I imagine this more about making a public show of sticking up for LeBron, rather than anything to do with Ainge personally.

I can't imagine Riley cares one bit about Danny Ainge or anything he says but he does care about making sure LBJ knows he and the organization have his back at all times when Decision II comes in 15 months.

    Agreed. Brilliant move by Riley.

He has been silent all season and comes out with fighting words that few, if any executives would publicly state. The funny thing is that he had time to change the statement since it was conveyed by a Heat spokesman. He knew damn well this would become a media story.

This is a master at work, completing the final piece that one day may remembered as the greatest legacy in NBA history. Leaving Miami will be like leaving his family for Lebron.. The Miami Heat have created a tight knit team, and that is something that many in the media are going to overlook when the hype machine starts to roll again.

And the comments landed where intended.

LeBron doesn't talk to the media before games. But he did comment on Riley's quote; "Awesome."

And then after the game; "It was big-time to see that."

In between, Ray Allen, Mike Miller and James Jones all did a powder toss before tipoff. And LeBron had a 28-point first half, including 6 threes.
