In Chicago at 3pm today, the Temp is 18, with wind chills pushing that down to 6 degrees. For me, in my usual theme, watch the Special Teams matchup as the Bears are in the Top 5 in the NFL and the Packers are ranked #30th or so, if Devin Hester blows up he can take over this cold weather game.
great championship games this year. it dont get better then bears/ packers unless the dolphins are playing. i think the bears win. they can run and pass and snuff both on defense. the packers cant run and i think are vulnerable to the run. Add the special teams advantage and I think its a BEars win. the only wildcards in this IMO are Cutler's penchant for bad picks and Rodgers insane play as of late. If the Bears dont lose the turnover battle however I think they win going away
Well, I do not have a dog in this hunt, but I do think the Bears remind me of our teams with the solid defense but they added a Qb and made a playoff run.
Don't underestimate the importance of Green Bay's special teams needing to win for their team to win today. Seriously.
I`m kinda rootin for the Packers. It will be a more exciting super bowl for them to play the Steelers then it would the Bears.
Tony Sparano watches Rodgers run that touchdown in, thinks of Chad Henne doing his best Drew Blesdoe impression, and sheds a tear.
Manning almost got him. He has a lot of range, which explains why they've used him at CB, FS and KR lol.
Nah, Tony is so dumb he's noticing how his left guard wasn't perfect technique on that play and marks it down a negative to criticize the team for. Plus, he tells Rogers not to change the play at the line like that ever again. Stick with the HB dive.
The main play (and kind of base play, as they tag a lot to it) in the Colts playbook (or should I say Manning's head?) is short to deep - Levels.
Thought AR might have got hurt on that td run. But that pack offense is the best i have seen since the 49ers glory days.
Notice that the Bears are starting at their own 36 yd line, that is the Hester Effect in action, they lead the NFL in starting field position with their average being out at the 35 yd line. This is what Sparano sacrifices by putting guys like Cobbs on Returns..it drives me nutz.
I can see that making sense in zone, or if you are facing pressure defenses. What about versus man cover without a blitz? I'd think that would be too conservative by prioritizing dink and dunk. I guess it makes sense in terms of route timing, since deep routes take longer to develop.
best passing offense since the Colts IMO. The run game should get shut down today though. We'll see. The Bears defense will have some adjustments on the second drive. I think some blitzes may be in order. Probably a corner blitz IMO
Is greg Jennings the best receiver not talked about or what..guys tappin on the top5's door.. Rodgers is showing why I want a QB that has an athletic skillset to begin with..
Pass concepts are set up that way. Most are deep to short reads but there are some that are short to deep.
If Cutler could figure out his footwork and stay consistent with his decison making, he could be a top three QB in this league IMO. Too bad he's stubborn and boneheaded.
Peprah and Collins are not too bright and don't always take good angles IMO. They can be exposed by Cutler, if he does the right things.
If the Pack can add another TD, it'll let their defense REALLY get aggressive and Cutler could be in for sack s and INTs. I find Cutler is a momentum guy big time. Once he is flustered he doesn;t have the mental discipline to play consistently.
Every coach I've talked to has said when he sees Cover 2/Tampa 2, he thinks "Run!". The Bears like to mix in the Man-Free coverage and that helps them. Plus they are stout up front but their ends can be unleashed at times and you can take advantage.
