According to the Toronto Sun OG Dimitri Tsoumpas was released by the Dolphins, which are now at 80 players after signing 2 rooks Thursday.

Shocking kinda, waiting for more confirmations.....developing...

Damn, the Tsoumpas supporters will be disappointed. That was rather quick though.

Not a real surprise though alen, as soon as Proctor was signed he was on the bubble just from a positional flexibility standpoint.

Should be interesting to see if he lands back in the CFL or if another team picks him up.

No I'm not surprised. I figured others would be though. Some had him competing for the starting job, which was surprising to me but I've never seen teh guy play so I can't say, IIRC.

Nah, I once heard bubble players compared to puppies that you cannot keep, do not grow attached to them as they could be gone at any time.

Stumpy is the first player voted off of Sparano Island.

Sparano/Gugs like to pull their Guards out...wide..as in 10 yds down field wide, and that wasn't his game, he is more of a inline/short pull type of G.

And I'd trade Stump for Grant in .03ths of second, I liked him, but imho we needed that Nickel DE/DT far more.

I think that class though by Miami to cut him now, so he has a chance to catch on somewhere else....

The way they mine the CFL that makes a difference if they want to sign someone else, he know can wind up in another NFL Camp or sign for about 200k in the CFL when they are in game #5 of a 18 game season.

Is Sir Vincent Rodgers still on the team?
I assumed he would be the first to get this shipping papers.

Should be, maybe the Rams or the UFL.

When Stump signed, there was no Incognito, John Jerry, Cory Proctor.

He signed with the UFL's Hartford Colonials, where Josh McCown signed and where the HC who gave Sparano his first NFL job Chris Palmer is the HC.

Should be interesting to see where Stump lands.

Yes, of course, it's Richie Incognito, John Jerry and Cory Procter that forced the slow and unathletic CFL'er off the roster. Not the dynamic triplets Ray Feinga, Andrew Hartline and Lydon Murtha, all of whom will surely start this year.

Of course, never mind the Eagles, Jets, Bengals all worked him out, and Sparano signed him because all 4 franchises cannot recognize oline talent..

All I heard form certain posters here is how great Tsoumpas would be when I stated that Garner would be the starter at LG. I still think that will be the case over the rookie and Donald(I can't pass block) Thomas. Dimitri is still yet to play in the NFL while Garner started 8 games last season including a start when Thomas was completely back and healthy. Coach loves Nate Garner. Big, strong and very physical. The kid will be one of the Orca 5. :wink2:

We'll see, if he does not sign elsewhere in the NF then by all means, drop the party balloons.

As for Nate Garner, let's see how much he has improved after missing offseason workouts before one breaks one's arm patting yourself on the back..:wink2:

Nate Garner's biggest strength is his versatility. Didn't he play 4 of the 5 line spots at one point or another last season. I do expect him to compete for the starting Guard spot opposite Incognito, but if John Jerry shines like I think he will he could wrest that spot from Garner.

Thats one position battle I'm looking forward too over the next few weeks.

Garner will be back and healthy. It will be just like last season.
We will not be able to keep the guy off the field. Those were Tony's words not mine. No one gives big Nate a chance but he can do it all. Versatile and physical. I know people hate when I'm right. I'm not patting myself on the back and certainly won't break my arm but Nate Garner will open some eyes. As if the Carolina game last season wasn't enough. I'm sticking to it. Feel free to bust my balls if I'm wrong.

Me too man. Keep in mind just because certain guys run with certain groups in camp and preseason doesn't necessarily mean we will know anything till opening day. Just go back and ask Rex Hadnot.
Ah hell I'm sure you already knew all that.
Sure is nice to have competitive position battles. Depth is a mighty powerful thing.

Well, keep in mind Garner and Thomas rotated into games for a reason, one was better at passblocking, the other better at runblocking, to expect either to suddenly discover they are a starter in the NFL seems a stretch.

I sorta expect J Jerry to win the job.

As for Stumpy, eh, I've been wrong before

Rotating OL is not my favorite thing as I have said before and we were actually penalized for delay of game or false start last season which escapes me at the moment. I would love to see a clear cut starter at LG but I do hear ya and if they feel that is best well you know...we have to live with it. Doing that creates confusion and leads to mistakes IMO. I don't have much faith in DT these days. If he was going to be the guy he would have already stepped up I think.
Jerry will be too green to jump in I think but you never know. Obviously I want the best guy out there regardless of who I think might land the spot.
    Gonna' be an exciting competition.

Bro, the Oline this yr will be sick, Stumpy was a two time All CFL player and he could not cut the mustard in Miami, we have come a long, long way from worrying about LJ Shelton losing enough weight to play RT, or Carey playing LT.

This Oline group is thick Bro, really thick.

No doubt! I love the guys we have in that group. They were beat up last year and STILL had the #4 rushing attack . These guys were good last year and they will be great this year!
