Aj Styles could also make the US title legitimate.. Im not sure stoyline wise why Cena would be interested in the US title, hes either world champ or nothing

When Aj Styles was getting ready for the phenominal forearm off the rope, i told my brother Roman is going to spear him mid air and pin him, just watch... And it happened lol basically the same finish as the Jericho match in Wrestlemania

A lot of guys could make the US title legit. But makes sense because when we last saw Cena he lost the US title (I don't count the WM appearance or the 2 weeks he returned in Decemberish before he got hurt again), so storyline wise you can have him come out and say he wants his rematch for the title back.

The women's match was fine, nothing great by any means but it wasn't terrible. The ending was fairly obvious once it was announced Flair was barred from ringside and Dana Brooke was promoted to the main roster. It was basically a RAW type match (like most of the matches last night). The ending was no worse than the Payback Women's match ending.

The Women's division right now is just trending water until the WWE runs their Sasha vs. Charlotte program for Summer Slam.

I'm just glad Kalisto no longer has that belt.. He was getting pre-show matches on PPV's.... like no one gave a crap.. He can't tell a story, made the title run boring. Rusev won it fairly, so I assume that means it's over for Kalisto as far as having the US title goes... back to teaming up with Sin Cara and work on making the tag division stronger.

Which is why I think it makes sense to give Cena the US title back. When he had it it was meaningful and his US Title Open Challenge was the best part of RAW, once he lost the belt the title was meaningless because the writers/Vince had no clue what to do with it.

I'm happy as long as Seth Freakin Rollins, Miz, and Rusev are all playing prominent rolls. Might just be my 3 favorites on the roster these days.

Aj Styles losing to Kevin Owens is just weird.. I mean the guy was one move away from the championship and then you have him losing to KO the next night? Okay i guess lol. KO is great but youd think AJ has established this upper tier over KO

I figured once it was announced it was going to be AJ vs. Owens there was no way AJ was going to win the match.

I do think it was strange that Owens won somewhat clean. I figured once Styles broke away from Gallows and Anderson they were going to cost him the match. Maybe lead to a tag team match at MiTB between The Club vs. AJ and a mystery partner which would turn out to be Balor who would turn on AJ and join The Club.

Right now I think it's leading to an angle where Styles is frustrated that he's so close in every match but just can't get over the hump. Maybe he goes back to Gallows and Anderson saying they were right and he does need them leading to AJ to turn heel.

I think the loss last night is actually better for AJ and there's more interesting ways to go with him and his character than just sticking him in the MiTB match.

This has the potential to be the best MITB match ever. The talent level is through the roof.

Cena made the U.S. Title extremely relevant with his U.S. Open Challenge each week. Putting him back in that role and turning out crazy good matches with younger talents, is fine by me. He can always be plugged back in to the main event scene if and when it is needed.

Sasha Banks is pretty banged up right now with a head injury. The women's division is languishing because of it. It may be time to bring the Doctor Of Huganomics up.

Talent wise from top to bottom I think it's definitely the most talented MiTB match, without even knowing who the last 2 guys are. I think the favorite has to be Kevin Owens, I think he'd do fantastic work with the case teasing cash ins etc. I do like how the WWE seems to be going with the youth/new talent movement and have been pushing out the pre NXT guys aside. I wonder if you're going to start to see more mid carders from that era ask to leave the company like Cody Rhodes did.

I'm all for US Champion John Cena simply because whether you like the guy or not, he brings it in the ring and the open challenge was the best part of RAW all of last year. Cena vs. any combo of Jericho, Cesaro, Owens, Zayn, Styles, Ambrose, Ziggler, Anderson, Gallows etc. Sign me up.

According to Meltzer the plan was always to keep Sasha off TV until the summer to build up to a Charlotte/Banks match at Summer Slam. Her getting banged up a bit is just keeping her off house shows right now but she had been working them since she's been off TV.

Smackdown is moving to Tuesdays on July 19th and will be live on USA. Also there will be another brand split and a draft before the 19th to determine which wrestlers are on which shows.

While I think having Smackdown live is a good thing, another brand split is a terrible idea. Especially with star power so low. Hopefully all the wrestlers I dislike move to Smackdown, that's the only good thing that can come from this (for me anyway).

My guess is the split only lasts a few months before you see wrestlers on both RAW and Smackdown.

They're moving to Tuesdays so they don't have to go head to head against the NFL.

Agreed about the draft. The WWE is loaded with upside talent but are really really lacking with the star power. I can't see how the draft could work this time when they had star power and an even bigger roster in 2002. I think they're doing the draft to try and spike ratings for the first few weeks. It's not going to end well when they are struggling to fill 3 hours of RAW with half their current roster now on the other show.

Back then Brock Kurt and Big Show did well in Smackdown and held their own with the bigger star power of Raw.

How unfortunate that the NFL is aftecting Smackdown's timeslot. The NFL should be Sundays and Mondays.

Smackdown at that time had Brock, Angle, Undertaker, Big Show, Benoit, Edge, Mysterio, Guerrero, Hardy, and Cena. RAW had Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Booker T., RVD, Kane, Jericho, Christian, Flair, Orton and Batista. Also with guys like Hogan, Austin and The Rock popping up. Like I said in terms of star power both shows were loaded.

Smackdown was actually the better "wrestling" show because of the Smackdown 6 (Benoit, Angle, Mysterio, Edge and the Guerreros).

Back then the WWE had the roster to do the brand split. I don't think they have that type of roster right now.

Vince McMahon laughs at moving his #1 guy to the #2 show.

With the low star depth on their roster, if you're a guy like Sheamus and you're moved to Smackdown, would you grab your **** and leave just like Cody Rhodes did lol Might as well go rebrand yourself elsewhere and then look to comeback later.. They need to rethink this.

I like the idea of a brand split. WWE currently has a ton of talent, many of which, aren't doing anything, including people they recently called up. Splitting the roster allows for a few more spots to open up for the roster as a whole, which is a good thing. The original idea of a brand split was good, but ultimately was abandoned due to dwindling talent, and an erosion of brand specific stars. If they can keep the rosters separate for a while (a year), it will make for the initial star jump/crossover to be newsworthy, in my opinion.

What I DO NOT like is the idea of two world champions. I think the champions should be obligated to have to appear on both brands, almost as a throwback to the territory days when the champ would come into a territory and make that specific card, even better. If you are the champ (Heavyweight, Tag, Women's), you should be obligated to more appearances across both brands, in my opinion. The argument against it is that you sort of hamstring the shows from creating their own identities since they still have the same champions, but I disagree with that notion. I think you can make both shows unique in feel and force your champions to adjust to the climate/culture of each.

For example, if you have Shane run RAW, he is known as more of a risk taker and as such, maybe you have more stipulations to matches than you do on Smackdown, that is being run by Stephanie who prefers to play match maker by setting up champs against friends, superstars they have traditionally lost to, etc. You can have unique environments where a champ is forced to fight in a Texas Tornado match on Monday, and then a best 2 of 3 on Tuesday, and see how, if possible, they survive.

I do think a brand split makes filling three hours of RAW difficult. It would be best for them to go to two hours, but that won't happen anytime soon, so it is what it is. My guess is RAW will have more skits/backstage segments to help fill in the gaps, as well as a bunch more talent coming up from NXT.

I also do like the idea of allowing trades, recruiting from NXT, etc. As long as it doesn't happen all the time. I might even think of having a trade deadline from Survivor Series until after the Royal Rumble, or something like that. Essentially locking the rosters in for Wrestlemania a few months prior so that story lines can develop.

I will do my own split later and give reasons for certain people on which show, as well as what rules I would establish for creative not to break.

According to Meltzer right now the plan is to have Shane manage one show while Stephanie manages the other. Roman Reigns will headline one show while Cena will be the #1 guy on the other. There will be 1 WWE Heavyweight Champion and 1 WWE Women's Champion who will appear on both shows, while the US title and IC title will be assigned to one show. The draft will take place on RAW on the 7/11 show. Of course Meltzer states that plans are subject to change.

If the WWE is going to be a brand split then having 1 WWE Champ and 1 Women's Champ is the way to go and having them move between shows is for the best while keeping the IC and US titles on separate shows it makes those titles more meaningful. I hope plans stay that way.

Didn't watch Raw until now, been so busy...

All I got out of it was...

    >>> Fans begging Vince to make Seth a babyface
    >>> Vince keeps Seth a heel, forces you to like Reigns

  26. Samphin

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

Seth belongs as a heel. e was always going to get the baby face pop upon returning, as most people do. His job was to turn the crowd, and he did. Sign of a true pro.

As for the brand split, I like what I am hearing so far about the champions being cross branded. It makes for cross over viewership, in my opinion.

Any guesses as to the #hatch photos WWE has been posting? My guess is Bray Wyatt, but curious if any other theories are out there.

That's an extremely tall task consider that was the greatest period of wrestling ever with the greatest talent roster and some all time performers. The answer is no, not even close. However there have been some pretty good 2 or 3 month periods there the shows have been pretty good and storylines have been tight. But unfortunately nothing really consistent mainly because there's a big lack of direction from the top.

Loved the Styles/Cena story. I think they could have milked AJ being a face for a little while longer, but that is a minor thing. The turn and beatdown was quite believable and keeps AJ relevant and towards the top of the card where he belongs. He is the MVP of the first half of 2016 in WWE.

The interactions between Jericho and Kevin Owens were hilarious. More of that, please.

Why they didn't call the Fandango/Tyler Breeze tag team FaBreeze, is beyond me.

Yeah I liked the Cena/Styles segment. I was surprised Gallows and Anderson came out because they already appeared and attacked New Day so I figured they were setting them up to be the next challengers. I agree I think they should have milked the AJ/Cena thing a little longer, maybe had AJ turned on him at MiTB in a tag match against Anderson and Gallows. But hey I'm not complaining if we get a few Cena/Styles matches which should be pretty damn good. I wonder where that leaves Finn Balor if/when he comes up, does he join "The Club" as the 4th member or goes solo.

And Kevin Owens is great always.

The Big NXT show is on now.....

American Alpha losses the tag straps to the Revival.....

then Two AGILE Monsters that look like Animal from the Road Warriors show up and lay waste to American Alpha....

and who then is at the ramp looking ominous?

PAUL ELLERING. Nuff said. **** is gonna get Lit. Junior Road Warriors?

NXT pretty much always delivers. That tag ,arch was the match of the night for me. American Alpha will be stars on the main roster and their inevitable feud with The New Day is going to be tremendous. However, I have somewhat slept on Dash & Dawson. They don't look like much and even sort of look like a generic jobber team, but damn do they do good work. Lots of little things that help them get over as heels. Distracting the ref so the other can take cheap shots, grabbing the tights/ropes, knocking the opposing tag team member off the apron when going for the pin, etc.

Just really good, fundamentally sound, tag team wrestling.

The rest of the card was really well done too. Women's match seemed a bit off, but still very good. And I have to believe that Balor is being called up soon.

Agreed with everything you wrote. But I just worry that Vince is going to take a look at Dash and Dawson and their size and immediately have them doing jobs to the Usos on Superstars. I also worry that Vince is going to take a look at Jordan and his size and split him up from Gable way too soon (which is my worry about Cass right now too).

Between AA, D&D, New Day, The Club, Enzo and Cass and even the Dudleys, Lucha Dragons, Breeze and Fandango and Usos the WWE has a pretty solid tag team division that hasn't been that deep since the early 2000s.

I'm sure NXT is going to be gutted for the Draft, which is good news for some of the ROH/Indy guys looking for a foot into the WWE door because there are going to be a lot of new openings.

  39. Samphin

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

To be clear, I am NOT advocating Dash and Dawson to the main roster. At least not anytime soon. I think they certainly have visual limitations in the eyes of Vince and others. I almost think they would need to come in as muscle for someone else to even have a legit shot at working on the main roster.

As for American Alpha, Jason Jordan is the long-term breakout star, for sure. But he is not as good a technician as Gable, and Gable is the lifeblood of that team. He creates their tandem spots, is the face-in-peril and provides enough heat to give Jordan the hot tag. They would need to team for awhile in order to get the fans to buy in, before the inevitable break up.

But just imagine a hot run as faces, New Day starts to go back to their heelish ways, and at the apex of their feud...Jordan turns on Gable and joins The New Day as the newest member. I would love to see something like that.

Oh I know you weren't advocating Dash and Dawson to the main roster. I was just thinking more long term. I agree with you it makes sense if they're part of a stable ala Andersons as part of the Horsemen or Haas/Benjamin part of Team Angle.

Yeah Jordan is the bigger prospect long term but he has a lot to learn. Teaming him with Gable in order to have to get experience and get over would be the best thing for him.
