More or less 5 hours until kickoff of SB 44 in Miami, time for the SB thread to be launched I'd think. Saints are 4 pt underdogs, the Colts passrushing Ace Dwight Freeney has an injury problem that won't allow him to play at a high level. My pick...the Saints by 5, their strength on defense, tackling, is the one thing that helps to limit the Colts potent offense, the Colts defense on the other hand, without Freeney is rather average and in my view it is also designed to play a high scoring game, if the game becomes pound it out, the Colts D is in trouble. The Saints Oline, in my view, is the most underrated unit in football, they lost a All Pro tackle in Jamal Brown and Bushrod stepped in at LT and they did not miss a beat, Freeney's 3rd degree ankle sprain also helps this unit out. X factors for both teams Saints..Reggie Bush, is he a Big Game player capable of scoring on ST, as Wr and a Rb? Colts..Pierre Garcon...big bodied Wr who is a load after the catch. Negative X factors for both teams.. Colts...no Adam Vinatieri, the Closer in 3 SB's Saints..in season FA acquisition Hartley...not really tested week in and week out in pressure situations. MVP choices prekickoff: Reggie Bush Peyton Manning Coin toss...Heads My choice of over and under, I'll say surprisingly under, seen it countless times high powered offense meets two weeks of prepartion time equals low scoring game...of course I could be wrong. What say you? and let's hear your choices for X Factor, MVP, Negative X Factor, Coin Toss and Over and Under.
X factor for the Saints, Darren Sharper. For the Colts, who else? Peyton Manning. MVP: Either Manning or Brees. Coin Toss, Tails never fails lol. Rooting for the Colts tonight.
Considering Minnesota shot themselves in the foot half a dozen times two weeks ago and still had a chance to win, I don't think the Saints are good enough to take out the Colts. I know it's the feel good story and everything but I can't see it happening.
I don't buy into "feel good" stories in the SB, and for me if the Saints do win the allusions to Katrina and the Super Dome would be hellish, but my instincts are telling me that maybe the Saints can maul the Colts a bit and they can score as quickly as the Colts can but they can run the ball better than the Colts. So what is on the SB feast spread this year? For me: Crab Dip Bake inhouse Pizza with extra cheese poato salad Chili Diet Sierra Mist and Green Tea That last one will ruin my reputation..
I'm at my sister's for the game today. I'm the only one rocking a Dolphins jersey. For Eats: - Bacon Jalepeno Poppers - Chili - Little Smokies - 7 Layer Bean Dip - Sliders - Chocolate Cake For Drinks: - Abita Mardi Gras - Sierra Nevada Torpedo - Samuel Adams Noble Pils - Odell Red Ale Yeah, I think the food/drink will be better than the game ... though i'm tempted to put money on the Saints ... I think they will come out loose and surprise the Colts. I expect this to be an offensive show. 37-34 Saints in a shocker.
colts win the game. heads for the coin toss. team will probably kick, but should receive. food = kielbalsa + brown sugar + vinegar. chips + salsa. thinking of concocting a beef + cheese dip as well. /haiku typing.
I always knew you were a lib at heart Padre. Make sure you have some arugula salad with a side of bruschetta as well.
Hah...I'm not made of money...and Bruschetta wrapped around fruit is quite good, but I prefer tomatoes with mozarella and basil and a shot of balsamic vinegar or olive oil. I'm beginning to think a 6 pack may be in order..
I just got chills, watching the pre-game show, Marino threw a pass to Fitzgerald, a nice spiral for a TD! Been a while since I saw dan throw a pass! Hanging home with the family for the first time in a long time. Have Buffalo Wings, Pigs in the Blanket, Home Made Pizza and of course beer. Rooting for the Saints, I have always pulled for them since I was a kid. Brees wanted to be a Fin. Go Saints!
We do Mozzarella, Tomatoes and Balsamic with a sprinkle of italian seasoning all the time. My kids love it. When we don't have fresh tomatoes we use the cherry tomatoes.
We have ours on garlic toast. Don Shula is on right now, man he looks like he could still Coach for a couple of years if he wanted to.
I'm taking the NEW ORLEANS SAINTS. I want to see someone new win first of all. Sick of the Colts, Steelers, Patriots, etc. Plus they deserve it, they've had the best fans in the NFL the past couple of years. The Colts are a former Division rival, when we play them you can still sort of feel it. The Saints have also been the NFC team I usually root for to win the NFC every year, even before Katrina. Let the Saints get their Super Bowl monkey off their backs, then we can get it off ours. Of course it's been muuuuch longer for them then it has for us. Doesn't matter for me though, I wan't born yet the last time the Dolphins made it, So it's all been the same.
Drove to South Beach and passed by the stadium earlier today. Was a real nice day. Id say the fan representation was pretty equal, kinda surprising since New Orleans is obviously closer to here. Security looked pretty tight at the stadium.
Colts by three; 38-35. MVP, Peyton. Who else? Peyton will throw for over 300 and have 3 passing TD's. Colts D will make game changing play late. Pot roast w/mashed taters and gravy. Ice cold Bud ICE. Life is good.
They are showing P Manning and D Brees, and both of them are losing all of their hair, they need a Rogaine sponsorship or something..
Rickey Jackson was a personal favorite of mine, way back when there was a NFL digest article about him. He was being interviewed in the Cafeteria and the server the last piece of meat loaf on his plate. RJ looked at, sat down and said "I don't want last of anything" and he never touched the meatloaf. Saints win the toss with Tails.
