The Carolina Panthers cut Dwayne Jarrett on Tuesday hours after the receiver was arrested on a drunken driving charge for the second time.
"I talked to Dwayne and told him the situation here. It is just not working out for either side," Panthers GM Marty Hurney said. "We wish Dwayne the best."
Jarrett was released by police in the Charlotte area on Tuesday morning after posting a $2,000 bond.
He pleaded guilty in 2008 after being arrested on a drunken driving charge. He paid $420 in court costs and was sentenced to 24 hours community service.
