. I know the judges cards aren't his fault but he could've beeen a bit more humble over his "win".
I think GSP is more of a d-bag. Serra talks smack but at least hes honest. GSP says a lot of dumb **** then apologizes.
I like Serra. Hughes was a d-bag to him and a lot of people. And Serra didnt try to be two-faced or sneaky, he was just open and honest about his dislike for the guy. The few people Serra doesn't like, he is very up front and adament about. I think thats a good thing. But he is a good guy, and is kind to people in general. He cares about his fighters.
booooo GSP. I didnt think Serra would win but still. Id love to see Frenchy get his *** handed to him again.
I'm a Purdue grad, which obviouisly means I'm a Fitch homer.....The way GSP looked tonight Fitch has no chance! If Fitch has no chance no-one in the WW division does either.....sadly we are looking at a long GSP run. He will either go down in weight(Penn again even though it should be at WW) or up in weight(Silva) before he gets a challenge IMO.
meh, the fights were pretty boring. Other than seeing GSP destroy Serra, I wasn't inmpressed with much. I was shocked to see Franklin get out of the arm bar. I thought that was the end there. Then Lutter just gassed out. What kind of crappy cardio training does that guy do anyways? You can't even go 2 rounds? Oh yeah, well I guess Matt Serra can't go 2 rounds without gassing either. Way to go champ. I'm thinking you want nothing to do with a rematch. I'm sure we'll see you back in the 155 division in no time. Nate Quarry and his taunting. Dude, you have almost 30 seconds left in the match and you wanna act like a ******? That was just plain stupid. If I was his trainer I'd punch him right in the face for that, right in the middle of the ring. No class whatsoever. Overral it was a pretty lame PPV. I didn't even mention Chainsaw vs Bisping. Well I guess it didn't need mention. Like I said in a thread at Finhell. Chainsaw reminded me of Rocky 3 where he taunts Clubber Lang, and goads him into tiring himself out by punching into his defense. Well Chainsaw, you sure aren't Rocky, and oh yeah, Bisping can throw knees too! LOL
after reading the play by plays on sherdog.com, i was glad i made the wise choice to not order this event. GSP didn't surprise me at all. i like serra, but i always thought he was a weak 170. i mean, he had trouble taking down shonie carter on TUF. But GSP, Guys a freak. He can manhandle jujitsu guys and wrestlers on the ground, and pound them into submission. he is ginormous for 170. it'll take a young buck to knock him off his throne...with a nice dash of luck. im interested to see that D-bag mcdonald and how blatant those late hammer fists were. anyone care to give a description? and franklin/lutter doesnt even matter. the spider owns that division.
