[EDITED TITLE]
Make your predictions about what you think the Dolphins FO will or won't do this off-season.
NOTE - Don't post what you want them to do or what you think would be good or bad - Post what you think THEY WILL do.
For me? Despite the calls for upgrades on the OL I've got a feeling that the team will NOT be addressing the OL with any major picks.
I suspect the team may seek to prioritise other positions of need over the OL believe that RT is set with James, LT with Tunsil who is developing, Pouncey at Center and Asiata coming in at guard. I think they will select a C or G at some point lower down, but I don't think it will be a high pick - unless some ridiculous talent filters down beyond expectations.

Move up for top QB in Draft. Don't even want to guess who that is pre-combine. Put some heat on Tannehill for this year with the better QB starting in '19.
-
I think we continue to focus on defense with a 1st round linebacker or edge rusher. We will also grab a running back and a TE in the top four rounds...it will be interesting to see where folks like Mark Andrews of Oklahoma end up. Most of the draft will be corners, edge rushers and linebackers though, with the only other exception being a punter around the 6th-7th round.

Make what we consider a fair deal to Landry and let him walk if he refuses. Draft a mid/low round rookie and/or sign a lower end FA to replace if he does.
Sign at least 1 top tier OL (partly is this is what I want, but I think there is a good chance - got to upgrade that G Spot heh).
Bring in a new QB to compete with Tanny and let Moore fade into the sunset. This will be a pick in rounds 1-3. Tanny will be given the edge, but they will also hedge against injury to him, unshakeable rust from lack of play time, and invest in a youth.
Make some positional coaching changes - perhaps replace OC with a playcaller to lessen the load on Gase and let him focus more on coaching and high level stuff.
Not fire Gase or, sadly, TBum.
Pick up a mid-tier, bigger RB to spell Drake - a guy like Hill, Crowell, etc.
Churn lower end FA for JAGs to help fill secondary/LB/DL etc.
... Move on from Wake unless he takes a big cut. Adding another significant passrusher in FA or rounds 1-2 if so. -
Nothing, like almost ever year, just ignore the offensive line issues and QB issues, nothing to see here move along.

I think Gase/Tannenbaum stay.
Julius cut.
Pouncy released/traded.
If we can use Timmons' AWOL to get out of his guaranteed money, he will be gone. If not, we might have to bight the bullet.
FA O-lineman
Draft - Early pick on an O-lineman
Draft a TE (Mike Gesicki?)
In some way, shape, or form, we will add QB competition.
60% chance Landry is back
Parker returns.
The Lippett/Tankersly boundary corner is an area that we try and upgrade.
Burke is fired
McMillan's return constitutes addressing LB.
Here is the interesting one - I think Jordan Phillips gets a decent sized extension this offseason. I think that the front office thinks it would be cheaper to give him the money now than wait a year. (I personally have my doubts, but I really could see this happening.) -

Embarrassing.
Gase wanna shove that **** down my throat again about how he likes the players being aggressive?
Dude and these guys can get the **** our of here.
Landry...wanted 1 thing. To get his 1k. What a POS.
Undisciplined.
Just cancelled my season tickets. Hope everyone else does too.Redwine4all likes this. -
For real, bro. Say it once and go sit down. We heard you the first time.
It's not funny. It's not useful. Ha. Ha. We get it.Irishman likes this. -
The urgency of the O-line has a lot to do with (A) whether we retain James and (B) how the draft falls. At this point, Tunsil and Davis are starters. So if the right guy is available, I could see us addressing O-line as highly as Round-2.
The urgency of adding weapons really is a function of whether or not Jarvis Landry is re-signed. If Landry walks, it opens the door for a TE in a major way. That could be our Round 1 or Round 2 pick.
As usual, I see the defense as needing help on all 3 levels. I don't see any drastic moves though. I think we could very well end up spending on 1st rounder on a DE if the right player is there. Hard to see the value in many other positions. -

Amen to that.

LINEBACKER AND DEFENSIVE END WILL BE OUR 1ST AND 2ND ROUND DRAFT PICKS.
IF we addess Oline it will be through free agency. They have to be ready to start day one next year. No time to groom them.
Tight ENd and Running back will be added but I don' know if through draft or FA.
Pouncey will be retained.
Kiko will be retained
Vance Joseph will be fired by Denver and rehired by us as defensive coordinator.
We make the playoffs next year -
Our biggest needs are TE and Oline. Some of the best linebackers and DEs from last year's draft were picked in the third and 4th rounds. We should go TE and oline first two rounds.shamegame13 likes this. -
Offensively, I believe we're set with playmakers, with the exception of Parker. He has moments of brilliance but is a bit fragile and not a reliable dominant receiver. So offensively, look for the front office to address the OL, either through the draft or free agency.
Defensively, as much of a defender as I have been for Kiko, he doesn't have the ability to cover TE's on pass plays and Wake is getting up there a bit in years. Granted our overall defense hasn't played up to the overall ability of the unit and I lay that blame at Burke's footsteps but then again in all fairness, we were decimated by injuries early in the season/preseason. So defensively, I see LB and DE being addressed. Due to all of the injuries, I see Burke getting a pass on his first year at DC but if his defense implodes again next year, watch for him to be shown the door -
LB and OG.

Re: Mark Andrews. We'll see. All the sites list him 6-5 250lbs but he certainly looks bigger than that doesn't he? I don't know if he's got the speed to warrant an 11th overall pick, but he might be an intriguing trade up option towards the beginning of round 2. If he destroys all the offseason draft programs then maybe we can revisit this. This team could use a Witten-like dependable TE to keep our offense on the field longer. He is, at best, an average run blocker as well.Last edited: Jan 1, 2018 -
I could justify going LB in the first but not DE again.
Andrews is 6'5 260 and he has plenty of speed. You hardly ever see him have problems separating or getting caught from behind. He is a gronk type tight end in my opinion and we badly need to add that dimension to our offense. We haven't had a dominant tight end here in ages. -

We'd draft one to play on the opposite side of Harris. Have a tandem youth passrush for a few years. -
Our bigger needs right now are oline, TE and LB, in that order. We can definitely afford to pass on another 1st round DE for next year. Drafting another one back to back is just stupid unless you think harris is a total bust and hayes can't make it back healthy. -
I'll update this based on yesterday-
1) I think we offer Landry $6-8M a year, he demands $12-15 and he ultimately gets traded away last minute. Or if we do sign him, there's a stipulation in there that all of his bonuses are voided with any after-the-play unsportsmanlike penalties.
2) Ross said that Gase and all executives are staying so that's not a conversation anymore. I do think we make some moves on other coaches though since the team culture is not where Gase wants it. The penalties have to stop.
3) I think we keep Timmons, McDonald, Wake, Kiko and most of our starters on defense- although I'm buying more and more into moving Suh to another team (unless we can heavily restructure). While I think Suh is worth the money, I just don't see how we can afford him on that "try before you buy" contract. We did the same with Tannehill and you just can't have multiple contracts that keep growing year after year.
4) As much as I'd like to pretend Cutler is gone, I have a feeling that we see him in training camp if another team doesn't pick him up as a 2018 starter (they won't). I am wondering if Moore is on the hot seat though based on starting Fales this past week. I do like the sound of the depth chart with RT, Fales and a mid-round draft pick so we're building for our future today. So I think Cutler competes for the starting job in training camp and gets cut somewhere along the way.
5) I have a feeling that this draft will be BPA from top to bottom, with the only real focus on linemen on both sides of the ball. I think we grab a TE and a RB earlier on but I'm also halfway expecting us to move back whenever possible and grab some extra picks.
6) In free agency, I think we have another year with a blockbuster trade, but this time it's going to be saying goodbye to Landry or Suh for draft picks. I don't think we bring in any veterans unless it's at corner or tight end....two positions where we have a lousy track record in trades.
7) Finally, I don't think we focus on the starting offense at all unless it's at TE or RB. Thomas will be gone so I think that's the only day-one starter slot available unless we go guard in round one. -
Even so I think we can get Hayes back for not too much money. He is by far our best run defender and a decent pass rusher.
Even if he is not back I would put oline, TE and linebacker higher on our list of needs than DE. I definitely don't want another first round DE this year.
A game-changing tight end would have a lot bigger impact for us right now than another 1st round DE. -
We need a FS like dolphins need water.

this front office needs to adhere to this philosophy in the first and 2nd rounds..just make sure the player you select is going to be good..don't worry to much on whether they may be a bit overrated by pundits, the value will be there if they pan out..
