Yep, sort of knew it was coming, hopefully old man Davis worked Belicheck for all he was worth.
The price was a 3rd and a 4th for Burgess,

His game really picked up out in Oakland, made the pro bowl a couple of times, but he looks fairly inconsistent or put himself in Davis's doghouse
The Patsies apparently solved their OLB pass rusher problem -
He could fall flat on his face though too. This guy has been a DE his entire career and now has to make the switch to OLB in only a few weeks. Right now he is going to be a situational rusher for them. Hopefully they gave up the two picks to get him though. That would be nice. Less ammunition for them next year.

With the pats, it is almost never a question of which picks they gave up PT, it's the time they waste on a player who does not fit into their system.
If they rely on Burgess and he does not deliver, they have virtually no pass rush. -

Typical patriots actually, they miss often on low rd picks. -
They've missed on quite a lot of draft picks period; at least in the past several years they have.
What's kept them afloat is
1. They completely pulled a rabbit out of their hat with Brady in the 6th
2. Their OL drafts awhile back were money
3. The Wilfork pick
4. A heavy dose of the right FAscalphin likes this. -
They also hit on the players they needed to hit on like LT, C, DE and made do with inferior talent and recycled Veterans at the Lb positions.late again likes this.

That being said, what happens if Brady, Moss or any Starting lineman on either side can't go a game? They are SERIOUSLY screwed

KC...Matt Casell was injured last night with an ankle and MCL, so he knows the offense and can step right into it.

Yea but I think they feel ok with Croyle and Thigpen at the position for now and I don't think Cassell's injury is all that serious. I could see them both putting a claim in though.

Thigpen is on the trade block though PT, and Pioli has picked up the Pats third string Qb from the waiver wire, Matt Guiterrez(sp).

This must be flying under the radar. However, IMO it's significant since the Pats are already thin at LB.
Linebacker Shawn Crable has been placed on injured reserve with a groin injury, shelving him for the season. The second-year player from Michigan, a third-round pick last year, started 2008 on the PUP list before being put on IR with a shin injury so he still hasn't played in an NFL game.

Lewis was cut because Edelman has shown that much, which means when the Pats go 4 wide, they have what they believe is a Welker clone to line up on the other side of the formation.

And Belichick was raving about Lewis's versatility, something about when he was a beagle they had problems game planning against him.
to me that means Edelman showed them he can play at a high level, high enough to chase off of a fine NFL pro in his prime.

belichick has loved lewis since he came into the league.
IIRC when the eagles snatched him up he's called practically every year to try to get reid to trade him and w/the eagles drafting two WRers recently I guess reid felt he had the necessary depth to make the move.
The eagles used that pick to select Fenuki Tupou who was placed on IR by Philly two days ago. -
