"Like a teacher keeping his students after school for extra help, Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington held his offense for nearly an hour after team meetings Friday night before the well-balanced victory over the Jaguars" http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/football/pro/dolphins/sfl-flspdol19sbaug19,0,5298519.story This is something this offense/team has needed since Marino left. The guy has only been here a week and he's already the leader of this offense and a leader of the team. And better yet, his play actually backed it up on Saturday.
i speak for alot of us i believe when i say..... F-I-N-A-L-L-Y !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I Love hearing that kind of stuff.... as hard as it is making the transformation from Penny hater to Penny fan...he certainly seems to be adding a much needed dynamic to the team, both on the field and off.
you know, i've never really hated the guy. always been classy, never was out-spoken against us. and this is music to my eyes, as was last saturday.
music to your eyes huh? awesome. This is good IMO. He can hopefully show henne, and beck how to be a leader, or mccown depending on which of the 2 stay.
well sparano is still saying Henne might be the opening day starter... that he has done the most positive things out of any of our QBs... i doubt it but you never know
I love the Pennington pickup, I believe he has the highest lifetime completion percentage of any active QB. But even with that I would love for Henne to distinguish himself and be the starter on opening day. That would certainly say loads about the future and finally a solution to our long standing QB problem. How long has it been since we drafted a QB who became the Dolphin's regular starter? Pennington or Henne the opening day starter is a win/win situation and very good news to the Dolphins, but that is JMO.
Is this guy good or what ? We have been looking for leadership like this for 8 years. I never, ever, ever thought I would say this, but....... Thank God for Chad Pennington
When your QB position has been average at best for over 8 years, any sign of competence and accountability at the posotion is something for us to be excited about.
We've never even been average. The best passing game we've had has been 2005's Frerrote, be mediocre two games, explode one game phenomena.
Listen lets calm down just a little. While im excited for Pennington to be successful here in Miami. It's only been a week or two.. What happens when he has a bad game or two in a row? People will be calling for Hene to step in.. Lets slow down Lets be positive but We know what Pennington is, he's not Tom Brady, or Payton Manning. He will play smart and be better than the last few guys we had in there but remember hes a stop gap..
I've always like Chad Pennington. Classy guy. Great leader on the field. Not a lot of arm, but smart and very accurate. I really don't 'hate' anybody. They're all people. And I'm a fan of the game in general. Plus Pennington's too athletic for Bills linebackers to tackle. Pennington is the perfect guy to man the controls for a little while. He not only accepts the mentor role, he embraces it. That is not the case very often. I remember Trent Green being interviewed after the Chiefs selected Brody Croyle in the 4th round. When asked if he'd help the guy along, he said he would, but he wouldn't help the guy take his job. And he'd be even less willing if the guy had been selected in the second round. That's nothing against Trent Green. But as a 36-year old vet, it doesn't help him professionally to train his successor. And it's not just the case with QBs. It goes on at every position. As much as I love what Henne is showing, I hope we can keep him on the bench awhile. At the very least so he can see how a true student of the game prepares each week for an NFL regular season game. How he watches film. How he corrects his mistakes. How a grizzled vet operates. So yeah, I really like this situation.
