Forgive me if this should ultimately move to the AFC East thread, but amidst the Henne/Henning hating, coaching limbo-induced hysteria around here as of late (myself included), I thought this was a really awesome article:

I don't want to quote anymore, but the whole thing is well worth the read. There's probably always going to be some added fluff to a lot of this stuff, but I really wish we saw more stories like these. This industry generates so much capital simply through entertainment, and it's nice to see guys trying to give something back to their communities. And I'm willing to acknowledge it even from one of my least favorite players on my least favorite team.

Awesome story....anytime you have young kids these stories are frightening. And when life isn't going so well think about this family.
Praying for you Aiden.DolfanJake, jetssuck and Ronnie Bass like this. -
I guess I forgot to quote any part that told you what happened, but Aiden passed away last Thursday. Like I said, the whole article is worth reading.

Aweomse job by Sanchez. Hate the Jets, and he is painfully overrated, but he is a good kid. Kudos to him for taking the time to brighten a dying kid's life. Much respect.

Said it before Sanchez seems like a standup guy. I've got not problem with him personally, and would root for him if he weren't a Jet tbh. Doesn't seem to have the ego that a lot of guys in his position have, and appears to be pretty genuine. He's a minority on a huge stage that A LOT of young men look up to. Hopefuly he keeps his nose clean through it all.

Good story. I don't care who you play for, if you take the time out of your hectic schedule to make a dying kids last few weeks on this earth a little brighter, you are one hell of a person. As someone said prior, I am sure that there are numerous incidents like this from players around the NFL, but it should make you feel good every time you hear one of them.

Seriously
Highly, highly disappointed in the way this thread turned out. That's not what this site is about.
To those whose posts were deleted (unfortunately we also had to delete some who responded compassionately and maturely), think before you speak next time.
And no, it's not ok to just automatically jump in and start talking smack. It's old. It's played. And frankly it's against TOS.

God blessed the little guy... had some happiness in his last few weeks...

It puts Sanchez in a better light...kudos to him... -

It was a great thing that he did.

an open apology
about a month ago I said some things About Mark Sanchez That being a Dolphin fan and Him being a Jets player, I thought were funny. Well I just read something That has shown me how wrong I was
"My man, Aiden ... breaks my heart," Sanchez said Tuesday during his weekly spot on "The Michael Kay Show" on 1050 ESPN Radio. "He's so tough."
Sanchez, choked with emotion, paused several times as he talked about Aiden, whom he met through the Teddy Atlas Foundation. Atlas, the boxing trainer and ESPN analyst, was a Jets special assistant under former coach Eric Mangini.
"He brought me so much inspiration. ... It's hard to talk about him," Sanchez said. "He meant the world to me. I felt like I've known him forever. ... I saw his personality. I saw his competitive spirit. I saw him fighting every day.
"I'm complaining about a shoulder. Are you kidding me? ... I think he was 11 years old, and he has cancer eating away at his body," Sanchez continued. "This kid is fighting every day. He's smiling every time I talk to him. I visited him at his home. I mean, he has to get carried up the stairs because he's so weak and all he wants to talk about is LT [LaDainian Tomlinson] and Darrelle Revis and Rex Ryan and me."
"Oh, man, it kills you, just thinking about it. I love him to death."

what a great story, I was wrong and from this day forward even as a lifelong Dolphin fan I will also be a fan of Mark Sanchez.... I may hate the Jets but Im a Human Being first and If that young lad Aiden was my son, Id want his hero to be just like Mark Sanchez

Nice story, great to read players doing stuff like that.
But I hope the Jets lose every game.Colorado Dolfan, Rocky Raccoon and Fin D like this. -
Thanks for posting the story. If only the 2011 media, and not just sports media, focused just a bit more on positive stories instead of Michelle Ryan's feet and Brandon Spikes' sex tapes. I hate the over-TMZed society we live in.
I love having Sanchez as the Jets QB. He is genuinely a good person and a stand-up guy. -
Hate the player not the person. And I sure hate the player.

Sanchez is a great person, but I still can't cheer for him to win game as long as he's wearing a Jets jersey.
