Oklahoma WR Malcolm Kelly ran forty times of 4.75 and 4.68 at his Pro Day on Wednesday.

This may very well knock Kelly out of first-round consideration. For comparison's sake, Dwayne Jarrett ran 4.67 and 4.62 at his Pro Day a year ago and went No. 45 overall. Kelly's vertical leap (32") also was unimpressive. He did reportedly look "very good" in position drills. Teammate Reggie Smith ran 4.65 and 4.61. Non-zone teams may only look at Smith as a safety now.

Some guys don't test out that well, but having watched Kelly play against my CU BUffs, I would take him if he was still there at #32. He has great hands.

    UPDATE
NFL | M. Kelly unhappy with school
    Wed, 9 Apr 2008 12:02:31 -0700

Jake Trotter, of The Oklahoman, reports University of Oklahoma WR Malcolm Kelly is unhappy with his school after his Pro Day performance Wednesday, April 9. Kelly said he was not told that the location of the Pro Day had been moved from Astroturf to field turf until this morning. He claims he had been preparing for a month to run on Astroturf and was running the 40-yard dash in under 4.50 seconds. Kelly ran the 40-yard dash on field turf Wednesday, April 9, in 4.68 seconds.

According to sources on the scene Kelly’s agent Chad Speck got into a heated verbal confrontation with the Oklahoma Sooner strength and conditioning coach, claiming Oklahoma had set Kelly up to fail. Kelly’s agent was told never to return to the facility.

One player we spoke with who ran well during OU’s first pro-day declined to run today because of the slow surface. This morning we were told the location of the forty was run on a different surface which was even slower. There is presently a huge argument as to why the forty was run where it was.

Yeesh, so much for McShay pegging him as the best overall receiver in the draft.

I believe Jerry Rice ran a 4.7 forty. Forty times I think are sometimes overrated. I like Kelly and hes a good player. Good soft hands. If he is at 32, you take him.

No way Kelly goes in the 1st now IMO. Thomas will, Sweed and/or Hardy might.

Catching the ball, the ability to get open, break free when being jammed, all rank higher in my book than 40 times.
