He seems to be trying to hint that players are telling him things off the record about Garrard. I know that on the record, on air and whatnot, they turn to granite when it comes to giving away which QB they like best. I think the only acceptable show of favor would be Hartline saying that Matt Moore is his guy just because they've produced together. None of the others will say a word.

I felt from the minute they signed Garrard he would end up being their QB this year. IMO he fits a WCO offense better and is a proven vet who brings stability, presence and leadership which are all things we need from a QB right now. The article also highlights a few things about Garrard that are often overlooked. His late game heroics arent legendary but he accomplished a lot with a bunch of washouts like Ernest Wilford and Mike Sims-Walker..by comparison Davone Bess, Brian Hartline, Chad Johnson, and whoever else makes the team will be damn near pro bowl level. Garrard is also the new regimes best chance now at a winning season. Hes proven he can win close games and with our defense there should be quite a few of them where we hang around. If we have a QB who can pull out late wins, its a must he be our guy.
Im not willing to rush Tannehill...hes ready when Philbin feels hes ready. And Matt Moore is a decent backup but nothing more to me. Plus the WCO offense really highlights Moore's weaknesses imo.Phyl, PhinsRock, dolfan32323 and 6 others like this. -

The play and energy of Pennington on that particular team really cements the impact of good Qb play and leadership relatve to wins in this league.
I mention energy because he literally made the players around him better by motivating them thru his leadership skills, and his youthful exuberance for the game...The thing with Penny that was so unique was that at one moment he was a serious grown up, another, just a crazy mother grabber that will get in the face of anyone on the team...I remember the practice where he played lose yourself by eminem, and when the beat dropped, that dude had all eyes on him..in moments like that, he inspired his team to play at a higher level...Just a great freakin leader..
I hope Garrad has some of that freedom in him, and just doesn't come at the position all serious.
What I like about Garrard is what he did with not a lot of talent, earnest wilford was garbage, and sims walker is where?
I like the athletic precision for which he executes his mechanics and fundamentals..There isn't wasted motion as he plays the position.
One could make a case for our success that year with Penny based on turnover differential, well Garrard in a season, threw 18 tds and only three ints..posted over a hundred passer rating, and was inked to a 60 million dollar contract that offseason.
If he can bring that precision play, scramble for some key first downs, be accurate with the football, let our defense play their game with decent rest and field position, I see us having a winning record.Killer Bees likes this. -
It sure as hell would be exciting if he anything like Penny was in 08. I miss watching this team play with something on the line besides a shot at Andrew Luck. Just win baby.

As long as he makes good decisions ie. Doesn't turn the ball over, I dig.

Been saying since we signed him, Garrard is our starter this season, while Moore makes a solid #2 and Tannehill takes a year to get up to NFL speed and reading NFL defenses.
