OMFG if the Wolves don't resign Kirk Snyder I will personally fly to Minnesota and beat the **** out of McHale.
i was hoping he'd realize he wont make more money by opting out and stick around, but oh well. Guess it gives the Clippers more flexibility to go after a PG. We'll find Brand's decision later tonight. http://www.latimes.com/sports/basketball/nba/clippers/la-sp-clippers1-2008jul01,0,1092404.story
Sweet! Wizards baby. Jamison is a great player, he and Arenas and Butler are a fantastic combination. If we could get any nonstiff 7 footers on the team we could contend for the title, no doubt. Cmon Arenas.
Why Kevin McHale Still Doesn’t Get it and Kevin Love Won’t Fit in Minnesota http://www.emptythebench.com/2008/0...-get-it-and-kevin-love-wont-fit-in-minnesota/
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=ford_chad&page=FreeAgents-080629 When Kwame Brown is listed as a top 10 FA, you know it's a weak UFA class.
I assume you're talking about Maggette (wasn't entirely clear). He'd play the 2 in Orlando, where the Magic have a great big pile of squat. The Magic LOVE to play small-ball, and they had Lewis more or less playing as a power forward, where he was arguably the worst rebounding 4 in the NBA. However, Dwight Howard is so awesome on the boards that they can get away with that. Playing Maggette at the 2, with Turkoglu at the 3 and Lewis at the 4 would give the Magic some tremendous firepower on the wings. Here's the question though: how, exactly, are the Magic going to get him, unless Maggette will settle for the mid-level exception, which I doubt? They don't have the cap room to give him more than that, and a sign and trade makes no sense for the Clips unless the Magic give up Turkoglu, which I doubt they would.
I still don't get Love being sent to the Celtics' farm team, I mean, Timberwolves. Love is best at PF and so too is Jefferson. Honestly, McHale is wasting Kevin Love by putting him next to Jefferson. I just hate McHale whether it be the under the table dealings with Joe Smith or the piss-poor drafting. Probably took one too many elbows to the head (Interesting that he had a hand in two of Boston's Big 3). But I am glad we extended offers to Turiaf and Vujacic. Keep a developing nucleus together.
It is a terrible free agent class. The RFAs are intriguing, but they seldom change teams. The UFAs are craptastic. That's why the Wizards' signing of Jamison for what they did was a very solid move. 4 years and $50M is downright reasonable considering how many awful UFAs are out there and in line to be dramatically overpaid. I for one look forward to watching some team give Beno Udrih a 5 year, $40M deal and then regret it beginning about 2 weeks into the season. Or DeSagana Diop, who seems like a mortal lock to get about the same deal and then reward his team with 6 points and 6 rebounds a night, entering that area where he does just enough that the GM doesn't kill himself, but stinking enough where he at least considers it. I call like to call this the Erick Dampier Zone.
Yeah I don't know what McFail thinks when he does these deals. I thought they would be happy as hell with Mayo. I like Turiaf a lot. Good energy player. Vujacic can shoot pretty good.
Brand to opt out, hopes to work out deal with Clippers http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3468389
There are good values to be had with a mid-level exception but that's it. I'd love it if Lakers could get a mid-level exception FA to fix up a few holes like Kurt Thomas (brings necessary toughness and board-crashing), Mickael Pietrus (solid defender and solid 3-pt shooter), Eduardo Najera (solid defender), or Matt Barnes (toughness).
What on earth were all those guys like Deng, Gordon, and Iguadola doing turning down like 50+ million guaranteed each? No one has the money to give them bigger deals than this. Is there some other professional basketball league out there I don't know about that wants over rated players winning lotteries like that? I hate Kwame Brown as a Wizards fan. The thought of someone giving that out of shape, lazy, worthless bum of a player any more guaranteed millions makes me sick. You give me his talent and size I'd average at least 15 and 12 a night, hes pathetic.
Agreed. I have no idea why we traded Caron Butler for him. But at least he did eventually net us Pau Gasol.
Yea Grunfeld deserved exec of the year for that fleecing. Butler is a great player and really we gave up nothing to get him. It is shocking that two teams have actually traded anything of value for Kwame. He is young and big but he's a worthless slob I wouldn't pick him for a pickup game at the Y.
http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=nBa&id=622 Here is a link man I hope the Celtics pick him up.
He want to come back to Boston. http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball/celtics/extras/celtics_blog/2008/06/posey_to_opt_ou.html
No man if he want to go I think he would have got out of his contract eailer so he could start geting contracts from other teams eailer. I dont know I think he wants to come back. Why woul he say it if he did not want to?
I don't think Love will succeed at Center to be honest. As for the McCants over Granger comment, I'm not sure either. My only guess is the games played factor. McCants has played 191 games out of 246 possible against Granger's 240 of a possible 246. If you look at their numbers last year, Granger averaged 10 more minutes per night than McCants but only averaged 4.7 points per game more.
Why would he get out of his contract earlier when he could win a championship? Would you leave if your teammates were Garnett, Pierce and Allen? I wouldn't. I'm not saying he doesn't want to but I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave for a team who payed him better. He stated he would come back because he would be on a championship contender.
I think its tonight guys, take my word with a grain of salt. I'll try to find a link stating when it starts. EDIT: Yeah, ESPN says " The new free agents hit the market Tuesday."
