Redskins sign him to compete with Rex Grossman for the #3 QB on the team. He hasn't been seen in the NFL since...
I personally can't see him lasting long in the game, especially if he takes another hit like that. He seems like a good kid and hope he does well there, but I really don't think the NFL is where he should be.

Too be fair not many football players can last long if they take hits like that. That was an illegal play where almost all of the force went directly into his head. Any player regardless of size or build would be out, because unless I missed something in gym class there aren't weights that you can lift to make your skull stronger.

Ironic, since he was taken by Miami with the pick we got in the JT to Redskins deal IIRC. One of the worst draft picks ever IMHO. I know many may argue, but I recall being enraged when the selection was announced. What a waste of a second rounder. And, based on everything I've heard or read over the last couple of years, it was all BP. Thanks Bill!

I think people thought, at the time, that the Wildcat was something that would bring the Dolphins to the promise land and a QB selected specifically for the Wildcat was genius. Of course this dude was way to small to actually try and run through a line unlike Ronnie Brown.
Remember that season agains the Bills, after Ronnie Brown got injuries, they tried to make Ricky a Wildcat back? They were in the red-zone and Tony Suckrono had him pass the ball and it got picked off. Had they won that game they could have been in a race for a playoff spot even after an 0-3 start. -
He should have been a Brad Smith/WR type weapon.

Ahhh...Paul Kruger. What could've been. -

Odds are he doesn't make it out of camp.
Sounds like he is just going to fill in as "RGIII" for OTA's and camp fluff until RGIII can get back out there. This way they have someone with the same skill set running the plays in camps.ASOT likes this. -
He's a #3 QB, so it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things of whether he plays or not. If the Redskins lose RGIII again (which they will) and Cousins is out and they are depending on Pat White or Rex Grossman, they are screwed, as are most teams down to their #3.
-
He ran the play that he was told to run, without fear or hesitation. He got clobbered. It's football.
I respect him a lot more than I respected Teddy Ginn, who ran away from contact.steveincolorado and Bpk like this. -
It's a smart signing for the Redskins, and I think he'll make it out of camp. If you're down to your #3 QB, you're going to be running overwhelmingly anyway. If you already use option-style plays pretty extensively, getting an out and out option quarterback makes sense.
The Dolphins did a **** job on getting White going as a rusher. 1-2 rushes a game with a rookie player isn't going to allow them to get acclimated to game speed. -
As for Pat White

He dropped out of the concussion lawsuit against the nfl....I think he's an idiot.

Same. Best wishes.

Have folks forgotten his tweet about not wanting to be a Wr?
IMO, Sparano lacked balls and White was petulant, I don't like the fact he really did not earn this second shot in the league.
Otherwise wish him well.Bpk likes this. -
He was a long term, or even long shot development as a passer, and the Dolphins didn't do anything to help him out as a rusher. 1-2 rushes a game is not acceptable or reasonable to get a rookie going. When he got more than 2 carries, he was averaging 5+ yards a carry.Stringer Bell likes this. -
He finally woke up from that hit?

If you think that way, then no one under a certain size and weight should play professional football, and players who do play should minimize contact. What I am saying is that's not football as we know it, not that trying to gain yards is more important than a player's life. Taking your logic to its extreme, they should play two hand touch in the NFL.
The fact remains that Ginn, the guy who is still playing, prioritizes avoiding contact over gaining yards, so that plays to him end prematurely and are less productive. He hasn't amounted to much as a wide receiver. White, the guy who almost died, received the kind of unusual, catastrophic hit that makes football a dangerous sport to play, and is fortunately the exception rather than the rule. He's back in the league, though. Have to admire that. -
Ted Ginn caught many passes in the middle. I've seen big supposedly tough guys avoid contact when all they needed was a yard. Ginn was amplified because he was on our team.
You don't return kicks and punt returns down the middle if you are afraid of contact.Larryfinfan likes this. -

I've said it before, but if you watched Marvin Harrison he would also flop in the middle. He was Marvin Harrison though so you didn't see that often because he was just so damn good nobody was near him.
