According to a source via Bob Grotz of the The Mercury, the Philadelphia Eagles tried to trade a second round draft pick and Brandon Graham to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for pass rusher Dion Jordan. Grotz notes that this offer was made around two months ago, but it's still incredibly interesting to note. Here's exactly what Grotz had to say: The details are unimportant. The Eagles are said to have included a second-round pick and linebacker-defensive end Brandon Graham. For now Jordan is still part of the Dolphins, who say they’re going to find a way to get him more snaps next season. Almost everything about a deal for Jordan still makes sense, including the contract should the Eagles package in some way a first-round pick. Grotz suggests the Eagles could offer their first round pick (No. 22 overall) this year to sweeten the deal. In fact, he goes on to say that "a first round pick gets it done." Jordan’s contract wouldn’t be a huge obstacle to a trade. The Eagles would be picking up the remainder of his four-year, $20.572 million fully guaranteed pact according to Overthecap.com. The Dolphins would take a $10 million salary cap hit this year if they traded Jordan before the draft. After June 1, the Dolphins would be able to spread the cap charge over two years. If the Eagles included their first-round pick in a deal, Overthecap.com calculated they would be paying slightly more than what the 22nd overall pick would earn in the 2014 draft and saving bonus money. All of that for a guy Kelly considered an elite talent. MOD EDIT....PLEASE POST A LINK WHEN QUOTING AN ARTICLE.
I wish we'd go ahead and do it. He'll never be anything for us because we refuse to use him correctly.
Awfully tempting. Ultimately, if the team doesn't get him on the field, then they should allow him to be a star somewhere else instead of wasting his time. Only for a first, though.

Sounds awesome, except for the $10 million cap hit. If we're going to take the extra cap hit, it should be for their 1st. It does open up a new possibility: do this trade on draft day where we give up our 2nd and get their 1st at #22 (it's about the same value as 2 2nds). If there's a player we really want at #22, giving up Dion Jordan is one way to get him.
WTF!The article I posted was on yahoo making it seem like this trade was refused in 2015 but it was really 2014.
What about this quote: "Buried in the preoccupation with pass catchers is that the Eagles, according to a respected NFL source, made an offer almost two months ago for pass rusher Dion Jordan" Not saying I trust what these guys write, but maybe there is a source?
Ah, now it makes sense. In April 2014, Dion Jordan had a lot of trade value. But now that he's failed 2 drug tests, suspended 6 games, he's damaged goods. One more infraction, and he could be suspended 10+ games (like repeat offenders Josh Gordon and Justin Blackmon). Maybe we could have gotten a 1st rd pick for Dion Jordan in April 2014. But not today.
Thats one reason why you should always post a link. The most important reasoon is that its against the TOS to not do so.
In other recent news, the Fins are considering trading draft choices to Tampa Bay for Hugh Green.....
A GM would be considered nuts to give up a 2nd round pick for Jordan at this stage, let alone a first.
Jordan is outstanding when he's on the field, blocking punts and great in coverage. If he got more snaps, he'd be a game changer.
Thanks for wasting everyone's time with a year old article...This just in Dolphins could be a front runner to land Peyton Manning!
