Parcells on ESPN Radio Now
Huizenga offered Parcells the HC job and/or GM job but Bill said no and obviously accepted the VP of Football Operations and offered Keyshawn a job to play for the Fins jokingly (I think). -
Can you give us a link,bro ?

Making it sound like he is going to bring in his own guys from the HC and coaching staff to GM.
E: Just said he will put a GM in place, think it is safe to say Mueller is a goner and said something very similar about the HC job. -

Parcells is also very aware of where Miami stands draft pick wise and is very aware of Miami's 2 2nd round picks.

After listening to it again I get the vibe he is going to bring his own people in but to each his own.
E: He also never mentioned Mueller or Camerons name when talking about it and he said numerous times he'll bring in someone.Last edited: Dec 21, 2007 -
He also stated he wanted people he can work with that share the same philosophy. He never said he would retain the current staff just mentioned he might but immediately followed it with talking about if he brought new guys in.

Man, Brown you just kind of hear what you want to hear. He didn't say he wouldn't pick a RB or QB at all, he just said he wants someone good that will be here a while, that can mean any position.
He also doesn't say he wants to bring new people in, just that the people who are in those positions put football first. That doesn't mean he will get rid of anyone if Cam and Randy put football first. Its a wait and see game, stop twisting his words. -

My guess is Parcells is going to run this team his way, he has an idea of the type of players he wants and the GM needs to share his views. The coaching staff will also need to be aligned with Parcells vision for the team. As he stated, he needs the GM and Coach to share his philosophy.

Exactly. Sounds to me like he is serving notice. He is simply saying that if you are going to be part of the Miami Dolphins, you had better be committed to winning.....or else.
As we have seen so many times in years past on this board, people will twist interviews to fit their agenda. -
IMHO with all due respect guys, but do you really think that he is going to say exactly what he's going to doing in terms of bringing in a new HC or GM? Right now, he doesn't want be a distraction because of the upcoming big game against the Pats. He's always been great at handling the media and not giving alot of information about exactly what he's going to do or not.

Now he is just going over the off-season schedule such as off-season surgery, trades, FA, college All-Star games etc.
-
Now he is discussing what he is going to do once the season ends, and I must say I consider it a real treat to listen to the man speak.
But I will say, from what he said, it sounds as if he is going to be handling the GM duties, and will be overseeing every aspect of personnel management. From evaluating injured players, to creating a mock draft, to bringing in scouts to bring in evaluations of personnel, etc. -
On a side note it sounds like MeShawn Johnson is on his way for next year. I never really liked him. If he is going to be in a phins uni we may as well ship that pick we got for Chambers over with a mid rounder to cincy and make our 4 receivers next year......Chad Johnson, Ginn, Meshawn, and Greg Camarillo. LOL j/k of course. Could be though. Ya never know. -

In regards to Keyshawn Johnson, I think he is a very good WR. He has been able to be productive without the physical tools that most great WR possess. He is definitely a guy who works extremely hard on his technique and preparation. He brings a lot of intangibles. He would be a great person to work with someone like Ginn.
Keyshawn Johnson is absolutely the type of player we can be assured Bill Parcells will not bring in. -
IMHO I would stay away from Chad Johnson and MEshawn Johnson.
Maybe, it's me but they are both such ME players and that is something that we don't need. Right now, I have no suggestions for a WR to bring in. -

E: They feel the same way I do about the GM and HC. -
“Let me make it broad-brushed, make it simple. Anything that has anything to do with football directly or indirectly reports to Bill. That includes doctors and trainers and everything.Last edited: Dec 21, 2007 -
I said it yesterday in my SI rating Ginn thread, Parcells and Keyshawn will hook back up and use him to improve our WRs. You heard Keyshawn, "When it comes to Bill anything is a possibility." I think the only question now is in what capacity, but I fully expected as soon as Parcells signed that Keyshawn will be involved with us next year.

The GM will have final say authority on all personnel matters, and he will not overrule them. He's also going to have a guy maintaining the salary cap full time. I believe that could be Matt Thomas.
There was nothing said about who's staying or going. The only mention regarding Cameron and Mueller was that he had not even begun to examine the situation. No decision has been made. He said they may keep the current GM, they might not.
Also, he's heading down to Davie the day after Christmas. That's when he starts.
And THAT'S what was said. -
