if adding Fitzgerald and Jennings and Stewart to the Patriots put them over the top, what does adding the skill of Hester do?
We here at BSPN are fairly certain the Patriots just lapped the field.
Devin Hester was acquired late Sunday evening from the Chicago Bears for a 2nd round pick (the 60th overall) in this upcoming draft.
But where does he fit in on a Pats offense that is loaded with talent at the WR position especially?
Pats GM had this to say:
We're thrilled to add a player of Hester's talent level.
You add the single greatest return man in the NFL to your team and all of a sudden your potent offense is starting from outside the 40 yard line on a consistent basis.
We'll also sprinkle him into the offense as needed.
Line him up in the backfield at times.
Get him one on one with anyone and just get him the damn ball.
But obviously his best skill is as a returner.
We're not going to take him away from what he does best.
Let me also add this, critics may point to the fact that we've give up a lot of picks in making these moves.
When you load up for a SuperBowl run often times you do it with veterans and the window of opportunity is limited.
We don't feel that window is limited at all.
The players that we've added are all young and under 30 years of age.
Tom is virile.
He keeps himself healthy with his lovely wife.
I'm sure he'll be the first to tell you he has a good five years left.
We look forward to dominating the NFL for the next five seasons and hopefully beyond
