So apparently the Browns are releasing/released Jake Delhomme. Perusing my Tweets, I see this: Link: HERE OK, so he plays for the Brownies last year. We have Daboll. Does this make sense, or just Kelly seeing if anything sticks? Thoughts?
I guess that makes sense considering he knows Daboll's offense already. I'd hope that'd be a contingency if a deal for Orton isn't worked out though.
We need 3 QBs. Delhomme is an experienced vet and knows the offense. Not sure what the problem is? For the people objecting, why again would it be bad to have Delhomme as a #2/#3 QB?
Yes, it makes perfect sense. We need a backup quarterback. If we trade for Orton, I think it makes a lot more sense to pick up Delhomme, who is familiar with Daboll, as the backup than it does to keep a disgruntled Chad Henne. Ship Chad Henne off somewhere else for whatever you can get, or package him in another deal. Let him go start fresh somewhere else. This makes a lot of sense.
He's a human interception machine at this point in his career. Remember last year when we played him - he practically handed the ball to Nolan Carroll and asked him to return it to the end zone for six points. Thankfully for him, Carroll got the rookie jitters and dropped it.
Agreed, he can no longer start, but as a #3, he makes sense and he would be a Vet minimum type of Qb with experience. Would you rather him, or say..who?? for the #3?
Nah, I meant Henne to Denver if the plan was to bring Delhomme in to Miami to b/u. Not sure if Denver would want Henne, but you never know?
If he's strictly our backup im ok with that, but if he's competing for a starting spot than noooo way.
We are talking about a backup QB or a backup's backup. Who's #3 QB doesnt throw INT's? lol. We are talking about a guy that should never been on the field... and if he is... then everything has already imploded anyway. We could sign anyone to be our #3 QB. 99% of which will have zero impact on the team. Delhomme knows the offense, and in the situtation with a short offseason and needing to power-learn the new playbook... having a vet QB who knows the offense would make a bigger impact than almost any other option for a #3 QB.
It happens. This stuff is tough to follow - my eyes are getting numb from refreshing twitter! Just saw a post from Clayton that said Delhomme getting cut could make it easier for Orten to come to Miami (presumably for John Fox to use him as a back up to Tebow, I guess?). So what you said may end up reality anyways!
This makes most sense to me. Especially because Henne was unable to fully learn the offense this offseason Delhomme would help the learning curve.
Cause if he comes in, he's a guaranteed outcome. We're ****ing losing. Then we can all try to get Lucky in April.
Taylor back and now Trusnik. So JT is our backup pass rusher..........we could do worse. We'll have to really watch his snaps though. If we can get 10-15 maybe a bit more from him a game then I think that's a good area to be in for him.
Would rather have a UDFA or a young guy we can develop at the #3 QB position. If we're down to having Delhomme coming into a game, we're ****ed anyways.
I'd rather have Orton and Henne compete for #1 with the loser being #2 and Devlin and Brandstater compete for #3. I'm not convinced Brandstater is better than Devlin as you appear to be.
