good fight last night with Clottey and Cotto. IMO Clottey won the fight, but he got knocked down in the first round with a straight jab, so that might of been the difference in the points for one of the judges that gave it to Cotto. it was a split decision. unfortunately there was a accidental head butt that opened up Cottos left eye very badly in the 2nd(i believe), that may effected Cotto, cuz he was not as active of a puncher as he usually is.

next big fight is July 18th Mayweather vs. Marquez. zab judah is on the undercard of that fight as well.

espn classics had a tribute to gatti yesterday. Hope you guys got to watch some/all of it.
It is looking like his wife killed him hopefully they find justice for him.

RIP Mr. Gatti. You were a warrior in that ring.

Interesting side note apparently they are making a movie about micky wards life. His brother apparently was a boxing champion who became a drug addict, but helped micky ward train for a bit. Apparently micky came up the hard way. I'm hoping to scoop the book soon. I'll give you guys a review when I do if you wish.

alright, now that im signed in for good, ill post my review of the fight.

it was a very very good and entertaining fight.

Ortiz dropped Maidana in the 2nd round, but Maidana wasnt really hurt by it, he jumped back up immediately and threw a set up jab and landed with a overhand right to drop Ortiz just one punch after he was dropped. Ortiz then dropped Maidana twice in the 3rd(i think). But after that Ortiz let his head get away from him and rather then boxing Maidana he decided to brawl with him, and for anyone that hasnt watched Maidana fight, its not possible to brawl with him. his power at 140 is absolutely INSANE. He dropped Ortiz a couple times in the next couple rounds, then landed a very clean left hook that opened up a very bad cut on Ortiz's right eye, then in the same round(5) at the end of the round he caught Ortiz with a clean right hook that lumped his Ortiz's left eye pretty bad. the fight was called in the 6th due to the cut, but they could of stopped it for either to be honest.

Maidana's record improved to 26-1 with 25 KOs is going to be a force at 140 with his heart and power. even though he was knocked down three times, they all seemed like flash knock downs and he jumped up very quick on each one.

Ortiz's record dropped to 23-1 with 19 KOs. his skills are insane, his hands are incredibly fast and accurate, and hes only 21. so hes going to be a force as well, he just needed to fight smarter and box more, and he could of possibly won the fight. his problem is going to be his heart and chin though. i dont know for a fact, but to me it sounded like Ortiz was the one that asked for the fight to be stopped when the doctor was looking at the cut. and when he was knocked down in this fight, he looked really hurt each time(exact opposite of Maidana).

very exciting 6 round fight though, some huge punches exchanged, if anyone has a chance to catch it, i really suggest watching.

the question arises I think were they both that good or did both of them have little to no defense to get knocked down that much  thanks for the write up bro.

Lost another great champ Vernon "The Viper" Forrest. Light Middleweight and welterweight champion. Fought Sugar shane moseley. He died because some dude jacked his wallet. He then I'm taking it, ran after the guy with a gun and they had a shoot out. He died by getting shot.

    RIP champ.

Did anyone happen to catch Assault in the Ring last night on HBO? If you haven't seen it, I'd highly recommend it. It's a documentary chronicling the fallout from the Billy Collins / Luis Resto fight from 1983. I had actually never heard about this event before, I was blown away. If you're a boxing fan you should definitely check it out.

some of my thoughts about the matches tonight and such:

    1) Gomez vs Karass:
-gomez has heart going out there while bleeding like that.
-good to see gomez got the belt after dominating karass. good rule by the nevada boxing comission, great ruling by the ref.
-Karass is an ex champion and can't seem to control his low blows. I find that hard to believe.
-gomez has some good defense. He avoided alot of karass's blows.

    2)foreman vs. santos
    - santos looked slow throughout this fight. not sure if yuris just that quick or santos is that rusty. i would tend to think its a combination of both.
    - yuri makes history by retaining this belt.
    - I love yuris movement. He bounced back and forth and that really helped him not take some shots.
    - Having said that santos did not look horrible for being gone so long. Yuri better not party and better get ready because Im betting when santos comes back he will look much better.

    3) chavez jr. vs rowland
    - chavez is not his daddy. nowhere near it. He definately has work to do even at 41-0. I guarantee you his dad lands some of the shots jr did on rowland, rowland goes down.
    - rowland did well for a guy coming back from a long layoff and who will probably be nothing more now then a journeyman.
    - chavez jr needs to work on his defense or he is doomed to be like cotto, absorbing way to many punches.

    4) pacman vs cotto
    - pacman deserves the title of pound for pound and showed why tonight. He took some shots, from cotto a hard puncher, and kept on shaking it off. That is scary.
    - Fight should have been called earlier. 9th round, cotto being dominated, cotto bleeding out of both sides of his face, cottos eyes swelling, if pacman doesn't lay off like he did, we could be in mourning for cotto.
    - Having said that, cotto showed he is a warrior. He took a beating and was still landing combos, even if he looked about the 11th round like he was on dream street. Heart of a champion mr cotto.
    - Cottos wife left the fight early, Good mommying by her. No reason to watch that or make her son do so.

Ive said it before Ill say it again, pacman mayweather has to happen. They match up so well its scary. Don't buy the hype folks this is about money, neither one of these guys is afraid of the other. Im sorry pacman was calling cotto to hit him some more, a power puncher, and mayweather coming back and fighting marquez a very good boxer. Fear has nothing to do with them not fighting. Given the money that a fight would sell between these two, it has to happen now.
