According to Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson, one NFL GM believes Carson Palmer could bring a first-round pick from a "playoff ready" team if owner Mike Brown makes him available.
That same GM also believes Palmer's skills have not declined and that he's got "everything you want" in a QB. It sounds like Hobson went right down the hall to get his quotes from owner/GM Brown. The problem with a playoff ready team acquiring Palmer is that they would no longer be playoff caliber if they received the version of the quarterback from the past year and a half. Scouts Inc.'s Matt Williamson opined Tuesday that Palmer "pretty much failed every test" and is "more the problem than the answer." It's quite possible that he would thrive in an organization committed to winning, but it's not worth anywhere near a first-round pick to roll that weighty dice.
