The Charlotte Observer is reporting that the Panthers have offered a new deal to Julius Peppers despite last years struggles. Last year, Julius was named team captain and was expected to be the vocal leader of the team but Peppers was not happy with that. Peppers is a very humble guy and may have felt that he had too much pressure on him to perform. This year, that has changed. He's asked to go out and produce like he did in all the years before last. The Panthers also moved Peppers to Right Defensive End which is expected to help him perform like in the past. Peppers looked good this off-season, especially against the Redskins LT Chris Samuels. He dominated Samuels, picking up a sack and a forced fumble. Now as for the deal, if he signs it, he is expected to be one of the top paid defensive players in the league. The details of the offer are not known right now though. My guess is that he gets around $64-65 million over six years. Peppers' days with Panthers numbered or numerous? | www.charlotteobserver.com
Smart move. As long as he lives up to his potential, he's worth every penny to that team. If Peppers has a big year, that's a playoff team.
