Until 2017 at age 40.... I wonder if this is to clear some cap in order to sign some of their guys...
Someone tweeted Sean Smith about taking a team friendly deal and literally he LOL'd and told the guy to stop.....well Seany a HoF is doing it..... there is a reason they arent signing Welker, it is because they are signing Wallace......watch...
Well if you read the book "Spygate" you might take another look at these contract numbers http://www.spygatebook.com/ It's funny that I literally just got done reading the book last week and an entire chapter is devoted to Brady's "sacrifice" which Peter King has now glowingly broken and reported on twice. Long story short, Brady's first extension which Peter King hailed as some incredible sacrifice was both unnecessary (the Patriots didn't have major cap issues, nor did they sign any major free agents for several years after) and unprecedented (literally no other player in history had taken a contract so far below market value in his prime). The book's conclusion of course is that Brady, while great, isn't anywhere near as good as he seems because of the shenanigans which would be thoroughly exposed if he ever went anywhere else. And if he played poorly somewhere else that would hurt his endorsements, which is where the real money comes in. As to how this affects this season, no reason for them not to sign Welker, and potentially another high caliber receiver now
You do it to be proactive, why not....that is smart GM'ing by BB.....fix a potential problem before it ever arises...
Yeah, Sean Smith wasn't getting the responses he wanted on twitter. He asked if anyone had ever asked their boss for a raise. My response was "Not when I've underperformed."
Well of course it makes sense for the team. It doesn't make sense for Brady. Nor would it have made that much difference if he had simply done nothing. Read the book. Quick read and very interesting.
Clueless my pay has been frozen for the last 6 years, and we have to take furlough days to the tune of 10% cuts every year...... Ask my boss for a raise hhahaahah okayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Sean!!!
TBH, I agree with him. Football players need to get paid when they can. They don;t get guaranteed deals like the players in other sports do and their careers are much shorter. If someone will actually give Smith $10 milion per then he should take it. He doesn't owe us anything. Jake Long is a different story in my mind since he's already been paid a ton and his next contract should be comensurate with his declining performance. Not that he owes us anything, but I'd be comfortable asking him for a hometown discount
I hate them I hate them I hate them.....slime ball f$cks I hate them.....when is someone NOT going to take a discount to play with them?? Again I am a hater of them...I don't like them and I wish the Stadium would collapse....without people in it of course...
I've heard this move frees up anywhere from 14 million to 7.3 million I suspect they want to bring Welker back.
It makes it easier to take team-friendly deals when you're married to a supermodel who makes $30 million year. Her net worth is $150 million! That is crazy. http://celebnetworth.org/gisele-bundchen-net-worth-salary-income
While that wouldnt shock me, I think Bellicheck would rather prove that he can win with 2 TEs and an assortment of White WRs to prove some sort of point.
But it hasn't worked Frum. Too many players clogging the middle of the field, and no true outside the hash mark wr......Wallace changes that game entirely and that teams offense.....
Say what you want about Brady, the guy wants to win at all costs. Pretty selfless player. Still don't think NE signs Welker. They'll get Wallace, use Edelman in Welker's spot, and maybe draft Swope if he's available. Calling it now.
Pats are in an interesting position, basically their Cap space is devoted to Brady/Wilfork/Mankins They were not thrilled with paying Welker the Franchise tag, but it seems like Welker wants big $$$. He's 31, only has one more big payday coming his way.
I'm thinking they go after Hartline, I can see them thinking a more accurate Qb like Brady will only heighten his production, and he's 26 and 2/3rds the cost of Welker. People sometimes focus on Welker's receptions, but if you look at his numbers, he is more or less a running back in terms of YPC, they may feel Bline could do better. And Bline is not exactly Mr Ego, which also fits into what they do.
Signing Bonus: $30 million Total Guarantee: $57 million Cash Value: $57 million 2013: Cap Hit: $13.8 million Cash Value: $31 million Base Salary: $1 million 2014: Cap Hit: $14.8 million Cash Value: $2 million Base Salary: $2 million 2015: Cap Hit: $13 million Cash Value: $7 million Base Salary: $7 million 2016: Cap Hit: $14 million Cash Value: $8 million Base Salary: $8 million 2017: Cap Hit: $15 million Cash Value: $9 million Base Salary: $9 million
Now that it shows how much Brady is getting in guaranteed money, we can skip the whole silly argument that Brady is taking a big discount to stay with the patsies.
