Did I miss something, is JT definitely out? I thought he was still shopping?
-
i suppose he is techically as he's not been re-signed yet.
-
Ah ok, I just must have misinterpreted it as meaning he definitely won't be coming back. I think the odds are unless he gets a "blow him out of the water" deal he'd stay.
I mean he did take a massive paycut for a hometown discount last year. I find it hard to believe he wants to pack his bags again. But maybe I'm just being hopeful, having him on board again this year would definitely help that OLB issue a ton.DeDolfan likes this. -
JT isn't 'out' ... but it is probably much like last year ... he is Plan B
it is likely we will draft '2' OLBs .... 1 in the 1st round after we trade down ... and one later in the draft -- such as round 4 ... outside of S there is no more compelling need (to include WR). -
anderson and moses can't get it done and wake is probably the best of the group but he hasnt even played the position yet.
we will be drafting at least two guys and i hope one of them is brandon graham. he can play all the lb positions in my mind and can also be a situational pass rusher. i would love to move down and still get him but that is easier said than donedolfan7171 likes this. -
The "journalists" at bleacherreport are fans just like you and me. They have no inside information. So take what he says with that in mind.

the backups at the position are sub average.
what does that leave you?
a possible over the hill ex star returning (doubt it happens), a couple of nobodys in anderson and moses, and a guy who is listed as an OLB but can't play with his hand up. if someone mentions walden im going to LMFAO.
this group is weak as hell
not hard at all to see really -
A) Late Again is right, this 'article' is a fanboy like you or me.
B) I really dislike when writers misrepresent the truth, especially in headlines, to try to create interest. He says the Dolphins "Targeted" these linebackers. That means he KNOWS this front office has these five guys on their board with a big ****ing circle saying WE WANT THESE GUYS SPECIFICALLY> No, buddy, you don't have a damned clue if the front office has targeted these guys. These are five guys you THINK the Dolphins SHOULD target.
********'s trying to sell an opinion piece as reporting news and fact about what the Dolphins themselves intend to do.
Low low quality stuff.
That said, it IS fun to read about the prospects we have, journalistic standards aside, so thanks for posting the link in this thread.dolfan7171 and late again like this. -
JT, and Wake's fullness as an OLB are the two determining factors in whether we take an OLB in the first round or two, or try to find a value pick later on. Or double up on OLBs early like we did with the CB position in Davis and Smith.
If JT comes back, and they think Wake can make the jump from Pass Rushing Specialist to Full Fledged OLB, we only need another guy to take Taylor's place soon/rotate with him this year.
If JT doesn't come back, we need someone who can start immediately, probably 2 guys if at all possible.jetssuck likes this. -
I don;t see Cameron Wake flouishing as a well-rounded OLB. Sorry.
He plays his best (by far) when he is a down lineman, and I have little faith he'll be able to play well dropping backwards into space.
MAYBE he at least learns to honor his run gaps and hold the edge, read plays like screens. If he could at least do that much we can play him more.
Otherwise he'll be stuck as a nickel and dime pass rush specialist. -
I don't think anything is certain, even with these five. Who knows who slides to number 12 depending on the flavor of the month for the first 11 teams. We still don't know if there will be any trades for any on the first eleven picks including the 1st. The Dolphins may get a chance to trade down from 12 for additional picks depending on who slides to No# 12 and how bad a team picking later may want him. Twelve is a good spot though for good talent or a trade.

Respectfully, you have no idea if he has any inside info or not. The author is a columnist reporting for the Fins and heat and submits certain articles to the site. He is just a newspaper writer much like Hyde, Kelly, Cote, etc. The article was not posted as any official report of any kind but just as one writer's opinion. Please don't make it any more, or less, than it is. :knucks:dolfan7171 likes this. -

Assuming Moses comes into the fold, the job of the OLBers would be his and probably Wakes to lose. Are you confident enough in that group to think that they won't be adding guys ?? I'm sure not. Wake has big questions about being a FT player. Moses has looked good at times, but couldn't unseat a disruptive, disgruntle and aging Peezy and an aging JT that finally showed his age last season. Anderson has been a good STs guy and fill-in when needed, but not a FT player. After that, who is there ?? Having a lot of bodies is different than having a lot of depth...
No, this franchise has a dearth of OLB talent even if JT comes back.... I could even see them taking Graham/JPP/Hughes in the first and Kindle/Worilds in the second. We know they like to double up or at least have done so in their two drafts here.Killerphins likes this. -

By all indications he's a fan like you and I, writing about two teams he follows.
To be fair I'll give you that he could have inside information. He could be the brother of some person in the FO, as unlikely as that may be.
But he's not a legitimate journalist. For instance he doesn't get credentials that get him into the press box at Heat games or Dolphin games.
How do I know this? Because his "Sportswriter Profile" tells me he writes for Bleacherreport only. If he wrote for someone else, as well it stands to reason that would also be included in his profile. Nowhere in his profile did I read anything to make me believe he's a professional writer for the Fins and/or Heat.Larryfinfan and Bpk like this. -

Anyways, it's a non issue because it IS entertaining to read as long as we understand it's just a fan's opinion.late again likes this. -
agreed that 12 will be a good position to trade down with .... heck we could trade down twice and still end up around 20-22 .... and add some solid picks in late 2/ early and late 3 .... and i agree that we'll spend 2 picks on OLB in this draft .... and probably another ILB as well.
this regime very much desires a game changing OLB .... and sorry JT just doesn't fit that mold .... and Wake is still very much a 1 trick pony right now. we really, really need that stud OLB to make this defense what it needs to be .....Killerphins likes this. -

dont sit on your hands and wait for him we have to move forward
the linebacker situation is in shambles except for the dansby addition
this is the year to add OLB twins -
Due to the advent of the internet which in turn has allowed for the creation of blogging en masse, the lines have become awfully blurred as to what should and should not be considered "journalism".
I guess I'm just a little old fashioned, in that I believe well written blogs are not enough to consider someone a journalist. I also believe there to be a difference between a reporter and a columnist, too.DeDolfan likes this. -
Actually, I can write but don't consider myself a writer. point taken tho!! :knucks:late again likes this. -
I think regardless of what JT does, the Fins will take at least one and possibly 2 OLBs, one of them early. And if by luck Derrick Morgan IS still there at #12, the Dolphins representative at the draft will break an indoor record sprinting to hand in the card. This guy has Parcells written all over him.

Better yet, join the Club if you can and you can hear from them a lot more...JMHO, but I'd take those three (as well as several others in the club over the bleacher report any day... -

if he clocked as slow as the reports are .... he won't be much of a Parcells guy ...
