Well, being football fans I'd bet folks will watch both games. My picks: Saints, I think they can beat the Pats if they reach the super bowl Colts, though there will be some sentiment for JT to make a run, he is a Jet, I cannot and will not cheer for the Jets under any circumstances.
i think seattle might make this closer than most think. they are bad eneough that they could also get blown out however lol. i think if seattle keeps it close it will be because they exploit new orleans DEFENSIVE vulnerabilities in covering TEs and RBs in the passing game and being gashed on blitzes by run draws
The Saints are going to pass to set up the run. Nearly half of the Saints playbook is Walsh's pass concepts and the ball control quick pass game. Their aerial attack comes from Coryell's O. Here's an example I cut up of a commentator breaking it down.
its interesting in that i think the way to attack the seahawks defense is through the run. seattle's secondary is decent though small but they are horrendous stopping the run on offense for seattle i expect a lot of run draws and passes to the backs and TEs
IMO Seattle's DB's are not that good. However, they do have game changing potential and that's what you need to be worried about IMO.
The first play of the first Saints drive was this -
agreed. but i think their pass defense is better than their run defense which makes it interesting a bit in that the saints pass offense is better then their run offense lol
Roman Harper missing tackles is not great. It's only one so far but he's a box player. He struggles in coverage at times IMO.
yeah roman having a rough day so far there is the pass to the TE. Seahawks should have that and passes to RBs all day long
And there goes Roman Harper. IMO if Seattle stays in this game, it'll be because of their success on first down and (hopefully) turnover free ball.
Something to wonder: many coaches and NFL Scouts are complaining about how a draft prospect is not running a pro style offense but with so many teams in shotgun spread with empty sets or 10 personnel in the NFL, is the complaint of a lack of a pro style system legitimate? In my opinion, in some cases yes but not in all. Look at Indianapolis, look at New England and here New Orleans. I watched Pat Devlin of Delaware last night and truth is, they were not doing much different than what I saw from New Orleans and New England. The Colts are a one back spread team but they run a ton of levels with tagging and I don't know how many college teams base their O around that. Now if a pro prospect goes to a team like Miami or San Diego, its a different story. Those two teams use the most 21 personnel in the NFL.
They look slow in their drops Alen, and Tatupu badly misread the play on the first down reception to Shockey. Carrol made his bones as a defensive guy I'd bet he has some rollover this offseason on that unit
When I talk about how Henne does not have the necessary athleticism to execute the qb duties, I mean like on that last play fake and draw by brees...The quickness he showed to set his feet then with a full fake throw to the right, than back to the handoff took great suddenness and footwork... Henne is not good and this is his major weakness imo
Touche. He's been making that throw for years now. Anyone remember the playoff game when Joe Jurevicius (sp?) ran a comeback route and Hasselbeck instructed him to tag on to the route to make it a vertical one while Hasselbeck was dropping back?
Well, what I like so far is not any one player on the Seahawks, it is how they are using their offense to control the game, no 3 and outs keep the ball moving..exactly what we do not do in Miami.
Both teams are on point on Special Teams as well, that is the third stop short of the 20 on a kick return.
They have singled out Roman Harper today, eh? They are attacking him. EDIT: Brees! You can't do that!
Did anyone hear that commentator say about 10 mins ago that their stadium was built specifically for crowd noise? must be fun
Damn, Seattle had 7 DB's on that play if I counted right. Usually see a Belichick coached team do that.
Justin Forsett is a nice complementary back. Really strong lower body and he's built low to the ground because of his stature. I like him.
