Saw something about this in club level, but thought it was worth putting on the mains as well. First I'd heard that he was officially done and gone. Don't know what his legacy ultimately will be for the few years he was here, but I think it was time for him to move on. Assuming there's football in '11, it will be interesting to see how Ireland and Sparano do without him around.

Yaaay.

I myself am somewhat disappointed in Parcells. But, that's mostly because of some of the stories that have come out re; certain draft picks and the influence Parcells had on making them [cough - Pat White - cough]. As for building a structure within the organization, well...who the hell knows. -

Adios. Good luck to you and your enormous FUPA in your future endeavors, Mr. Parcells.

I'm glad he's gone, but it' foolish to think he didn't turn this franchise around. We're not a playoff caliber team, so he didn't meet our expectations. But we're several games better than 1-15 and a few key players (QB, TE, ILB, G) from being a serious contender

Good. The guy's been turning into too much baggage for this organization.

I hope Parcells doesn't think that his washing his hands of anything to do with the Dolphins preserves his reputation. If this doesn't turn around soon I don't think that will reflect well on Parcells resume or his reputation. There have been some good things accomplished since Parcells took the reins, but there seems to be just as many questionable things and bad moves since he arrived.
We all want Sparano to succeed but another 7-9 season or worse will put him in a bad position. This year is also important to Ireland because lacking a 2nd round pick we have a lean draft unless a trade down can be made to recoup the 2nd round pick. Without that second round pick it becomes imperative to make the 1st round pick a successful pick. JMO of course. -

I am glad Bill Parcells is gone now, but I do not hate him like many on here do. I actually think he did a decent job here. Winning the division after the worst season ever for us was something I will cherish for the rest of my life. That was priceless, imo. We were in a downward spiral with no end in sight until Parcells got here. Just his presence alone brought respectability to our team.
I hold no hard feelings toward the man. And, I wish him the best.Ohio Fanatic likes this. -
Well it's just official. We knew he was gone in September when he bailed right before the first game. That whole consultant thing was bs.

He did a better job than Matt Millen. That's not really saying a whole lot Our first year was a heavy fluke more than anything.jetssuck likes this. -

History will be a lot less kind to him than the sheep on ESPN that have been falling at his feet for the last 20 years.....

I will admit that I was thrilled when Parcells was signed to run the Dolphins football operation. I expected that he would turn the franchise around as he had done with so many other teams. Unfortunately it appears that age and apathy finally caught up with Parcells and all he was able to accomplish with the Dolphins was to get the team to a level of mediocrity. While this is certainly better than the 1-15 team the Dolphins were before he arrived. It is so far less than was expected from this so called genius. I certainly am not sad to see his time in Miami end, but my only regret is that he didn't take Sparano, Ireland, and Henne with him. The legacy of Parcells in Miami will certainly show that he left the job far from finished. On a scale of 1-10, in rating the job Parcells did while running the Dolphins. I would rate him a 3.

He did the same thing for his friend Tony Sparano that Jimmy Johnson did for his friend Dave Wannstedt. Only difference is that Wannstedt also got GM duties and Sparano didn't. I still remember the great build up and drama as we all waited to see who our new coach would be as we waited for someone to be available after the playoffs. I can't blame Parcells for leaving since he had promises from Wayne and Wayne bailed, he didn't have an agreement with Ross. I can blame Parcells for leaving a job undone that he got paid well for.

I say good,he has kinda only been around part time anyway. He did not accomplish what I had hoped and I wish him well, now it's time to see what his cronies can do.

Like everyone else who has tried to right this ship since Shula was forced out and Marino retired, Parcells failed to fix our QB situation. I don't want to turn this into another Matt Ryan thread, but he had the number 1 pick and a franchise QB staring him in the face when he took over. He didn't completely botch things, as we have to be pretty thrilled to have Jake Long on our team, but still. Just like Nick Saban when he screwed the pooch on QB, Parcells has left the building.
If Chad Henne does shake off last season's sophomore slump and becomes a quality QB in this league Parcells will have some vindication, but not much seeings how he was the first to give up on the kid. -
