True that, I still do think how White does running the ball is as important as his passing accuracy as Thiggy is so far ahead of him as a Qb running is his one edge over Thigpen.

 

Well, if White did add 8 pds of muscle, his explosiveness should have improved.

Thiggy can keep plays alive, but White has to make his bid for the #2 Qb based on his talent as the WC Qb over Thiggy, basically White has to carve out his role.

 

That is what I had in mind, or perhaps Theisman with the Redskins, White's problem is he hasn't shown a dominant skill, at least Steve Young with the Bucs could run as well as a halfback, White hasn't shown that much as of yet.

Pat White can do that much (imho) especially with a year under his belt, NFL DE's maybe can run 4'6's in the NFL, but White should have picked up some quickness with the additional muscle mass.

 

And there is one of his issues that he has to show he has overcome.

But if anything, he was a dominant runner at WVa so that should translate to the NFL.

You could be correct, but somehow (strictly imho) I suspect his weight gain was through his legs and back which should help his explosiveness and power, such that it is.

Why would they have a weight regiment for White that would make him less quick than he already had shown?

That is why imho he has to show he can run the ball at a high level as he really cannot compete as a traditional Qb, Penny and Thiggy just have too much experience imho.

He has to do something that those two cannot ie..run the ball.

Which is my working theory for White this year, he had to improve his power and quickness to carve a role as the WC Qb, he has to run between the tackles successfully in that role and thusly the weight gain.

Perhaps, but theoretically, which pocket passer would he push off the roster?

I found that while looking for a yardstick to measure Pat White's progress as a pocket style Qb, as well as throwing on the move from a basics standpoint.

 

And has Sparano comparing him to Tony Romo..yikes!

WC QB running between the tackles is what opens the exterior of the defense, Bart Scott was being truthful when he said White would never last running between the tackles (at 09's 195 pds or so).

This is one of those Head Coaching deals Alen, Parcell's carried around Bledsoe and Testaverde as he had success with them in the past, Sparano may feel the same way about Pennington, why let go of a perfectly good Veteran Insurance policy?

The 2010 dolphins are sort of in win now mode imho, as a adjunct to that imho Pennington is here to replace Henne if Chad H implodes, I seriously doubt he will implode, but Sparano takes -0- chances.

I really enjoy those videos, Walsh and Montana were quite the pair and I can just watch Montana run waggle passes and enjoy it..:D

Seriously though, based on those Instructional Videos, I can see where you think White is a much better Qb rolling out of the pocket as Walsh explains it allows the Qb the run/pass option, and White from what I've seen on youtube White can make waggle and texas passes as he throws well on the run.

I like Walsh explaining that the Ball should never go below the Qb's hip in their wind up, and should be caught above the numbers the Wr should not have to bend down to catch the ball as it ruins their stride.
