The New England Patriots have agreed to a two-year deal with free agent defensive lineman Marcus Stroud, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Stroud, 32, was released by the Buffalo Bills on February 18.
A first-round pick (13th overall) of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2011, Stroud has 424 tackles, 29.5 quarterback sacks, and 39 passes defensed during his 146-game career.
Buffalo acquired the three-time Pro Bowler from the Jaguars for a pair of picks in the 2008 NFL Draft.
A starter in 45 of his 48 games for the Bills, Stroud totaled 150 tackles and 7.5 quarterbacks, but struggled in the team's conversion to a 3-4 scheme under George Edwards in 2010. Stroud was due to earn $10 million in base salary, along with a pair of $1 million roster bonuses between 2011-12, prompting his release.
